Meeting of two Bloggy Friends

October 12, 2008 by Amy

Lately there seems to be onslaught of meeting people I’ve met online first.  Yesterday was yet another occasion.  For regular readers and especially commentators, you may recognize Carolyn.  She is a fellow One Tree Hill fan and has been a great supporter of this site (and me) for a few months even though she doesn’t blog herself.  She lives in Canada and is currently on vacation at a local beach.  Her, husband and her two children drove four hours yesterday to come visit us!

We showed them around here and visited for a time before heading out to the mall for a bit to find some Converse shoes for her daugher (you know I had to help another female looking for a pair of shoes!).  After coming home, the kids played and the men chatted while I cooked dinner.  We had a late, but good dinner together and then played some Wii and had a cup of coffee before they headed back to the beach.

I have to say it’s amazing meeting someone you meet online first.  It’s this weird mix of being awkward at first and yet knowing that you know so much about one another.  We quickly settled in and were like old friends.  The girls took so well to her daugher and even Carolyn.  By the end of the night, they were curled up beside her and she read books to them.

It was a lovely visit and I hope to take up their offer to visit them in Canda soon!

How fun. I’m really wanting to meet a bunch of blogging friends, but also was concerned about the awkwardness. Glad it went away.

Left you a little award at the old blog. Come and see.

Mama Belle’s last blog post..It’s all about MEME and an award.

Back before blogging, I had a pen pal – from the time I was 12 until I was 18. We finally met at 18, and there was some awkwardness … nothing like sharing your dirty little teenage secrets in letters to someone you think you’ll never meet – and then there she is, and she knows ALL about you! We had a great day, though, despite that. Sadly, she joined the Air Force and I went off to college and we lost touch. I should look for her!

We would love for you to be able to visit us in Toronto soon! I cannot guarantee that the weather will be as nice as it was for our visit with you but I can promise great shopping and all the baklava you can eat!

We all had a fantastic time meeting you and your beautiful family. Matthew and Leila have written journal entries for school about all of you. Matthew’s is about Scott’s cruiser and Leila’s is about the girls and her new shoes.

Thank you again for opening your home to us. It was the highlight of my vacation.

We hope that you will be able to visit us in Toronto sometime soon. I cannot guarantee that the weather will be as nice as it was for our visit with you but I can promise great shoe shopping and all the baklava you can eat!

Having a chance to meet you in person was an amazing experience. You have a beautiful family and the warmth you showed us will be remembered always.
