Works for Me Wednesday

October 3, 2007 by Amy

Ok so this week instead of handing out suggestions of what works for us, we’re supposed to ask for help on an issue.

And what has me baffled as of late is how are people monetizing their blogs?  What sites do you use?  What works for you (ah-ha!) and what doesn’t?

What are your top performers and your lowest?

I’m not into it for another full-time job but a little extra income would be nice.  So tell me what works for you!

Watch out for payperpost’s new image.
It’s coming at the end of October, beginning of November I think and will be a total revamp of the way they do things. I don’t think all of us who use it will benefit but we’ll have to see. So far I’ve done fairly well out of it and I can’t benefit from a lot of the offers because my blog is based here in the Uk not the US.

I use PayPerPost, PayU2Blog, and Smorty. I make the most with PPP, like PU2B best, and Smorty is my least favorite. With PPP I make at least $600/month, lately it’s been even more. PU2B I only make about $100/month but I like the way it’s done better, you just put a contextual link in a normal post instead of an advertisement, plus they do product reviews where you can get some cool products for free. I started Smorty a few weeks ago and it’s kind of like PPP, but a lot less ads available and less money.

I’m curious about this two. I’ve enjoyed blogging and thought, “Why can’t I make a few hundred dollars a month off of this?”
I tried Payu2blog and hated it. They ask you to use words and link to a seller. Most of the words are so obscure (animal inflated, landscape lighting, etc) which I don’t normally blog about. I’m sure I could start a new blog solely for the purpose of making money (and I’ve seen this) and using these words in each blog (and it’s only $35/week – $5/blog), but I don’t have the time. One of my first “assignments” was to use the words crotchless panties in a blog. That’s when I said, “Hmmm, maybe this isn’t for me.” I tried it for two blogs and I felt like I was manipulating my readers.
I signed up for payperpost but am unsure what I’m supposed to do – their communication isn’t the best. Maybe someone else has a better understanding.

I recommend Yaro Starak’s Blog Profits Blueprint. The url is http://www.blogmastermind.com/blueprint/?home=223. It’s a free PDF e-book and very helpful. He circulates it for free as a promotion for his membership site, but there’s a ton of great information in it.

    Best to you!

Students that are willing to get good grades search for a reliable classification essay service to order their free term papers at. The same things I do also.
