Like Father, Like Daughter #2

March 5, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

See Like Father, Like Daughter #1 for reference.

So I’m sitting here and Lexi says for me to look at the TV.  I lean over to see she wants some swimming My Little Pet Shop puppies. They do this a lot, telling me to look at the TV for toys they want.  Darn commercials.

I go back to work.

Next commercial comes on and she wants me to look at the TV, “Mommy, can we get that?”

I lean over to see the TV and it’s an OxiClean commercial.

Lexi:  If we got our dollys dirty we can get them clean.  Can we really get it?

Two of many conversations

March 5, 2009 by Amy Leave a Comment

Scott makes me laugh.  Sometimes we have the weirdest, seemingly serious, conversations just because we can. I think there’s just too much sarcasm between the two of us.  But it cracks me up.

Scott was trying to convince me to go with him to get Lexi and eat at McDonald’s.

Scott: Yes!  You should go.

Me: No, I haven’t even had a shower.  My hair and makeup aren’t done.

Scott: Well, maybe they’ll feel sorry for you and give it to you free.

OR

We have our old washer and dryer set for sale and the couple didn’t come last night to get it like they said.  I called them this morning.

Scott: Are they coming?

Me: They are supposed to call me back.

Scott: Does she look good?

Me: I don’t know.

Scott: If she does, we can cut them a deal.  You know like Indecent Proposal.

Me: I don’t think that’s how that movie worked.

Scott: Well, we don’t have a million dollars but we have a washer and dryer.

Bank, Here We Come

March 4, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

The girls made little piggy banks tonight at church to save money for a missionary fund.  Lexi asked me for money and I said I didn’t have any so she said…

Mommy, can we go to the bank and buy some money??

Upcoming Events

March 4, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

So, I have a few upcoming events that are on my mind as of late.

  • Premiere of Dancing with the Stars
  • American Idol Top 12
  • Premiere of Castle

JUST KIDDING

Real life stuff actually.

  • Wilmington!  Heather and I are going next weekend.  We may be leaving Thursday, maybe Friday morning.  I’m getting really excited to visit One Tree Hill territory and actually meet some fans, some of whom visit my OTHblog regularly.
  • Our Disney trip!  It is in 23 days.  23 days.  And I haven’t planned anything except our dinners.  The kids packed their toys last night.  Of course they will be unpacked by tomorrow, but still.  I need to PLAN!
  • Lexi’s State pageant in June (here is the qualifying pageant from last fall).  I just got her packet today.  The thing I hate is they require a full page ad that has to add up to $250.  Which means I have to solicit family, friends and businesses for an ad spot which honestly I hate.  I’m just trying NOT to wait until last minute.  I wouldn’t have even done the pageant but Lexi keeps asking about it and if she’s into it, well, that’s fine for now.  She says she’s doesn’t want to do it next year when I can’t go on stage with her so this might be our last pageant.  And honestly, it amazes me how she lights up on stage.  It is so foreign to me.  I get a tad nervous just walking on stage with her and I’m just the background.

American Idol Top 36 Group 3

March 4, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

Special vlogging for tonight’s review below.

All I can say, is Nate, you DO NOT want to start this trend.  It’s just scary.

headbanz

FYI, all of what I say in the video is below the video typed out. You know, just in case you can’t stand looking at the headbanz.

I felt like tonight was a hodge podge of all the ok people.  There wasn’t any huge standouts.  I wasn’t completely blown away by anyone.

Von Smith – I was not a fan coming in to tonight.  He screamed.  He seemed overly dramatic and didn’t care much for his personality.  His vocals tonight were better but I just don’t think it’s enough.

Taylor Vaifanua – She’s got a good enough voice but the performance was boring and she showed no personality whatsoever

Alex Wagner-Trufman – I love Alex.  Geeks rule!  I always appreciate his comments back to the judges.  But the moves were awkward, the voice wasn’t perfect.  Just overall not American Idol material.

Arianna Afsar – She was so boring I could not remember what she sang by the end of the episode.  And wasn’t she a little cocky…I hope they don’t comment on how good I look?

Ju’Not Joyner – He went too slow on that song but it was solid.  He sang it well.  He had some soul and personality with that.

Kristen McNamara – I agree she needs a stylist but I think she’s a solid performer.  I am also a little confused on what kind of singer she is though.

Nathaniel Marshall – I did not enjoy his song.  I think he has a voice somewhere in there but he totally ruined that song.

Felicia Barton – I don’t remember too much of her from Hollywood but I’m personally glad she came back.  I think she did Alicia Keys justice as much as someone can and she does have a little something different to her voice she can play up.  And wow, love her new hair cut.  Nice!

