We are beach-bound this morning. Internet was scarce last year and I expect the same this year. If I don’t blog this week, have a great week and expect lots of posts next!

The Girls Tackle Babysitting
Tonight we babysat for Jake and Jill’s baby Kellan. He is seriously the cutest little man I know and the best baby ever, especially in his new newborn clothes. Emma and Lexi were so excited but especially Emma. If Lexi adores animals, Emma adores babies. I really think she could have watched him herself. She loves her Baby Alive babies and I KNOW that’s no comparison but she did have a little inkling on how to feed a baby so I let her help me feed him. Turns out Emma is pretty darn good at feeding a baby and she fed him two whole containers on her own. Well, Lexi helped a few times. The video is priceless. Here are some highlights:
:34 No, he eats good for me!
:45 Even though this is less messier [than feeding her Baby Alive]
1:03 Kellan’s face is priceless. “Save me!”
1:43 Lexi doing the famous wide-open mouth when trying to get the baby to do the same
3:10 Lexi’s chugga-chugga WITH the wide-open mouth
3:25 Kellan’s face. “Save me. Now.”
3:49 Emma: “He needs to concentrate on eating.”
Generally: Lexi’s random dancing and singing and Kellan’s as-always easy going attitude.
Bonus pictures: Lexi putting lipstick on me tonight. Jake and Jill, you owe me one. She wanted to put it on Kellan.
Help Me Pick a Coffee Cozy!
I’ve been selling several of my books on Amazon.com and have made trips to the local postal store. Every single time I can’t take my eyes of the baskets of handmade coffee cozies and every single time I want one but can never decide on a fabric. The had they name of the company Pink Gasoline on the tag and I was sure I’d remember that. But I couldn’t the first several times. Finally, I was able to remember it by thinking I got to the post office with gasoline and I’m a girl so it’s pink. Is it scary how my brain works?
I finally made it to their page and OH. MY. My decision-making process, which is already quite faulty, just got a lot worse. I mean, how am I supposed to choose between this:
and this
and this
and this
and this
and this
and this
and this
I mean, seriously? Do they expect me to go to Starbucks 9 times a week to keep them in heavy rotation??
Which one would you get?? Which one should I get?
Lexi: Post Hair Cut
Last picture…
Last determined look…
First cuts…
More cutting…she was as still and pleasant as they come…
Do you get the feeling she’s happy about it?
The salon puts glitter stamps on their cheeks. Even Emma got in on the action
Don’t these highlights make you a little bit jealous?
Is that a look of satisfaction or what? Oh man, are we in trouble.
I think she looks ready for Kindergarten next month, doncha think?
Bennett Headline: Lexi Wants Her Hair Cut
Big news in the Bennett Household…Lexi wants her hair cut.
Doesn’t sound like a big deal to most, but it is.
Lexi has been known for her long her from birth. She came out with hair already starting down her back.
By 3, it was down to her waist.
Then, you may remember, she cut her hair for a “fashion show” with a neighbor.
It’s grown several inches since then…
but this week she declared she wanted it cut…and now. There’s no talking her out of it. We’ve shown her old pictures, grandmothers have expressed their shock, appointments have been made but nothing seems to snap her out of it. And I’m ok with that. I thought she was cute with it short and it’s so much easier than her long, thick tangly hair.
By the end of the day we shall see if she really wanted it cut!
Lexi-ism
Lexi and I are walking out of preschool summer camp today quietly and overhear a conversation with the family and guest next to us. There was a mom, an older boy, his sister and a little girl from Lexi’s class. This is the last part we caught
Sarah: He told them his parents were in a car wreck.
Mom: Braden! You’re 9 years old. It is not nice to make stuff like that up. Kelly, I apologize for Braden’s behavior. We do not make stuff like that up in our family. Braden, you know better!
They walk off to their car and Lexi and I head towards ours.
Lexi: Sarah should get that shirt that says “My brother belongs in the zoo.”

Kohl’s Deal
I love good deals. No surprise there. Just had to tell you about this one I got at Kohl’s last night!
Yes, I paid $1.59 and saved $71! Here’s what I got:
Yes, very random (and mis-matched) stuff. I’d apologize for the unmentionables but they’re so cute and that’s what I got! I walked around with them wadded up in my hand in the store but yet I’ll put a picture of it on here. I don’t get it either.
ANYWAY, here’s how I did it:
A few weeks ago they had a really good deal on beach towels. Normally $22.99-$29.99, on sale for $7.99. So I bought EIGHT of them since we use them for the pool so much. I had a 15% coupon and THEN got back $10 in Kohl’s Cash for spending over $50. So I spent $54 for 8 towels. You can’t get half-decent beach towels at Wal-mart for that. That alone was a great deal.
Last night I used that $10 I earned and then another $5 coupon I got for signing up for their email to buy another towel, a belt, bra and underwear for $1.59. So between both purchases, I saved $200! Woot!
