80’s Music Day

I opened my iTunes library to a random spot and saw a bunch of 80s music that got copied to my computer from a friend that I had never seen. I promptly started an 80s music playlist and this is going to be a long one. I’m in the D’s out of 380 songs and here’s what’s on my list so far….

Yeah, so that basically sums up my evening. CVS, dinner, CVS, CVS. Scott had $20 worth of ECBs that were going to expire today and somebody waited to the last minute to spend them. You know it’s hard to spend $20 worth of ECBs at CVS? So what’d I get?

1 6-pack Glucerna Drinks
5 bottles of CVS Tylenol
2 Lady Stick deodorants
Colgate Toothbrush
2 Colgate Toothpastes
Monster Drink

I actually only paid $3 oop for all that but it was worth about $50.

So I’m going a little out of the rules and I’m going to post about 7 random things that are on my desk right now.

My laptop. Owned by the large bank I work for. Without that laptop, I have no job.
My mouse pad. It’s from the company I interned for during college. I’m too cheap to spend the money on a new mouse pad since you can get so many free ones but I haven’t found another one I like as well.
Empty Starbucks White Mocha. Scott bought it for me this morning because I was already having a bad day…awww…
CVS April Monthly catalog. Because I’m a CVS-er and I’ve been too lazy to put it in my coupon bag.
My iPhone. Because it goes where I go.
A picture of me and Scott. A youth member had it printed and framed for me.
Emma’s hairbows. Because she loves to play computer games at my desk and left it there and once again, I’m too lazy to put it where it goes.

Quickie

OK, I really do want to try to go to bed early tonight. Why? Oh, because I worked until NINE tonight. Heather and I went to Longhorn’s since I hadn’t eaten dinner the whole time and boy, was it worth it. But now I’m ready to crash.

Oh and our hardwoods are still on backorder and we have a NEW date of April 14. Doncha know I’m happy about THAT?

Check-up

The girls had their 3 and 5 year old check-up today. The girls were quite entertaining to the dr. Not shy at all. Lexi says she wants to be 5 like Emma when she grows up. Emma wants to be a dentist. Emma is 90% in height and 50% in weight. Lexi is 90% in height and 75% in weight. Both are developing fine. He seems to agree with me that Lexi’s #2 potty issues are because of Emma’s issues and now that Emma is having no issues, Lexi might warm up to the whole idea in the next 6 months.

One fun thing from today was peeing in the cup for the first time. We tried when we first got there and neither could do it. But they both had to go at the end and I really wanted Lexi’s sugar checked. So I wised up the second time and didn’t put the cup anywhere near them until they started going and then caught it midstream. Wow, this topic is GREAT to blog about. I had to do some major handwashing at the end but they both were pretty excited about it after that. Whatever tests they did came back fine. I double-checked they checked Lexi’s sugar and it was fine.

Happy April Fool’s Day

I sorta meant to go to bed early tonight. Since I didn’t sleep well last night, I’ve been pretty tired and worn out today but here it is 11:32pm and I’m still up. So here are a few things from today…

The past two days I’ve almost completely taken sugar away from the girls. I think after getting so lax after Easter they were acting completely out of control this weekend. I only let them have 1 small box of nerds yesterday. No juice, no sugary snacks, nothing. Today I let them have a soda (Lexi) and milkshake (Emma) at dinner and that’s it. Well, I have let them have a bit of chocolate in their milk in the morning. But the rest of the day..it’s been all water. Lexi puts up a fuss but eventually gives in. And in my opinion, they have been better.
I also started a chore chart yesterday including getting dressed, brushing hair, brushing teeth, making bed, feeding the dog, and no whining. Lexi doesn’t get the no whining thing but she was disappointed she didn’t get to fill in that box with a sticker tonight so I told her we’d try again tomorrow. And as for the getting ready part for her, I still have to help her with that so she gets a sticker if she does it without complaining. Emma is ALL ABOUT the stickers. She was asking what she could do to fill in her chart early in the day both days. It’s funny how kids like rules. Hat tip to Jaynee on getting that started with hers.
Tomorrow I take them to their yearly checkups. Probably some shots involved there. Should be lots of fun.
The project at work we implemented over the weekend went very, very well. My plate is not nearly as full now. Although I will enjoy those few weeks of OT very much in the next few weeks.
Tomorrow is the day the floors supposedly come in. I’m not expecting them at all.
My head and heart have been rolling around today about what “to do” now. I plan to do lots of praying about it. I’ll tell you one thing, my heart is really breaking for all the poverty and pain people are going through around me. I want to do something about it but I feel a little lost and I really want a clearer vision of how I (we) should be involved.
Scott is almost certainly going back to Turkey in May.