Scott MacIntyre – Scott is not the perfect vocalist if you ask me but he really knows how to give a song meaning and knows how to connect his audience.  And the fact that he can do that without even looking at anyone or anything is downright amazing. I want him to make it just so I can see him on the piano.  And that high-five at the end sealed the deal for me.  Hilarious!

Kendall Beard – I’ve been a country fan and still am some but I wasn’t a fan of Kendall’s tonight.  I don’t think compared to Lil or Felicia it’s enough.

Jorge Nunez – I love his heart and his passion and he has a great voice.  I’m glad Simon brought up his accent.  There happens to be an Enrique Iglesias who still has a decent Spanish accent who has done quite well for himself.

Lil Rounds – Part of me didn’t want to like Lil.  Usually I’m not a fan of the power singer.  But I think she proved why they put her in the pimp spot.  She chose a great, relatable, current song and sang the heck out of it.  She will sail through.

I’m hoping Lil, Felicia and Scott go through.

And OMG, I can’t believe I’m really going to post this.

Sometimes It’s OK Not Knowing

March 3, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

Scott: Yeah.

Me: What is it?

Scott: You don’t want to know.

I really don’t think I do.

The Bachelor: Finale and ATFR1

March 2, 2009 by Amy 4 Comments

Chris says it all the time but really this WAS the most dramatic finale.  I have changed from being irate, to sick to just sad while watching tonight’s episode.  So I read all the spoilers ahead of time.  They predicted everything that went down tonight.  The difference though is that #1 Jason doesn’t admit to seeing Molly in the 2 months since the finale and #2 Steve suspects the entire thing was planned between ABC and Jason.

I really can’t decide which I’m more mad at…the fact that I knew the spoilers and it COMPLETELY ruined Jason’s proposal to Melissa for me or the fact it went down.  I mean, I’ve been rooting for Melissa since Day 1 and he ACTUALLY PICKED HER.  I should be ecstatic! But no….I knew he was getting ready to dump her and it just made me SICK to watch that proposal.  And of course Melissa was SO happy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of the bachelorettes so entirely happy she was getting proposed to.  He finally got to say I love you.

And then the ATFR came on.  I thought it interesting Melissa seemed to already know something was up.  That was DEFINITELY NOT the hellos we’ve seen from Melissa thus far.  Jason says they’ve talked about them so maybe she already suspected.  Steve seems to think she already suspected he had been seeing Molly although Jason blatantly denied it.  Which even if the whole set-up is false, I seriously doubt that is true.

Set up or not why did he have to do this on camera?  He clearly said they’d been together during the holidays and on trips…why not then?  The only thing that makes sense is this was planned from the get-go.  Which seriously makes me go through the roof.

Tomorrow night is ATFR and I’m not even sure I can watch.  And I really liked Molly. I really did.  But now I can not stomach seeing them. I really thought I might puke when I saw them kissing at the end of tonight’s show.

I said it in Twitter and I’ll say it again, Molly seems like a nice girl, but I’ll be happy when I hear they’ve broken up.

*Update*

Two good reads

Chris Harrison’s Blog

Kristen’s Recap

After reading those I have to be honest and say I want to believe Chris and say it wasn’t scripted.  Steve NEVER said that was 100% true…that was his speculation.  I like that Kristen names him a conspiracy theorist and trust me, with all the blogs I have, I certainly have seen my fair share of them.  And usually…I don’t agree with them.

But Chris verified, yes, they came up with the idea to do it on camera and I think that’s where some of us are having issue even if it wasn’t scripted.  Also, Chris swears up and down that Molly and Jason did not see each other but that doesn’t mean that they hadn’t communicated in email/phone calls, etc.

In the end, I still feel so bad for Melissa.  They (probably not by mistake) had made it clear her old boyfriends had treated her like crap and she had been dumped over and over.  And now this time, it had to be done for the whole world to see.  I know ABC thought they “owed it to us” to see them break up and as much as it made for good TV, sometimes you have to draw the line.  If this show is really about love, then give it a little respect.  It’s one thing to show their first few dates and even the proposal but when someone is being hurt so deeply, draw the line.   Yes, at every proposal someone is hurt but they sign up for that and prepare for that.  But being blindsided like this on camera?  Not expected.  Not cool.

Girl Who Called Snake

March 2, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

At the dinner table.

Lexi, dramatically: Emma, I’m serious.  You have a spider on your elbow.

*giggles*

Emma, even more dramatically: I’m really serious, Lexi.  There is a snake right behind you.

*giggles*

Me: Girls, you really shouldn’t say that.  What happens when one of you actually have a spider on you or a snake near you and you say you’re serious and you don’t believe her and then one of you get bit and it really hurts?

Lexi: Mommy.  You have a snake on your head.
