My grandmother did not get a good report from her tests. Even though it wasn’t spelled out in the email I suppose that means my grandmother is added to the list of breast cancer fighters. She meets with a surgeon on Monday. Please pray for her and my family. We just lost my grandfather to cancer a few years ago. My aunt seems to think my grandmother may not accept help from the doctors.

Good new/bad news day
First some good news:
- Scott’s appointment today went really well. He said it is healing great and will be on the road probably in 2 weeks instead of 3.
Unfortunately the rest of the news I have for today is bad. Some very serious:
- Scott has been put on light duty for 2 weeks so he’ll have to sit in the office at work M-F for that amount of time. He’s not real happy about that.
- Scott moved my desk to the playroom and I have no Internet on my main computer because the cable company hasn’t come to move my wire yet and I can’t get a USB wireless adapter I have to work on my computer. To check my email/reader, I have to use Scott’s laptop. Oh the pain of it all.
- And finally, in the worst news of all and on a serious note, my grandmother may have breast cancer. We’ll know something by Monday but so far the doctors don’t sound hopeful.
Scott’s shoulder
OK, here are the pictures. Be forewarned, it’s a little gross. And if you ask me, it looks like Scott is growing a pair of lips out of his shoulder. Lexi saw it for the first time today and said “Ew yuck, that’s crazy.”
Scott’s reorg
As mentioned earlier, Scott got bored and when Scott gets bored, he organizes things. Yes, some of you are jealous. But believe me, sometimes it’s annoying. Today, not so much. Lexi has continued to sleep in Lexi’s room for about the last month. Lexi’s room is now the main play room and the sun room is, well, I don’t know yet. I have no furniture to put in there.

You can tell Scott has been home…things are getting re-arranged as we speak. Lexi’s toddler bed just got taken out of her room and toys are being rearranged. Look out, Mr. OCD is on the loose.
The rest of the weekend…
So the pageant seemed to dominate the weekend. I didn’t get my house cleaned which is what I spent the afternoon after church doing today. Just trying to make it seem normal around here again. With the beach last weekend and the surgery and pageant this past week, the house was a mess and nothing seemed “on schedule”. It does feel like it’s getting back to a normal Sunday night. I came back after choir this evening and Scott went to do bible study with the youth. He should be getting home any time now.
You wonder how he got sent out to teach after he JUST had surgery? Well, you might guess right that he is doing quite well. Friday he decreased his medicine to one pill at a time and then hasn’t had one since Friday evening. This morning he gave up the sling and hasn’t worn it all day. Then this afternoon I took the big bandage off to reveal quite a yucky site of the surgery. I put back on a bandage which is much smaller. Scott seems to think he’ll be back to work in sooner than 4 weeks but I’m guessing he’ll need that much time for the incision to really heal, not really for the pain to go away.
So we’re plugging along here. Mom’s birthday is tomorrow and I’ll guess we’ll do something for dinner together. Band practice will be on Tuesday, youth on Wednesday, I have to work late on Thursday and then the weekend seems free for now.
Post Surgery update
Scott’s doing really, really well. He was up through most of yesterday and today. He can even move his arm and use it while still in the sling. He says the pain is not near as bad as when he broke it. The medicine still makes him whoozy when he hasn’t had something to eat. He seems to think he’ll be back to work pretty quickly.
Post Surgery Day
Scott ended up sleeping through the afternoon after my last post. His mom dropped by to pick up the girls so I woke him to see his mom. Apparently she was pretty upset (read sad, not mad) that she wasn’t at the surgery yesterday morning so I thought it best she see him. After she left, we both crawled into bed and took a 2 hour nap. That was wonderful.
I ordered pizza and we watched Tombstone in bed. It was sort of like a mini vacation actually. Scott’s pills had finally kicked in and we just relaxed.
The bad part is he continued to be nauseous through the evening, not able to keep down the pizza or some soup we tried. Everyone insists it’s the anesthesia so hopefully today will be better.
He slept well through the night except got up to take pills and was up with me this morning and even helped get Emma dress since I got a work call first thing.
He’s back in bed this morning, still feeling dizzy/nauseous when he walks around too much.
Overall, this has gone WAY better than I had thought. I told Scott last night I could tell people had prayed hard for us. Our patience and overall “niceness” factor with each other was almost outstanding. His pain was at a minimum from what I could tell and it just has been very calm and pleasant around here. So mark this as an answer to prayer.
