They Don’t Make Barbies Like They Used To

November 23, 2010 by Amy

With their birthday money, the girls have gotten several toys the past few weeks.  One of which we need to discuss.  This Barbie.  Not an actual Barbie per se but, really, a Barbie.  Actually, a pregnant Barbie.

Cool.  Pregnant Barbie.  We have had several pregnant ladies around us lately.  No wonder Emma was interested in getting this.  Actually Lexi too.  Yes, we have two of these.  Because I know you’re interested, this is what she looks like under her shirt.

I feel a little awkward pulling a lady’s shirt up and showing her pregnant belly.  I mean, some women are ok with that and then others aren’t.

But then again, this Barbie’s huge belly magically disappears so out of sheer jealousy, I will not feel bad for showing you her belly.

See?  Flat belly, happy baby.

Oh, but I’m hiding a little from you.  It’s NOT JUST A PRETEND PREGNANT BELLY.

The flat belly spins around and creates a magical hole for the baby to fit in.  And look, head down.  Barbie must be ready to deliver!

Barbie, you better get your bags, time to go to the hospital!  And deliver.  AGAIN.

Look, I can’t help it, it’s just weird.  Then again, I’m just happy the baby comes out c-section style (ish).

Have you ever seen such??

I can not believe this! Being that I have two boys I have NEVER seen this. Boy am I glad b/c I think it is very weird. I’m sure this leads to “where do babies come from” and “how do they really get out”… No thank you. God knew I needed boys 🙂 You are a trooper Amy!

You are too young to remember but Barbie had a little sister/friend? named Skipper and when I was just about Emma’s age I got the “Growing Up Skipper” doll. If you turned her arm she grew taller and got boobs. My sisters and I thought it was hilarious – I don’t think Skipper ever had her clothes on! 🙂

I remember Skipper but I do not remember growing-boobs Skipper!

When I first started reading this post, I thought “I hope there is no baby in that belly.” Wow! Did you just find this in a regular store like Target? It weirds me out too.

I got it from Toys R Us. I haven’t seen it at Target or Walmart. It comes with a whole set…an older sister, stroller and Dad.

I don’t know how I feel about this, but I definitely have never, ever seen a pregnant Barbie or a baby come out of her belly until just now. Thanks for the education. 🙂
