Emma reached a new milestone today. She was able to get on the swing, start swinging by herself and then get THIS HIGH with no help at all.

On the road again…

April 27, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

and really wanting to be OFF IT.  We’re currently about 2 hours from home and this trip is not nearly as fun as the ride up.  The kids are in a whiny mood I think from lack of sleep the past few days and also being confined in the car.  They don’t seem as interested in watching movies.  Emma seems to be coming down with some sort of cold.  Scott and I have had a rough few days as well.  I think I may have PMS and it’s not helping anything.  But not to depress anyone, a few funny things heard on the way home.

Scott was giving us his usual smack talk and was trying to say  he was going to Turkey to share the “Good news of Jesus” and said “Good Juice of Jesus”.  Could that mean he’s going to hand out some sort of water or wine?

Emma was trying to say we were going to eat at Cracker Barrel and called it Cracker Bella. Some so rt of nickname for Belle from Beauty and the Beast?

Lexi was trying to say Amsterdam (where Scott is making a stop on the way to Turkey next month) and she said Easter man. What do you say to that?

Scott was going through the animal sounds with the girls.  He asked what Mommy says and one of them said “Be quiet!”  He then asked what Daddy says and Emma says, “No sugar!”  Sounds about right.

Emma and the attitude

April 18, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

So I posted the other day on Emma’s little attitude and it’s happened a few times since then.  Even that night she said something and Heather was there and she was like, “Oh, Emma, you’re in trouble!”  Tonight it happened again when we were at Wal-Mart.  I agreed to buy them dresses since it is getting warmer and they need some summer clothes.  Emma fought with me about getting a Hannah Montana outfit, buying a belt and not buying a dress.  Lexi had already picked out a dress and jammies and I found some H.M. pajamas for Emma but then she would not pick out a dress.  Between all the attitude and nasty looks, I finally said enough was enough and said she wasn’t getting a dress and stuck with it and left without buying her a dress.  She continued with the bad look on her face and had her arms crossed and head down pouting in the buggy while we checked out and then was not happy when I wouldn’t stop at Walgreens for chewing gum like I told her we might.  She didn’t cry which she normally would if I had upset her.  I think she was just mad but she knew I was serious about the attitude so she was silent the whole way home.  Her face finally relaxed a bit as I watched in the rearview mirror.  I planned to actually take her to Walgreens if she perked up and let go of the attitude but she actually fell asleep on the way and has been asleep since we got home at 7:30.  That is REALLY not like her so I know she was tired so that could have compounded the problem tonight but I can also tell that in general she’s going through “a thing”.  Not sure why or where she’s getting it from but I know I don’t like it.

It’s starting…

April 15, 2008 by Amy 2 Comments

I heard Emma say to S “Mommy’s being mean” after I stopped her from jumping off the playroom table.  Bad mommy, I know.

Then, I had to correct her after she pitched a fit because I wouldn’t let her eat a bowl of peanut butter in her room and I was trying to pick her up to hug her and she stared me down and said, “Leave. me. alone!”

Needless to say, we had a chat in my room  and she was back to smiling and playing (and giving out hugs) afterwards but wow.  I guess I don’t get a gold star today.

Who’s the mommy again?

April 14, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Lexi: Turn that a little bit off.

Me: Turn my music down?? Why?

Lexi: It’s too loud. It hurts my ears.

Just for the record, it was SO NOT loud.

Lexi

April 13, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Lexi loves animals.  Especially dogs.  At the party on Saturday night they had four daschunds and Lexi was loving all the little dogs running around.  They especially paid attention to her at dinner time.  Lexi is known to feed our dog Mattie (chocolate lab) during dinner.  In fact, I’ve had to stop her from feeding Mattie off of her own spoon.  Anyway, Lexi decided she was done with her food and we were going to let her feed the dogs after the owner ok’d it.  So we told Lexi to call for the dogs and she bent down and said, “Herrree little fella.”  Never heard her say that and we certainly never use that phrase.  Not sure where she got it from but thought it was cute.
