Date Night

September 4, 2008 by Amy 6 Comments

Tonight is going to be date night!  We’re going to a fondue place called The Melting Pot.  We’ve never been but everyone (except Mom and Dad) rave about it so I hope it’s good.  We’re going with two couples from church one of which we don’t get to hang out with as often as we like so I think it’s going to be a fantastic time together.  Mom agreed to watch the girls and get them to bed for school in the morning.  If you’ve been to this place or one like it, what do you recommend?

So nevermind on that…

September 3, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Turns out Hanna isn’t as bad as they thought and Scott’s duty at the coast got canceled (for now anyway)!  Hoorah!

And THEN, I found out the pageant director is willing to rent one of her dresses for sale for only $20!! The dress is selling for $800!!  So all we have to do is go try it on tonight and we’re set for the pageant this weekend.

So there.  My week just got a lot less stressful.

Mattress Switcharoo – The girls’ room

September 3, 2008 by Amy 7 Comments

I promised pictures of the girls room since their bed got upgraded.  The first picture is the “before”.  We moved the dresser to where the bed is and now have the Queen size bed where the dresser was.  We need to get some pictures on the wall but I’m loving the new bedding…and the girls do too!

The Gypsy Princess

September 3, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

No disrespect to gypsies in the least…Emma always loved dressing up but Lexi?  She doesn’t dress up. She lives and breathes Princess dresses, rings, necklaces and bracelets.  We always say she’s the accessory queen.  You can’t even see the 3 foot long streams of ribbon attached to the back of that head piece.  Lexi is known to wear a necklace and two or three of those huge Princess rings with her regular clothes.  Mom just bought her a purse and she carries it to stores as if she actually needs it.  I’m just thinking she could fit the part of Disney’s Esmeralda

My Favorite Things Swap..what she WON’T be getting

September 2, 2008 by Amy 4 Comments

I found out Laura is my swap partner for the Favorite Things Swap.  We have less than 3 weeks to get our gifts to each other.  I’m actually really excited because not only do I get to shop for things *I* like, I get a big box of WRAPPED goodies in a box in return.  Ohh, I can not wait.  And who said gifts weren’t my love language??

But Laura and I have decided on a cap for the amount of cash we’re going to spend so alas, most of my favorite, favoritist (new word, donchaknow?) things won’t be bought for her.  So if I were Oprah and had a gazillion dollars to hand oh, a few hundred people my Top 5 Favorite Things right now (that would easily fit in a box):

#5 My entire collection of One Tree Hill DVDs (only 3 of 5 shown here)

#4 Ann Taylor Pants in Black.  In her size of course.  Because they fit like a glove.

#3 Flip Video

#2 Digital Canon SLR

And of course #1 iPhone

I have a few more favorite things but they are being sent to Laura!  Stay tuned for what goes in her box!

So what say you?  Good choices?  What would be your favoritist-things-you-can’t-afford-to-buy-anyone-else?

More Happenings this Week

September 2, 2008 by Amy 3 Comments

OK, so I guess there’s this little storm called Hanna heading our way.  And while we’re far enough from the coast probably to not have to evacuate or anything, Scott’s job unfortunately covers all of South Carolina during emergencies so he has been put on “the list” to go to the coast this week.  He probably will leave tomorrow and I’m not sure when he’ll back.  That really stinks.

In other news, Lexi decided as of this weekend she definitely wanted to do the pageant.  Emma wants no part in it.  Suprise, surprise.  She even told Lexi, “You know, Lexi, there’s going to be A LOT more people there than you think.”  Lexi was undaunted and still plans to go on stage to wave to everyone.  You mention it, and she sticks her tongue out, shakes her head yes, her whole body starts wiggling and jumping up and down.  Yeah, she’s ready.  Like a puppy getting ready to get a treat.  She’s excited.  It’s Saturday at 3 and of course I have no dress for her to wear.  It has to be an above-the-knee dress so while she has a ton of dresses, none are really suitable for the pageant.  So this week I will have to spend some time shopping for that.

Among all this, my OTH site EXPLODED after the premiere.  Seriously, we had 90K page views yesterday and I’m just trying to keep up with everything and oh, I’m supposed to be redesigning the youth group’s site right now too.  And should I even mention I have all my normal “real work” and housework to do?  Whew, this week is going to be a busy one.

Another start to school

September 2, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

Vacation is officially over and not a good start to this week.  My iPhone ringer was turned so low I did not hear the alarm at all.  I woke up at 7:45 on my own.  Right when the tardy bell rings at school.  I somehow was able to get us all dressed and out there door in 15 minutes.

The bad thing is this was supposed to be the morning that Emma walked from the van to class by herself.  I tried to get her to walk from the office to the class by herself but it was a no-go.  Then I walked to the end of her hall and tried to get her a go.  She simply could not make herself leave me.  She started crying pretty hard and I ended up walking her down the hall so she wouldn’t disturb the classes.  She had stopped crying by the time she got to class and went in ok.  Now I feel like we’re starting over again.

Lexi on the other hand went into her first day of preschool with no problems AT ALL.  She barely turned to say bye when she walked in her class.  In fact when were trying to drop Emma off Lexi kept saying, “Mommy, when I go to big school, I will walk to my class by myself.”

They’re just two different kids.  I can’t explain it.

I’m still in shock over how my sister saved a drowning dog yesterday.  You must read this.
