Mastering #2

December 28, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Warning: if you didn’t get it from the title, talk of poop is in this post.

Awhile back I wrote that Emma had mastered #2.  Not so.  About a month into it, she reverted to going in her pants.  So much so she was constipated and all kinds of other nasty things that requires her now to be on a laxative every other day.  Supposedly she says it hurts her to go in the potty.  Which if you’ve seen what she does, I can’t blame her.  So hopefully this medicine will help get her back on track and I will not have to wipe up any more #2 which I about scream every time I have to.

We’re back

December 20, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, sorry for the lack of posts.  As I said, work was entirely crazy up until the minute we left last week.  Then we left for Maryland on Thursday afternoon, right after my work Christmas party.  We just got back last evening.

The visit was good, kinda boring, but good to get away.  We basically shopped and slept the whole weekend when we weren’t with family.  Saturday night we had dinner with Dad’s family.  Sunday afternoon dinner was with my mom’s family and then Sunday evening we went to my grandfather’s house.  The kids were GREAT in the car.  I really don’t know what we would do without the DVD player.  It was one movie after another.  But whatever, we had 8 hours of almost complete silence on the way home and what else could you ask for?

Lexi did something really cute yesterday at the gas station on the way home.  She picked out a sucker (which she loves them) for herself and she went to get another one and I thought she was getting two for herself and she took the other one to Emma and said here Emma!  It was so sweet to see her think of her big sister.

This morning the girls had their Christmas program at school.  This little boy played with Lexi’s hair for several minutes and we could NOT believe it.  She HATES when people mess with her hair.  But she didn’t even flinch until his little fingers got caught in it and you could see her mouth OUCH and she swatted him away.  But then he started right back up and she didn’t stop him.  It was the funniest thing ever and I got it on film.  I couldn’t believe how still Lexi was for the thing.  She stood and sat when told to, didn’t cry and was just great.  Emma on the other hand did not sing and ended up crying at the end.  She said she was upset because she didn’t know the song but we only missed one day of school for the practice.  I don’t know, I feel bad because she was so looking forward to their singing.

So it took all weekend to download the latest Office episode that I’m on–The Merger.  But today I’m watching The Convict and will then be able to get to the Christmas one for this year.  Yay!  Well, technically, I never got Season 2 Disc 2 so I still have a little catching up to do.  I so do not like Jim dating this girl.  It’s such a bummer.  And she’s so gorgeous.  Blah.

girls birthday party

November 20, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

We had the girls birthday party Saturday night.  Just family and D&D brought their girls.  It ended up being Strawberry Shortcake themed.  Mom took Emma cake shopping at Harris Teeter Friday and she fell in love with their new 3 story Strawberry Shortcake cake (which Emma thinks is REALLY funny –cake cake–that’s a joke, mommy!).  It turned out really cute with the kids table all decorated and red, pink and green balloons.  And the 3 older girls had a blast opening presents.  It was like Christmas for all of them.  Lexi dug into the cake.  I had serve everyone else’s cake from the opposite side.  Which we had PLENTY of cake.  And poor Lexi would NOT take a nap Saturday so she was about in a daze by the time we got to the end of her presents and she fell asleep after everything was done.  They all had a good time though.  The double party worked out good.  Not sure if we’ll do it next year since Emma will be 5 but it was great this year.

Lexi-dr results

November 1, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So apparently the dr said somehow Lexi’s little muscle that holds in her food has gotten weakened somehow and is causing her to throw up especially when laying down.  So he’s given her medicine to take before bed for 2 weeks to strengthen the muscle and keep the food down.  And thank goodness, we weren’t washing blankets and giving baths at 2am last night.

Lexi sick

October 31, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So Lexi threw up Saturday night randomly and then yesterday afternoon and then again at like midnight last night.  This is also not counting Monday night before last night and Saturday before last.  They all seem so unrelated and she has no fever.  So I made her a dr’s appt for late this afternoon.  I really don’t want to go just for them to tell me to give her a BRAT diet but I really don’t want anything else to be wrong and miss it.  So we’re going.

Weekend

October 30, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Lexi ended up staying with Emma at MILs on Friday night.  Scott and I went out to Target late but it was really nasty outside so it wasn’t all that great.  And then we woke up early on Saturday.  He went off with a friend and I went to the gym.  Boy, you can tell I haven’t been very often lately.  I had to leave within 30 minutes.  But of course I never have much energy in the morning when I go. I don’t know how those people go at 5:30 in the morning.

So I had a meeting at church around lunchtime and I got the girls from MIL then.  We then cleaned out my closet and I wouldn’t even mention except to say I am donating 2 garbage bags full of clothes and I took out my summer clothes.  I don’t think my closet has EVER been so cleaned out.  It was quite a job.  That evening was the Fall Festival at church.  Both the girls looked cute and had a really good time.  Lexi cracked me up with getting suckers out of everyone’s basket and wanting to open each one as she got it.

