This is Marla’s sister Bethany.  Isn’t she adorable with that preggo belly??  Bethany shares what she wrote in the journal:

“I love fashion so I could totally relate to Amy’s story–splurging on a beautiful item only to feel convicted later about how that money could have been used to help others in need.

I have been challenged and inspired over the past several months to have a willing and generous spirit and trusting God to take my meager offerings and multiply them for His kingdom (like the boy in the feeding of the 5,000 in John 6). A lot of times we may think–I am just one person. Can I really make a difference for God? The great thing about our God is that He provides us with material goods and other blessings and when we give them back to Him He multiplies it ($28 for clean water for Africans has become way over $1000) and many times gives us more so we can continue to be generous–

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

My husband is a youth pastor and I wore the belt to church on Sunday and shared this little challenge with the teens in Sunday School. You are only one person, but on God’s team you can do mighty things for His kingdom when you are generous with what He has given you!

love your sister in Christ,

This one seems special to me because it is through Marla’s blog that I started reading Radical, which prompted me to give away the belt and Dani to buy it and to start this whole thing.  I suppose you could say she’s the founding sisters’ momma.  Or something.  In any case, I’m so glad she got behind this and even though she’s not a belt-wearer she got dolled up and posed for a picture, looking beautiful, I might add!  I love the “Blessed”!
