I Told You I

February 13, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

So yeah, I couldn’t help myself.  In my American Idol recap yesterday I guess I was kind of serious about the fan site.

I’ve been a little busy.

And before Heather slays me, she helped with the MySpace account.

You can visit all of these at http://www.iheartdannygokey.com!

American Idol Top 36

February 12, 2009 by Amy 8 Comments

Although the episode of American Idol itself was kind of boring, it was nice to see less drama and some really good talent on the screen most of the night.  I actually really liked the sing-off they had at parts.

I think the big shockers of course are Tatiana and Norman.  Both have good voices I think but how do you vote for that?

Danny Gokey is still my favorite.  I like his story, his personality, his background, his singing, his look.  I make-a-fan-site-love him.  And I might just do that.  His cousin has made a fan site for him.  A random fan has also started a site but it’s really hard to navigate and already isn’t up to date.  So yeah, maybe that is next.

Wow, off that tangent.

Other than that, I’m really happy overall with Top 36.  Top 12 is going to be extremely strong and I don’t think any of them can really lose.   If I had to pick Top 12 right now here’s who I’d pick:

Danny Gokey FTW, Anoop Desai, Lil Rounds (she’s really good and will be in there but I can’t get behind her for some reason), Matt Giraud, Mishavonna Henson, Ricky Braddy, Megan Corkery, Kai Kalama, Jackie Tohn, Brent Smith, Casey Carlson, Ricky Braddy (thx to Jaynee).

Getting back to normal

February 12, 2009 by Amy Leave a Comment

Yesterday was very low-key.  Emma laid around all day with a fever although the vomiting stopped.  Scott seemed to be in and out all day on his day off keeping himself busy while Lexi piddled around the house until MIL came to get her after work.

We finished the night watching a decent episode of American Idol and I capped it off with another crazy episode of Lost.

Emma had a fever up until  she went to bed so Emma is home with me again today.  Lexi is off to school where she’ll enjoy their Valentine’s Party and Scott is working.  We’re definitely on our way back to normal.

Tonight Mom’s business is hosting a fundraiser/decorating conference that I’m supposed to be helping with so I guess Scott and the girls will hang out at the house for the evening while I’m doing that.

Wake me when it’s over

February 11, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

Yesterday was bad and last night got even worse.

I have PMS which means every little thing that goes wrong is like the end of the world.  So when I spilled chocolate drink all over my desk, rug and laptop and then Lexi spilled her ice cream and I had to tell someone no and I had to prepare for small groups last night and wasn’t even sure if anyone was coming and we ate out for both meals and I felt like crap both times and….well there is more but you get the picture….it felt like a disaster.  The day would just not end.

So I went to bed early only to be woken up by Emma with a bad fever.  I got up to give her Tylenol only to be woken up about six more times with Emma throwing up.  We were changing sheets, washing clothes, wiping mouths, etc.  The good news is Emma figured out how to throw up into the toilet so it wasn’t nearly as messy as Lexi last weekend.

Oh and I haven’t mentioned the fact the cleaning lady was scheduled today.  But then Lexi didn’t have school today and Scott got the day off.  So we were trying to figure out how to get everyone out of the house for a few hours.  And then when Emma got sick and is home from school, I just had to cancel the cleaning.

So blah.

The Bachelor: Episode 6

February 10, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

I love hometown dates on The Bachelor.  But I think last night included some highlights of the entire series.

Jillian – Darnit, I didn’t want to like Jillian. I  don’t know why.  Maybe because I like Melissa so much but as we all know, hometown visits changes things.  I really, really liked Jillian’s family.  Her dad was hilarious, her mother down-to-earth sweet, her sister just as gorgeous and a her grandmother side-splitting funny.  It really seemed like a great visit.  So that made me like Jillian a lot.  What I’m not sure of is if I can see Jason and Jillian getting married.  I saw that they had a good time and connected deeper than they have but I just don’t see that excitement out of Jason.

Molly – The hats freaked me out.  The sketching freaked me out.  I REALLY wanted to like Molly’s family but I got a little freaked.out.  And knowing you get the family with the girl, I’m not sure Jason felt entirely comfortable with them.  I could be REALLY wrong though.  We never see the whole picture.  Chris Harrison blogged this:

There are a few entertaining things you didn’t get a chance to see on this date. Jason played beer pong with Molly’s family for a couple hours. Also not shown (but you will see it on the Women Tell All special) was Jason losing a bet on the golf course to Molly and having to take his pants off and give them to her. He walked off the course in his boxers!

But from the commentary, I don’t think Jason is feeling it with Molly yet.  I think they’re still way back on 2nd or 3rd date status and haven’t really connected like he wants.  And from the looks of the previews, Jason’s going to address why she hasn’t let her walls down yet.

Naomi That was THE MOST WEIRDEST UNCOMFORATBLEST AWKWARDESS hometown EVER.  The hula hoops, the dove, reincarnation, psychics, I love Jesus.  And darnit, I love Jesus too and it was all just weird!  Thanks for representin’, Hector!  What I can’t believe is that it took so much effort on Jason’s part to send Naomi home…incredibly difficult???  Was he just trying to be nice.  He only had to pick ONE to send home.  It worries me that it was such a tough decision.

Melissa I’ve been rooting for Melissa the whole time but while this went well, Jason was satisified.  I honestly believe she was the front runner (did you see that greeting??) and he needed to meet her family to propose.  And while there are no hula hoops and dead doves, something is going on there.  And it might not be good.  But Chris says:

This is not over yet and they will continue to talk about this and deal with it next week on the exotic dates.

Here’s the thing.  They’ve brought families back on during this stage.  They can do it again.

And finally, I think DeAnna comes back to wreak havoc on the exotic dates.   Which wouldn’t that be the most DRAMATIC THING EVER….Melissa’s parents come on and you KNOW it’s Melissa UNTIL DeAnna shows up and sends  Jason in a tailspin!  LOL  I love this show.

Getting back in the saddle, er, on the elliptical

February 9, 2009 by Amy 6 Comments

At the end of 2007 we ended our membership at the gym.  We bought an elliptical and I did really well at first.  Then I got the flu some time in February or March and I really haven’t put more than an hour on it since.  And I don’t think I’m stretching the truth there.

I really have missed working out though.  I sleep better, I feel better, I eat better.  And if you don’t remember only one year working out alone, I lowered my cholesterol by 30 points.  I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s back up now.

So this weekend I randomly had Scott move our elliptical into the living room behind the couch.  Not as pretty but at least I can see the TV and be with people now.  Maybe it’s the change, but I’ve been on four days in a row!  I’m making horrible time and not lasting very long but I’m back in the saddle!

On the Humor

February 9, 2009 by Amy Leave a Comment

Emma actually got me the other day with some attempted humor.

Emma: Mommy, I don’t like you.

Me: Emma!

Emma: I don’t like you, I LOVE you! *fit of giggles*

She was quite pleased with herself for surprising me and Lexi thought it was HILARIOUS.  So now Lexi walks around attempting it all the time.

Lexi: Mommy, I don’t love you.  I DO!!

Uhhh….maybe we’ll do that one next year too.

Warm Weekend

February 8, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

We went to the park right after church today. Spent about 2 hours there. I forgot food so we went home and had our own picnic. Today was good.
