That one day we didn’t get out of bed until 9:38

January 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

The girls stayed at home last night and I thought we were in for an early morning when they were both asleep by 8pm.  But somewhere in the night Lexi ended up in our bed with Scott and I ended up in the girls’ bed with Emma.  And we all stayed asleep until 9:38am.  It was grand.

We got up and got us and the girls ready and took them over to his parents.  We made a trip to CVS and then came home and opted to eat lunch in and clean up some.  I actually got to reorganize my office shelves which were a disaster and under my bathroom counter which was even more of a disaster.  After that, Scott and I just vegged on the couch and watched Shopgirl.

This evening was spent at Chili’s celebrating D’s birthday.  It literally took all evening because we waited an hour and a half to get a table for 14 people.  The girls went right to bed when we got home and now instead of blogging I really need to be studying for Sunday School in the morning.

That day I argued with a gas pump and got a new laptop

January 4, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Work was decent today although busy.  The day started out a little wobbly when I was fighting with the gas pump when it kept beeping at me to pick which gas I wanted and I kept telling it (literally) I had.  Turns out I had picked up the Diesel pump and was trying to pick regular gas.  Good thing those hose thingies are different sizes and it’s smart enough not to pour out regular gas when you choose it while holding the diesel pump or I’d have had a mess on my hands.

Anyway.

I had two meetings today, a great Mexican lunch, had coworkers put in power steering fluid in my car when it started making very odd noises and would hardly turn, gave up the pager, got a new laptop after mine died randomly today and came home a little late.  Some good, some bad but all busy today.

This evening was spent at Mom’s and the girls were asleep as soon as we got home at 8.  I’m trying to catch up on my computer time I didn’t have today.  I seriously think I might need to go to an addiction center for computers.

We have no plans for tomorrow and the house is in an almost clean state.  Just some dusting and cleaning of the bathrooms should take care of it.   Sounds like it should be an easy going Saturday and Sunday for us.

Light Day

January 4, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today will be a day of light postings…I’m headed into the office today.

Before I go…I just read biblegateway’s scripture for today (on my right sidebar) and it’s the same one as my Sunday Scripture post from this week.  How cool!

Not going to be so serious with today’s list…

  • Heat!  It’s so cold here today!
  • School starting back today.
  • Printer ink..haha..my order finally got delivered this week.  Never knew how much I used my printer until it’s gone.  They always said absence makes the heart grow fonder.
  • Triple coupons at Harris Teeter this week.  Yay!
  • Unisom.  I probably wouldn’t get any sleep without it.
  • DirecTV.  I got to record Gossip Girl last night and Scott didn’t have to watch it.
  • Working from home.  I got to type up this list while I’m on a conference call.

That was a bad American Idol audition

January 2, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m nearing my breaking point with this youth band thing.  I love my band members, but we were HORRIBLE tonight.  Our drummer, base guitarist and lead guitarist were all out tonight.  We had one guitarist and two vocalist.  You’d think that’d be ok but we haven’t practice in 3 weeks and we winged it.  Scott said we sounded like a bad American Idol audition.  And surely we did.  I even got so embarrassed during the thing I turned bright red.  Thank goodness we have colored lights on us on the stage.  I have a little hope a guy in our church might take over or at least help with the band but I am SO not cut out to be the lead singer of a band.  I can sing ok in a choir when I have rehearsed much but this.  I just can’t do it.  I mean I’ve been doing it for several months now but I’m to the point of not even looking forward to Wednesday nights anymore.   I really don’t want to see the end of the band and that’s the only reason I hang on.  But now two of the main guys got part-time jobs and it’s just not working without them.  The students aren’t into anymore.  The students were actually sitting down while we were singing it was so bad.  As much as I want it to work, we may just need to scrap the whole thing unless something or someone major happens.

Her becoming more independent hasn’t helped me so far

January 2, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Recently Emma has decided that she is able to make her own chocolate milk–which happens frequently around here.  I thought, WOW, this will be GREAT.  One less thing for me to do.  Then this morning it went sort of like this…

I get the cups out.

I get the milk out and help her pour it since the gallon size is almost full.

I leave the room for her to do the rest.

"Uh, Mommy, I made a mess, come clean it up please."

I walk in to find her stirring the syrup in the milk, syrup and milk on the counter and syrup on the side of the container.  I clean it up and then leave the room for her to finish.

"Uh, Mommy I can’t get the tops on the cups."

I go back to the kitchen to pop on the tops.

Really all Emma did was pour in the syrup, get the spoon and stir.  And I had an extra two trips back into the kitchen and an extra mess to clean up.  I’m thinking that’s three extra things for me to do instead of one less thing for me to do.
