Fashion Friday: Dress Like a Mad Man

December 30, 2011 by Amy

Or, Mad Woman.  Well, not a Mad Woman.  Oh golly, Buy a Dress Like the Ones They Wear on Mad Men.  Hmph!  Have I mentioned my love of the show Mad Men?  At least the first 3 seasons.  I was not fond of Season 4’s storylines one bit.  But the first three are dramatic gold.  Sure it’s dark and twisty and there’s not a redeemable character to be found but the writing!  the acting!  the sets!  the clothes!  If nothing else, Season 1 is worth the look (all 4 seasons are on Netflix).

I bumped into this store on etsy where you can have CUSTOM dresses made that will make you look like Joan Harris.  Well, in my case, without the perfect curves.  But custom made!  A pencil dress that actually fits like a glove!  Just look at these:

*swoon*

If the pictures and price didn’t sell me, the feedback did:

I never had such a great fit ! Excellent workmanship, beautifull fabric and great communication made this a very positive experience.

The dress is absolutely amazing and rich in color! I got it in purple with gray trim and in swing skirt. The fabric is high quality. It fits me beautifully. I can’t wait to wear it.

…thank you so much for the fast work, the dress arrived today, it’s very beautiful and fits perfect (as always ;-)).

i could not be happier with this purchase. the dress fits amazingly well and the design works really nicely with plus-size measurements.

I love that they’re modest and most are modern enough that people won’t realize your nod to the 50s and 60s.  She’s got many, many more styles, most of which I could not pull off but I would gladly walk around in one every day if I could!

The best part is I contacted the store owner Cynthia and she graciously gave me a 10% discount for YOU: HEART10.  If you like it, how about pinning it?

OK, so go visit the store and tell me which you would (or will) order!  I’m having a hard time deciding!

OMYGOSH I love those!!!!!!! I am all about a fitted sheath dress, but since I am high waisted sometimes I have trouble finding the perfect fit.

Yes! I have problems in the bust area. Usually if it fits my hips, it’s WAY too big on the top. The idea it would fit like a glove has me so excited! And you really can’t beat the price for custom.

These dresses are gorgeous! I don’t want anything fitting me like a glove at the moment, but perhaps someday. 🙂

You know, I just started 30 Day Shred last week and I keep thinking maybe I should wait until I’m done to take any measurements. I think I’m in denial about how I will look in them compared to the beautiful models.

Love them all but I like the one the readhead is wearing, that teal color is too gorgeous. Make sure to share when you get your purchase!

OMG I LOVE THESE! Do you think they would still look good on someone with, um, no chest? I have a hard time pulling off shapely styles and usually go with wrap dresses…

I have exactly ZERO chest which is why a pencil dress never fits me right. I’m hoping that the custom fit fixes this!

These are amazing!!! Being perfectly tailored is the key to looking super chic – and these must fit like a glove! (I could spend all day on Etsy, couldn’t you?)

      Yes, etsy is quite dangerous!