Sunday was the usual church, eat (ate at C&D’s house), nap, church.  Emma and I did make homemade cupcakes for Lexi’s class today because Friday is her birthday.  I tasted one last night and it was REALLY good.  Emma and I had a good time.  Me and her with leftover icing and cake batter was dangerous but it was fun.  She’s such a good helper these days.

Tonight is our last bible study.  I created this layout thing to teach the lesson from and I was pretty happy with it.  Hopefully they will like it too.  I’m not sad about not having to prepare two lessons each one (one for BS and another for SS) but I am sad about losing that connection with the girls each week.  Maybe we will plan on a monthly outing just to keep us in touch.  I know we see each other at youth but it’s not the same.

Party Day

October 27, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Last night I was supposed to go to a Pampered Chef party and Emma was going to go with me.  Scott had to go visit someone so I was going to have Heather watch Lexi at the house for about an hour.  Well, Mom calls an hour before I needed to leave and said she and Heather were coming to pick up Lexi.  So of course Emma cried when she realized Lexi was going off without her and Mom ended up taking both of them.  I went to the party at S’s house and then met Mom at her house with the girls.  Apparently she took them up to Clt to shop and didn’t get back to her house until after 9.  So the girls didn’t get to bed until after 10 last night.  And they slept in until 9 this morning.  I’m supposed to go in the office at lunch today.  Mom was supposed to get the girls but it looks like she has errands to run so Scott will have them himself this afternoon.  Which I think is ok.  He’s been doing pretty good as long as he keeps his sling on.  But it is a very rainy day today and I’m thinking I’d rather not go in.  But I don’t want to attempt the meeting I have on a conference call.

Yesterday we took the girls to their Fall Festival at their school.  They both loved their costume.  Lexi even wore her big fluffy Snow White costume onthe way there and the whole time she was there.  She looked so cute.  And Emma even wore her wig the whole time.  Unbelievable.  Lexi was into the games and candy.  I was surprised.

I talked to their teachers and apparently Emma is the “idea maker” in the class.  She tells everyone what they’re going to play and everyone goes along with it.  There is another Emma that is in the class that is her best friend.  Lexi’s teachers thought she was very smart and really has “matured” the past couple of weeks. Which I have seen that too.  They said she is now handing over her paci and blankie when she walks in the door and never asks for it. They believe she is talking more because she doesn’t have that in her mouth.  We really need to get rid of it.  Maybe after we get back from Maryland next week and Scott is still out of work we can attack that.  Ugh, I’m cringing just saying that.

Lexi’s words, etc.

October 19, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Lexi has really opened up with her words lately.  In the past few weeks, we have all caught her saying or trying to say new words.  She is now saying PawPaw very clearly.  Daddy is Dah-he.  She says Sissy and maw for Grandma.  She says “mine”.  “Where’s [fill in the blank with my baby, my socks, my shoes]”  Everything starts with “my”.  When we are in a store and I’m pointing to things and tell her the word, she tries to imitate me.  And although her words are still not spoken correctly, she is saying more of them and even in little sentences.  I think one day in the van she said, “Emma, look, there’s Belle.”  She knows Belle, Cinderella, Arial and all of the Dora characters (hmm, wonder why).  When she wants to leave, she says “keys” which she says pretty clearly actually.  She waves and blows kisses and says bye.  MawMaw is teaching her to say I love you by pointing to her eye, crossing her arms and throwing out her arms for you.  It’s really cute.  She loves dancing and gets excited when she sees people dancing on Dancing with the Stars.  She laughs at a commercial that has lots of puppies in it.  She still sleeps (usually 8:30/9pm-7:30/8am) and eats well.  Normally takes a nap from 1-4 or 2-4:30, something like that.  I can’t believe she’ll be 2 in just a couple weeks. I think she is bigger than Emma was at this age.  Some of Emma’s clothes from two years ago are already fitting or getting too small.  Last night was so cute.  Lexi usually goes to sleep before Emma but Emma was really tired last night and Lexi was not.  So I took Emma back to her room and Lexi was peeking in the room.  I told Lexi to come in and tell Emma good night.  So she came in laid on Emma and patted her to try to give her a hug.  Then she waved bye to her.  I told her to go back in the living room with Daddy and she trotted right out.  It was so cute.  The girls are really good together.  Emma hugs Lexi any time she cries and if Emma cries, Lexi always wants to pat her on the back.  Lexi yells at Mattie, go! go! if she gets to close to her food.  I don’t know why I’m thinking of all this random stuff. Sometimes it seems I will forget all the little things.
