On the Humor

February 9, 2009 by Amy Leave a Comment

Emma actually got me the other day with some attempted humor.

Emma: Mommy, I don’t like you.

Me: Emma!

Emma: I don’t like you, I LOVE you! *fit of giggles*

She was quite pleased with herself for surprising me and Lexi thought it was HILARIOUS.  So now Lexi walks around attempting it all the time.

Lexi: Mommy, I don’t love you.  I DO!!

Uhhh….maybe we’ll do that one next year too.

Warm Weekend

February 8, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

We went to the park right after church today. Spent about 2 hours there. I forgot food so we went home and had our own picnic. Today was good.

Lexi and the Milkshake

February 6, 2009 by Amy 8 Comments

I got a replacement Flip video in the mail yesterday.  I thought it was ok after the incident but it actually plays back with very low sound.  Woot.com had it half off so I went for it.  I got it on the way out to go get Lexi for school.  I decided we’d film our ride home and I’d blog about it.  Show just how many questions I field and the sort.  But then I ended up filming Lexi in the act of something she confessed to but I was clueless until I watched the video back in order to edit my “ride home from school” video.  So it turned into a little bit different kid of video.  I kept in some of the regular drama too.  Anyway, hope it makes sense and enjoy.

Groundhog Day

February 2, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

Lexi was watching Franklin this morning and they appropriately showed their Groundhog Day episode.  In this episode, the groundhog  tries to hide in his house and doesn’t want to give a weather report.  He’s tired of disappointing one half of the town no matter what report he gives.  He’s old and grumpy and barely opens the door to speak to Franklin on more than one occasion.  During a pause in the “action” I decide to give a little lesson to Lexi.

Me: Lexi, did you know TODAY is Groundhog day?

Lexi, thoughtful: So….does that mean we’re angry today?

Maybe we’ll try next year.

Princess Party

January 31, 2009 by Amy 1 Comment

I took the kids to a birthday party this afternoon. And normally that wouldn’t be blogworthy. But this party was serious. They had a dress-code, red carpet, crafts, games, decorations, cookies, M&M’s in glass slippers, goodies, princess cake. And all hand-made. Well, everything I never do. But seriously, look at this wall decoration which makes it look like a princess ball room! It was so cute!

Build a Bear

January 24, 2009 by Amy 1 Comment

Emma and Lexi both have Build a Bears but they don’t remember doing it because they were so young.  Emma was super-duper insistent about going back to the mall after we were there last night with Heather.  I know she must have asked me 20 times…in 5 minutes.  She went to bed asking and it’s the first thing she asked me this morning.  I gave in when Scott didn’t put up a fight to go.

Emma went with the Hannah Montana white bear with matching Hannah Montana outfit and named her Hannah.  Lexi at first picked a brown and red High School Musical bear but when she saw the wedding dress outfit, she switched it up and went for the pink bear and named her Swan Lake.

DQ, Here We Come

January 13, 2009 by Amy 4 Comments

*warning – lots of potty training talk*

OK, I really thought we were over this.  Potty training has got to be a torture device in some country.  Last year Lexi was doing so well.  Somewhere in the past few months she regressed.  I don’t remember how or when it happened but suddenly she wasn’t going #2 in the potty anymore.  At the same time, while Emma WAS going in the potty, she was still having issues where it would get so big, it was scary.  All of this caused more stress than I care to admit.    I finally started regularly giving them Myralax again and while it helped Emma, it resulted in some HUGE messes here at home and out and about with Lexi.  I WILL spare you the details of that ( I DO have pictures..it’s that bad).

I had to figure out something to get Lexi to go in the potty.  I actually had forgotten about Chuck E Cheese that had worked last year and when Lexi told me randomly she wanted a “brown and white shandwish” (ice cream sandwich) from DQ, I told her if she went in the potty, she could go.  No dice.  In fact, after she had gone in her pants again, she said “Oh well, at least I have gum.”

Then Emma had done so well, I told Emma I was going to take her and Lexi could stay home.  Well, wouldn’t you know THAT was enough incentive and she went within the hour I think.

So last night Lexi got her brown and white shandwish and boy, did I feel like I deserved that cookie dough Blizzard.  Yum.  So TODAY Lexi says she wants a banana slit (banana split) and then asks what it looks like.  She just heard Emma say it yesterday.  But she’s gone twice today already.

And I’m fully prepared to buy stock in DQ…because you know she’s really twisting my arm to go to DQ every night until we’re in the clear.

And no, I’m not seriously prepared to go every night for any stretch of time.  Well.  Maybe.

Lexi-ism – Buy Me That

January 12, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

Scott and I started this horrible habit for the girls to tell us they want something in the stores for their birthday and/or Christmas.  It was born out of them asking for stuff in the store and I would say maybe for your birthday.  Well, birthdays and Christmas have passed and now they still go down the aisle and say “Buy this for my birthday”.

I took the girls to Wal-Mart to buy a birthday gift for a party Emma went to on Saturday and every other thing on the aisle was “Mommy, buy me this for my birthday.”

I finally said, “Stop saying ‘Mommy, buy this’.  Just tell me you like it.”

Emma dutifully says, “Mommy, I like this..and this…and this.”

Lexi points to something across the aisle and says, “Mommy, tell Daddy I want him to buy me this for my birthday.”

Argh!
