Honestly Top 3 was not as good as I imagined it might be.  Definitely some good moments but I don’t know.

Danny “Dream Little Sister” – Here’s the thing.  Danny didn’t know that song.  I didn’t know that song.  I bet most of America didn’t know that song.  So while Danny sang it fine no one could relate.  I think Paula REALLY hurt Danny’s chances for the finale.  If he doesn’t make it, I’m blaming her.

Kris “Apologize” – I love this song.  Like really love this song.  Kris wasn’t perfect but I think it fit his vocals.  Overall just ok for me.

Adam “One” – It’s no surprise by now I’m not a fan of Adam but usually I can admit when he’s good even if I didn’t like the performance.  Well, I think this time I was ok with the performance but I didn’t think he did well vocally.  Close your eyes and listen to that and it’s not a winner.

Danny “You Are So Beautiful” – This for me was hands down my favorite from Danny this season.  Strong in the right parts. Beautiful falsetto. So heartfelt.  Simon had it right with masterclass.  I just don’t even know how you can compare ANY of the vocals tonight to that.

Kris “Heartless” – I am familiar (and like) this song by Kanye West so I was very confused as to how he would pull this off.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I think he did a great job.  At times though I felt he was really straining vocally to stay on top of it.  He gets major points for originality though.  Wow.

Adam “Cryin'” – I didn’t enjoy ANY of this vocal or performance.  I think he ruined the song and once again gave me the heebie jeebies.

That first Danny song could easily go at the bottom BUT I’m leaving at 4 because I didn’t see anything wrong with it vocally where I had issues with Adam vocally.

I think this race is tough to call.   Right now I think I’m going to have to call Kris going home though.  Even if he stays I don’t think Kris can win.  Against Danny or Adam, I don’t think he vocally can stand up next to them.

I have to say overall tonight was an amazing show.  I really feel like the right 5 are there and they are all amazing.  There really are no losers at this point and they’ll have to really drop the ball not to get a recording contract.  But as for tonight..

Kris – When Kris does make his record (and apparently with Jamie Foxx) I know I’m going to love it.  Because almost every single week he picks songs that are already favorites of mine. The Way You Look Tonight was fantastic.  I loved that he still gave it his Kris-vibe (and I love that there is a Kris vibe now).  That last note he sang was out of this world.

Allison – To quote Jim from The Office I think Allison did “as well as you might expect someone like him to perform in a position like that.”  Basically, the Rat Pack isn’t Allison’s thing but she did well.  I just felt her voice was a little too edgy/raspy for the song.

Matt – Overall I feel like Matt did well but I really expected more from him tonight.  I just wasn’t feeling it.  I really think Matt has lost a lot of confidence in his performances.

Danny – The Hero-esque Danny was back tonight.  He held up well in the low, slow notes and then busted out in the end with something unique but not too screamy.  He was just. right. tonight.

Adam – My insides do this yucky thing inside when I think about Adam tonight.  I really imagined him having a dress on with a slit up the side walking down those stairs.  The guy can sing, yes, but I just got that ugh feeling from him again tonight.  And that last note?  I know I’m not a music professional but was it off or what?  Maybe he was on it just right and I just didn’t like how he did the end.

Lil – First off, Lil pulled off that little black number she was wearing.  She’s proportioned just right for that and wow.  As for the song, I finally felt like she wasn’t trying to be someone else and she didn’t date herself 15 years.  Still no “moment” from her but much better than previous weeks.

Kris – I love Kris.  He continually does well and really makes a song unique and always, “downloadable”.  I’m going to sound like Paula but he has such a nice tone to his voice that you could push play on his songs and listen all day.  And he’s such a cutie.

Allison – Allison can SANG.  There is no doubt about that.  I love that Pink-ish vibe she has and she sounded fine.  But was this a song I’m going to do download?  Nope.

Danny – Danny really scared me with that screaming at the beginning.  But after that, Danny did what he does best…puts some soul into a song.  Do I see myself downloading this one?  Probably not but the guy can sing.  No doubt.

Adam – I literally was stomping my feet.  I do not want to like Adam.  But here he was toning  it down again and he’s absolutely amazing.  He has an excellent voice and when he sings a ballad, you get his emotion too and I just loved it.

Matt – Matt came back with a vengeance tonight.  I’m not a fan of that song but I think he did really well with it and I’ll be sad to see if he goes after his near-elimination last week.

