Ok, did I call it

February 11, 2004 by Amy

Ok, did I call it or what? Ok, so so did 90% of the rest of America, but that’s not the point! Next week’s contestants didn’t look quite as good as this week’s but we’ll see.

Scott is working all weekend and Mom and Dad are coming to visit on Friday. My sister is coming Saturday afternoon and spending the night. Yeah! I get visitors all weekend! Scott and I really don’t have any plans since he is working. We might do something late Sat since we will have a built in babysitter!

I completely forgot to go help with AWANA at church tonight. Oops.

Scott had his big allergy appt today. He is allergic to almost everything he was tested for. Weeds, grasses, trees, dogs, cats, even cockroaches. We went and bought an air purifier, mattress and pillow covers. Mattie is restricted from the bedroom. I have to do the vaccumming and dusting that is “required” twice a week. Scott has to go get a cat scan Monday to see if he has a sinus infection since his polyps have not reduced as much as the dr. wanted. And, the kicker is he has to go on allergy shots for the next couple of years. Now this is the whole shabang. Scott obviously does not have to do any of this if he doesn’t want. I mean, the worse reaction he has is sneezing and a constant stuffy nose. But the way I look at it, a lot of these steps are just healthy for the rest of us and as far as the shots, there is a possibility he will reduce or eliminate his allergies completely if he does them then he does not have to worry about it at all and he will have a clear nose. This is all sort of old hat after living with my sister who has terrible allergies and has all kinds of effects from them. Growing up she could never have mushrooms, now her allergies have changed so that she is not allergic to mushrooms, but tomatoes, grapes, apples, wheat, corn, dust, trees, etc, etc. She is allergic to so much that she just has to deal with the consequences or she would not be able to live. And she does have bad reactions. She has a somewhat rare condition where if she is having an allergic reaction and scratches herself, she welts up and looks like someone has beat her. She also gets really bad “stomach” problems when she eats something she’s not supposed to. So, a stuffed up nosed to Scott seems minor.

I had a dream last

February 10, 2004 by Amy

I had a dream last night that I was going to marry my uncle. This is my dad’s sister’s husband who is much older than even her. They have a 16 year old daughter too. Scott and I were dating and for some reason everyone thought I needed a place to go to be taken care of. And my uncle for some reason had taken a liking to me, but for some reason, it wasn’t gross and he wanted to share his house which in the dream was really cool. The bottom of the house had been turned into a mini-theater and they had a pool. For some reason, that was really cool until I just typed that. I was debating whether I should marry him or not. I was talking it through with my family and we decided that it would be weird if I was my cousin’s step mom and that oh yeah, he’s already married and he can’t get married to me too unless we moved to Utah. There was some more “rationalizations” of why I couldn’t marry him and when I finally made my decision I calmly told my aunt why and she was proud of me for thinking it out so well. So I went into a Wal-Mart type store looking for Scott to tell him and he was in a rage, was wanting to fight with someone over something completely different and then for some reason, it was more like a mall and we got pulled into a jewelry store of someone he knew and they were trying to tell him his necklace he had on needed fixed. That’s really all I remember. Very different from any dream I’ve had in the past. Now what does that all mean??

Sleep talking

February 10, 2004 by Amy

Scott went to sleep about an hour before I did. I took a shower and right after getting into bed my conversation with Scott, who is famous for sleep talking went like this:
S: Why are you running?
A: I’m not. I’m getting into bed after getting a shower.
S: Why?
A: Why what?
S: Why are you trying to be sneaky?
A: I’m not
At this point, Scott rolls over and goes back to sleep.

Have you ever programmed something

February 9, 2004 by Amy

Have you ever programmed something without thinking too much about what you’re doing. You understand what it’s doing just enough to program it. Then you test it and it actually works. I love that.

What has happened to Emma??

February 9, 2004 by Amy

What has happened to Emma?? These past two nights all I have done is told her it was sleepy time and she needed to go night night, took her in her room WIDE AWAKE, put her in her crib and there has been absolutely no crying. Not sure how that happened, but it’s awfully nice.

Scott is going to look at a vehicle tomorrow. Just a 3K run around town Jeep. I have a good feeling about it. He found it online and it happened to be located in our city. It’s almost 20 years old and only has 101K miles on it. Pretty good if you ask me. The only bad news is the air conditioner is out, but even if we get it fixed, we’ll still be under budget for what we wanted to pay, we will see what offers we get from the split system service.

Has anyone tried these new Swoops candy things yet? They look like Pringles, but they’re chocolate. Yummy. Reese’s is of course my favorite.

I really should be working right now but I’m in one of those brain overload modes. I have a really big change to make and it just seems too daunting to accomplish at the moment. Ack! I have to do it!

Scott is working today so

February 9, 2004 by Amy

Scott is working today so that means lots less work getting done. I feel inspired to work, though, in our newly arranged living room (see extended entry for pics). I love that I can see all around the apartment from my little corner at the computer. And I like that Emma’s toys are right here by the computer now. I like that we have a kitchen table set up now. I like that you see the front of the couch when you come up the stairs. I really like it. Scott likes it too and he says we should have arranged it like this a long time ago.
