We bought a Jeep today.

February 21, 2004 by Amy

We bought a Jeep today. Scott just needed something to run around town in and ended up with a really nice vehicle. I think we got a steal at $2200. Scott is like a kid in a candy store now. He immediately cleaned the whole thing which thank goodness led to my car getting vacuumed out. He’s making mental lists of things he wants to do with it. It already has a 4 1/2″ lift kit on it and a 6 CD changer with an extra cartridge. Plus, the seats and headliner are in good condition. The paint is fairly new and the engine seems solid.

Emma had an awful time last night. She went to bed perfectly for Scott at 8 at my in-laws where we spent the night but when we went in the room at about 11 to go to sleep, she woke up and then tossed and turned in bed with us until about 2. She had a fever from her shots at the dr yesterday and it finally went away after we gave her some Motrin. She is just now taking a nap. She will be out for awhile I’m guessing.

Yesterday she went to the dr for her 15 month checkup. She is 32 1/4″ tall (90%), 22 lbs (48%) and everything is perfect according to the dr.

I went to Spartanburg to see my friends MH & MC who are each getting married this year. We tried on the dress for MC’s wedding and they were gorgeous. MH told us each we could pick any dress we wanted, but just had to keep the same color. We ended up picking the same dress! It is really pretty.

I took pictures of all this stuff and plan to post later tonight.

AWWW! Emma got really smart

AWWW! Emma got really smart today and can now suddenly point to her nose and her head and when I point to her fish, she waves her hand back and forth like I have been doing. And then I also taught her to do a monkey move with her arm and when Scott was reading her a book with a monkey, she started doing it without any prompts for it. I about cried when I saw her do the fish move.

Her is a video of her doing the nose and head.

Mom and Dad came down

February 14, 2004 by Amy

Mom and Dad came down yesterday and it was quite a flurry of activity. To the mall, Best Buy, the fabric store, the book store, out to eat, to another mall, to Old Navy. Yes, my parents LOVE to shop.

Today my sister is coming down. Scott is working until this evening, so it will be good to have some company. I think she wants to work on my mom’s web site tonight. I need to teach her what to do so I don’t have to mess with it. I love my work, but there’s something about helping my mom. I love her but she is so picky. Oh! I worked SO hard to get the house cleaned yesterday morning. I vacuumed two more times after I had done it the day before. I cleaned the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room. I even dusted. My mom walks in the door, sits on our leather couch, brushes off a few of Emma’s cracker crumbs and says, Man, it looks like you need to clean and buffer this or something.” AAHHH!! I about jumped out of my skin. She ALWAYS finds something to complain about.

Emma will be 15 months

February 14, 2004 by Amy

Emma will be 15 months next week. I haven’t posted too much about her recently. Let me think of things about her now.

She still likes warm milk.
She doesn’t take a bottle.
She still takes a pacifier.
She rubs the top of her head when she’s sleepy and especially if she has her paci in her mouth.
She loves her animal books.
She likes to “give her baby a bottle”.
She likes to move things from one place to another. For example, she really liked to move the Wood Glue at Target to the cabinet shelf.
She can make a sound like a car, sometimes a cat, lion or cow.
She loves the Wiggles.
She likes to dance and does so by swaying back and forth and clapping her hands as fast as she goes. Recently she has been holding one hand still and patting it with the other.
She knows where to go if I say, go get a bath, go eat, go get your diaper change, we need to take Mattie out and do you want to go.
She doesn’t like taking naps in her crib and usually lays on the couch or our bed.
Recently she has been going down at night wide awake alone in her crib. (Lovin’ that)
She has no favorite stuffed animal or blanket.
She loves to color–with a pen or pencil, but not really crayons.
She doesn’t like to sit in high chairs too much, usually at some point meal she tries to stand up. At restaurants we’ve pretty much given up and let her stand beside one of us in a booth.
She goes to bed around 8 and wakes up about 7:30 (5:30 yesterday–yuck! and 8:30 this morning–yay!)
She loves to hold clothes on a hanger and loves even more to actually hang it up.
She loves playing with my hair products and especially likes taking the caps off. I have restricted her from the ones she can fit in her mouth.
She hates her diaper changed.
She loves cheese, vegetables (I think the order is carrots, peas, green beans, corn) and fruit (espcially bananas).
She likes all kinds of meat, but seems partial to fish and chicken.
She doesn’t like shoes or socks on.
She really likes no clothes on.
She hates her hair washed in the bath.
She loves to play in Mattie’s water.
She likes to go down the steps. She REALLY likes escalators.
She doesn’t like it in a stroller shopping. In fact, I can’t remember the last time we used it, or even farther in memory is when she stayed in it during an entire shopping trip.
She likes getting the pages as they come out of the printer.
She likes all electronics.
She hates her hair being messed with if you’re actually trying to fix it.
She doesn’t mind wearing hats.
She is starting to understand most of what I say although sometimes she stares at me when I’m repeating things to her like I’m stupid. I’m still wondering if she really knows what I’m saying or not.
She “plays chase” with Mattie. In reality, Emma is running and thinks Mattie is chasing her when really is very slowly walking around hoping that Emma will drop some food.

Ok, is that like 100 things about Emma?? Here is a recent picture. You can’t see her straight on, but I love her bending down to find a book.

Work, work, work

February 12, 2004 by Amy

I’m a little worker bee today. Testing the hound out of my changes at work. Yeah me! I might actually make my hours for the week BEFORE Friday. Wow. Good cause Scott is working tomorrow and I need to clean up the house in the morning before they get here. The bathroom needs an overhaul. I did vacuum this morning and Scott has done a stellar job with the clothes these past two days.

I recently sent out an email to our mommies group that was sort of infomercial sounding, but boiled down to I would sell anything they wanted on ebay and give them back 70% of the profit. A little side business I was thinking of starting and the gentle push of my dad. I got a customer! She emailed me and said she had some really nice stuff packaged up to go to Goodwill and would rather make some money off of it. Yay! Now, she just needs to email me back and let me know where and when I can pick it up.
