Playtime Conversations

August 25, 2007 by Amy

These are all taken while Emma and I are playing doctor with Polly Pocket characters.  She was the dr and I was the nurse.

Emma:  The dolls are falling down!  This is a silly situation!

———————————————————————————-

Emma: Put these high heels on.  She’s going to look so high-heely.

———————————————————————————-

Me: OK, dr, we’ve seen all our patients.  What should we do?

Emma: I don’t know

Me: I think we should go shopping.

Emma (coming out of character):  Uh, mommy, doctors don’t go shopping.

Me: Well then what should I do?

Emma: You should go arrange stickers.  Do you know what arrange means?  It means to put stuff out.

Me: Is that what nurses are supposed to do?

Emma: Yes

———————————————————————————-

Me: What is wrong with Polly, doctor?

Emma (out of character): um, mommy, what is wrong with her?

Me (out of character and with my hand on my chin): the flu

Emma: duhflu?

Me (laughing): No, the flu.

Emma: Can we just call it duhflu?

Me: Yes, that’s fine.

Emma (back in character): Ok, Polly has duhflu