AI Top 9

I really like Dolly Parton. And I think her songs went over well. In fact, I think this has been my favorite week. Maybe because we’re down to some real talent, who knows. Nah, the second Beatles week was torture, I don’t care who sang it.

Anyway, here are my thoughts:

Brooke – I love her voice and think she is just so genuine and cute. To me, she’s like a mini Faith Hill. I liked her song although it wasn’t my favorite from her, she did well.

Ramiele- Her heart just doesn’t seem into it anymore or something. I didn’t see that powerhouse of a singer I know she is. I really think she just needs to go home 🙁

Jason – I thought the song was great although he seemed to be barely singing at parts of the song.

David C – He’s growing on me but I just can’t get over the Chris Daughtry-ness of him. He was good tonight and I liked his song.

David A – The old David is back and I was wowed when he almost had Dolly in tears in rehearsal.

Syesha – That was nice but it’s I Will Always Love You. Come on, it’s just an AI don’t.

Kristy – Seemed in her element. Don’t want her to go quite yet. She seems to be gaining confidence and sounding better.

Michael Johns – another strong week for him. I liked it.

Carly – I absolutely loved her performance tonight and I think she’s my favorite in fact.

I think Ramiele should go but seeing she wasn’t even in bottom 3 last week has me worried she won’t go. Maybe Syesha going? Maybe Kristy?

The venture – scratch that.

This is going to sound very weird and probably way too serious after the previous post but I’ve backed out of the show on streamocracy. To make a long story short, I just feel like God is not giving me His blessing on it. Not that there is a thang wrong with it in the least it’s just I think He’s got something different coming down the line.

Now here’s the long story of it…

I always say God is in the little things and a few things have been brought to my attention that leads me to believe this is the right decision for now.

One, Beth Moore talked about on her LPM blog that we should quit trying to explain away when God does things as coincidences. I think this post prepared me for two more incidences.

On Sunday we had a very Spirit filled service mostly about our church being so dead and how we wanted to see revival and us young couples are the future. I know we all have a burden to be active for God and do what needs to be done for Him. I felt an impression then that I didn’t need to do the streamocracy show so I would have time to do whatever He had planned for the future of our church. But of course I tried to explain that away. Of course I had time.

The second was on Sunday afternoon. I picked up a devotional at Mom’s house and I wish I could recall the entire thing but I believe it was about Eli and Samuel and the minute we know when God asks us to do something and we go to someone else for advice, that’s the minute we are siding with Satan and agreeing with what he wants instead of what God wants.

Yesterday I had even made the call to say I wasn’t going to do it but then I got really excited about it again and explained away the time and even shared another audition of the show that we got really excited about and I was just excited so I said I’d do it even with the compromised schedule.

But then last night I couldn’t sleep. I’ve felt no peace about this at all. And then today I even was bargaining with God on the way home from taking the girls. Let me just forget about this and I’ll turn the music on and praise you this morning! Wrong! All He wanted me to do was OBEY Him. But of course He used this as an opportunity too. No music was on and the host told a story of her son asking to spend the night with a friend and she didn’t have a good feeling about it. Her son said, Mom just think about it and let me know. Well, she still didn’t feel good about it and called him back to tell him and he told her That’s fine, Mom, I know you’re always right about these things and I’m fine with not going. She said how great it was that her son trusted her instinct (and surely the pressing of the Holy Spirit) and how that parallels to what God would like to see.

It brought me to tears and solidified my decision. I have no idea why I can’t do this. It seems so innocent and fun and I simply can not explain why I can’t do it. I just have to be God’s daughter right now and quit bargaining and say OK. I trust you.

I’m praying that God is very clear on the reason why I can’t do this so I can give Him glory on why it’s great to obey but the truth is I may never know until eternity why I can’t do this. And that’s ok. If I learned anything from reading the Bible, all He wants is obedience.
