My Favorite Things Giveaway – My Package

September 17, 2008 by Amy 11 Comments

I told Laura I’d wait to open My Favorite Things Giveaway package but I COULDN’T DO IT!  Silly me used UPS Ground instead of USPS like she did so even though we shipped on the same day, we didn’t get them the same day. So here are the packages I received.  So many and the she had clues attached to each one that were fun!  But I was clueless until I handled them and could kind of guess a few of them.

So here is what I got:

  1. Inspirational Journal
  2. Notecards that are definitely a design *I* would pick out
  3. Spa socks – I will definitely use these!
  4. Fuzzy slipper socks – I love socks in the winter!
  5. Wine glass jewelry thingies that her and her son made.  Sorry we don’t drink wine so I’m clueless but I LOVE them and plan to use them anyway.
  6. Jessica Seinfeld’s Cookbook which I was ecstatic about!  I keep hearing of people making stuff out of it!
  7. Bath & Body Works wallflowers which is actually already a favorite of mine so I was happy to get another one.
  8. Bath & Body works gel and lotion
  9. Sisters picture frame…can’t decide whether to put me and Heather or my girls in 😉
  10. “There’s No Place Like Home” sign which matches perfectly with my house and it’s so cute!

Thank you, Laura!  This was so much fun and I can’t wait to do one again!

Privileged

September 16, 2008 by Amy 4 Comments

Sooo…posts have been slow around here, no?  Welll…I have this new little project I’ve been working on.  I may or may not have gone and created ANOTHER blog.  And it may or may not be about ANOTHER teen drama.   And if I had, you might find it over here.

The site is not nearly done. I still have a lot of work to do especially with the design and getting all the ad systems worked out.  I’m finding I already have competition from a few fan sites so we’ll see how this one goes.  I watched the premiere last week and thought it had some great moments.  This show isn’t CW’s “baby” but I really think it has potential and I’d rather get started earlier than later.   So there, that’s where all my extra, extra time is going right now.

The Latest Health Thing

September 15, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

So the latest “health thing” I’ve been turned on to is Isagenix.  Honestly, I don’t know a whole lot about it.  What I do know is they’re big on cleansing your body of toxins and keeping all the right things in there.  Which is one of the Seven Pillars I read about and have yet to implement.

I think a lot of people use this system to lose weight and I know it works as my mom has lost about 5 lbs so far while doing it but they also have a “maintenance” system which I’m planning to go on.  I have no idea what to expect except that the first two weeks are very aggressive and there are shakes and pills and little pieces of chocolates involved and the lady said I will probably lose inches and probably 5 lbs.  That also puts me right at my NYC Hot Blogger trip so I’m all for it.  Really?  I’m just hoping I don’t spend that weekend in the bathroom “cleansing”.

Girls’ Bedroom Continued

September 15, 2008 by Amy 6 Comments

I showed the girls’ new bedding since we switched everyone’s mattresses around here but this weekend we found a great dresser and bedside table for the room.  We now have their clothes all combined in that dresser and just have their shoes in the playroom in Lexi’s old 5 drawer dresser.  I’m hoping to get Scott to build a cubby hole shoe system to keep in the playroom or maybe in Emma’s closet if we can get that thing cleaned out enough.

Just a side note we rode to the furniture store THREE times this weekend..and it’s 45 minutes away.  We went Friday night and picked it out, not taking a truck so we could all ride together.  Saturday morning Scott went while I was at bible study to pick it up.  When I got home and he got the bedside table out, it had glue stuff on it so we had to go BACK to exchange it.  4.5 hours of driving for these pieces.  But it’s really looking like a little girls’ room now!  Mom is going to make a dust ruffle and pillow shams and I’m going to get a print of their tea party and put it on the wall as well.

Favorite Things Swap – On its way!

September 12, 2008 by Amy 3 Comments

Alrighty, folks.  Laura and I are both ready to ship our packages and I am SO EXCITED.  Both for her to get this and to get what she sends.  Even from the packaging, you get a taste of my favorite things…I love brown and lime green!  No, I’m not the best packaging person ever but I think the paper is cute (and free thanks to Walgreens!  ahem, Laura, you didn’t hear that).  I had one item that I wanted to get but it just didn’t work out but every item is something that I love.  Some new, some old favorites.  The next time you’ll see these things, they’ll be unwrapped and pictured on Laura’s blog!  I can’t wait!

The Friday Five: Morbid Questions

September 12, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

Almost don’t want to do this but it’s pretty thought-provoking.

1. If you were to die today, what would your last words be?

Hopefully I won’t ever have to plan these but I would like them to relate to the love of my family and my love for God.

2. What would you want your epitaph to say?

My name means Beloved so I would want something in there about Beloved. I know Beloved wife, daughter, mother, friend are overused but I think that means something a little more special for me.  I’d like it to somehow state that I try to live for God and hopefully that I’ve touched others in some way.

3. What song would you want played at your funeral?

It is Well.  Mostly because I believe my death is already in God’s hands and the same God that sustained me in life and took it as well will comfort and sustain those I leave behind.

1.	When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
	when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Refrain:
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.

2.	Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
	let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
	(Refrain)

3.	My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
	(Refrain)

4.	And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
	the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
even so, it is well with my soul.

4. In lieu of flowers, what should loved ones do in your honor?

Give to the church or sponsor a child through Compassion or another Christian related organization.

5. What unfinished business would you wrap up?

If God takes my life, I truly don’t think I have unfinished business.  Selfishly I would say raising my girls is a task I’d like to see through but really when does that job every end?

Found at Tamara’s blog

“Sometimes I’d like to ask God why He allows poverty, famine and injustice in the world when He could do something about it……

But I’m afraid God might ask me the same question.”

Fall TV Schedule

September 11, 2008 by Amy 14 Comments

My schedule, as if already not full enough, is getting ready to become busier because drumroll, the fall TV season is starting.  Important stuff, people.  Here’s what my nights will look like:

Sunday

  • Desperate Housewives

Monday

  • One Tree Hill
  • Gossip Girl
  • Dancing with the Stars *probably DVR and watch later
  • The Hills * usually watch online later

Tuesday

  • 90210
  • Privileged
  • House *probably will DVR and watch immediately following Privileged.  of course, that is the one show that Scott and I both love so Privileged might have to take a back seat

Wednesday

  • Private Practice

Thursday

  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • The Office *will have to DVR because of the time but will probably watch it immediately following Grey’s. LOST
  • LOST * forgot this one at first

Other shows to be added in as they premiere: The Bachelor and American Idol.  I WOULD watch Survivor, Biggest Loser, Fringe, and Prison Break IF I could fit in.

Privileged and 90210 are new to my schedule this year.  Both of them have had strong starts and don’t anticipate them dropping from my radar.  I’m all for the teen dramas LOL.

I fell off the wagon watching Gossip Girl at the end of last year with all the One Tree Hill stuff going on.  I caught up I think on 6 episodes just today and WOW it has gotten really good.  Too bad I have a friend that has a Gossip Girl blog because I’d be ALL over that.

And while I’m at it, I have to recommend surfthechannel.com to catch up on any shows that you didn’t DVR.  What shows are you watching this fall?
