More Elliptical Drama

February 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Wow, so did you know our second replacement elliptical broke too??  It made this horrible grinding, squeaking, nails on chalkboard sort of sound that hurt your ears.  Do not ever, ever buy a Horizon elliptical.  In fact, Scott took it up to Dick’s today and they recalled both of the ones we had.  Surprise, surprise.

Unfortunately the guy we’ve been working with wasn’t up there so the guy there made us pay the difference between the first one we had and a Sole one which is another step higher than the second Horizon we had.  Thank goodness for that tax refund coming next week is all I can say.

I will flip my lid if this ones breaks too.

Blogged Down

February 6, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Lately I have felt blogged down.  That’s hopefully a phrase that someone else hasn’t come up with.  It’s definition is closely related to the definition of bog as used in bogged down..getting slowed down or stuck.  Except in this case, it means specifically by blogs.

I have definitely been blogged down lately.  This morning, I think I had almost 90 blogs in my reader and I simply can not handle it saying I have more than 1 post to read.  I HAVE to at least look at it and check it off my list.  I have never blindly clicked Mark All Read just because my curiosity would kill me not knowing what someone posted.

So where does that put me?  A lot of reading to do and little time to do it.  And I do get stuck in a rut of reading.  And as much as I love everyone I read, I simply had to pare it down.  With my personal sites and some entertainment feeds I subscribe to for my OTH site’s purposes, I now only have a total of 50 feeds in my reader.  I kept all the ones where I knew I’d read every single post and be excited about every single post.

So far it feels very freeing except I don’t think it will be long before I miss my reader not having tons of bolded (1)’s beside them.

They say I shouldn’t post when I have nothing to talk about…

February 6, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

..and yet I still do.

This morning I got the kids ready for school only to drive them over there to see zero people or cars in the parking lot.  Crap!  I forgot it was a workday with a makeup day on Friday.  To make up for it, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts on the way home.  Sugar makes it all better.

Scott is at a funeral at the moment for a trooper that got killed last week.  It’s an hour away so he’ll probably be gone most of the day.

The girls will be heading to MIL’s soon for the evening.

I’ll finish up work today and may actually have a break until 6 for youth since the band isn’t practicing early.  I have an implementation tonight so I’ll be up late taking care of that.

In other very unrelated news, we had a robbery and shooting in the gas station that is right beside my church.  One of the persons that was shot is our former mayor.  He was shot in the face but was released from the hospital this morning in fair condition.  My phones and txt messages were abuzz last night as it unfolded.  Very unsettling though to think our town is not safe from things like that.  I’m just glad they weren’t more seriously injured.

Good day, busy evening again

February 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today has been a pretty good day.  The kids got off to school fine.  We ate lunch at home afterwards instead of stopping for fast food.  It’s beautiful out.  The kids are outside playing and I’ve got the doors open.  I’m on a conference call now (dutifully paying attention, can’t you tell?).  It’s all the calm before the storm though.

As soon as I’m off I have to get a shower, take S to Scott’s gm, go to band practice, grab something for dinner with the girls and come home and settle in for American Idol and One Tree Hill.  Whew.

There’s nothing like opening a magazine and seeing your face

February 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

That really happened to me this week. Heather and I are standing in the aisle at CVS and she’s flipping through the new Rejuvenate magazine and was all, "Hey, that’s you!"  If you didn’t know, my friend is (was) the editor of the magazine and asked me and the girls to be in the second issue last year.  This is the same picture as one in the first magazine so I guess they just used it.  No one even told me to expect it.  Fine with me though, I’ll take a celebrity moment as a surprise.

Another Lexi-ism

February 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

She’s on a roll this week….Lexi showed us a scratch from school right before we got out of the van and this was the conversation on the walk in the house.

Emma: How’d you get your scratch?

Lexi: Because.

Emma (confused): Don’t say because, say why!

Lexi: Why.

History of the Israelites – the quick version

February 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, I keep wanting to share this and I keep putting it off. I have truly been blessed while reading the Bible every single day for the last month as part of my Read the Bible in 90 Days endeavor. I’m currently in 2 Chronicles and I have just been amazed at the history of the Israelites and how much I really didn’t understand before reading it. The one question that I’ve had answered (among many) may lead people to believe I’m an idiot but nonetheless, I didn’t understand…who in the world were the Israelites?

You can read a ton about them on the Internet. It doesn’t take a genius to read up on it but here are the basics. Please, please, please correct me if I’m not saying something right but this is my understanding as of now.

  1. Abraham was in Canaan when God promised him he’d give him lots of people (a great nation) and all that land around him.
  2. Abraham had Isaac.
  3. Isaac had Jac0b.
  4. God renamed Jac0b Israel.
  5. Jac0b/Israel had 12 sons one of which was Joseph.
  6. Joseph was sold by his brothers into slavery and ended up in Egypt.
  7. Joseph became a big man in Egypt.
  8. There was a famine.
  9. Joseph’s father, Jac0b, told his brothers to go buy food in Egypt.
  10. Joseph reunited with his family and they all moved to Egypt.
  11. Their family and descendants are all called Israelites.
  12. They become too numerous and Pharaoh gets scared and puts them all into slavery.
  13. From there, you should know that the story picks up with “Let my people go” and eventually leads them back to Canaan, the Promised Land, which God promised Abraham.

But the short of it is the Israelites are Jac0b/Israel’s descendants.

Right, wrong?

Am I the only person on the planet that never really understood who the Israelites where and why they were in Egypt to begin with and what that had to do with Abraham?

Make it stop

February 4, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Another very long day today.  Made some decent progress while at work and more importantly enjoyed a donut at breakfast and Flo’s Filet at lunch.  Yes, that is why I really go to the office.  The food.  It’s all about the food.

After getting home, Scott was off to work and I quickly gave into Emma’s request to go to Taco Bell.  I was still stuffed from lunch though and only ate some nachos.  After that, we made stops at Blockbuster and CVS.

This evening I spent time on one of the web sites I’m working on and then have been Interneting while watching a movie.

And now here it is almost midnight again and I’m struggling to keep my eyes open.  And I still have my Bible session to finish.  I guess I better go get started.   Can you feel the enthusiasm?