Anoop – From the first few notes it was just bad.

I usually don’t blog about the American Idol results but wow!  I don’t know about you, but tonight was one of the best American Idol moments EVAH!  Here’s the thing.  Simon is right.  Matt can’t win.  I “hands down” put him in the bottom two last night.  But watching American Idol tonight, I was literally chanting and clapping SAVE MATT!  I have a few reasons why.  Lil deserved to go home after last night.  Lil has YET to deliver a stunning performance and Matt has at least done that.  There were only two weeks left to use the save and it would have been a big bummer had it not been used.  And dude, it was just good TV.  I have never, ever, ever seen the crowd as hyped as it was during a results show save the finale.  The other contestants were out of their seats chanting, the judges were out of their seats.  *I* was out of my seat.  What’s even better is next week we get to see the drama unfold of TWO contestants leaving the show.  Whoo Hoo!

I know the judges were happy about it.

And look, even Simon was happy with himself after it was done.

I was overall disappointed with this week.  The show was rushed and you could hardly tell it was even Cinema week.

Allison – I don’t think Allison did enough with this song.  I’m no music expert but it sounded too breathy, not enough umph and grit to it.  Or something.  Maybe holding back.  It wasn’t BAD just not great.

Anoop – I LOVE Everything I Do.  Love. it.  One of my all time favorite love songs.  I think this is just one of those songs that you can’t touch to me.  Again, I don’t know if it was BAD, just didn’t blow me away.

Adam – Oh man, the manic Adam was back and I just do not care for that Adam.

Matt – This Bryan Adams song might be my OTHER all time favorite love songs.  I remember having it on cassette tape and playing it over and over.  Man, I love that song.  But poor Matt.  I think he had the right idea but he just didn’t deliver.  Vocals were a mess.

Danny – Loved this.  He did falter ona  few notes at the beginning but about halfway through to the end, I loved it.  Loved the falsetto notes.  He had big notes but didn’t growl too much.  And you just can’t top how he connects to a song.

Kris – Loved, loved, loved this.  It wasn’t a perfect vocal but I LOVE that song and I think it was a perfect fit for Kris.  Definitely back into the game.

Lil – No, no, no. I did not like what she did with that song.

Bottom two tonight were Lil and Matt hands down.

Kris and Danny were my favorites.

I love when my posts get shorter each week with one less contestant. My brain can keep up with all the contestants better.  And I don’t have to type so much.

Danny -When he started out at the mic stand and it was a slow song, I got a little nervous. Sometimes he falls off notes when he’s singing slow and low.  But he did well with it. I loved that he got out from behind the mic and gave it some soul during the chorus.  And the ending was great.  I think the mix of ballad and up tempo song worked for him.  Definitely one of my favorites vocally in recent weeks.

Scott – I did not enjoy this.  He was off in several parts and once again found myself bored.

Lil – Lil can sing, I’ll give her that.  But so can most of the other contestants.  Lil is really hurting right now by not showing she can make a song unique.

Kris – I was really starting to like Kris and think that he could potentially win or be Top 3 but another performance like that and he’ll be out sooner than Top 3.  The song was weird and his vocals were not that great.  I think he needs to stick to ballads.

Anoop – Anoop sang well but I felt like the song was a little too safe.  Nothing American Idol-ish about that.

Matt – Loved tonight’s performance.  I was nervous when they announced his song but I think all his runs and his soul vibe fit right in.

Allison – I absolutely love that Bonnie Raitt song so it would be hard for her to make me hate it but I thought she did a fantastic job.

Adam – I had to watch Adam sing twice but I have to say, that was awesome.  Love that he had very little makeup on and he sat in a chair.  When Adam tones himself down and actually shows us his voice instead of all that other weird stuff about him, he does great.

Those in trouble: Scott, Anoop, Lil

Who should go: Scott

I know there are at least a few people who look for my review.  But I am hitting a major wall tonight with all that is left to do before we leave.  Plus, I came home 20 minutes after 8 and not one of the 3 devices able to record the show had done so.  I was not a happy camper.

From what I heard, I think Matt did really well but I think Adam stole the show tonight.  And you have no idea how much I want to take those words back.  But I’ve admitted before I think he has a voice and with everything toned down and giving us an Elvis look with the understated performance, I think he officially had “his moment”.

I think Michael and Scott (saying those names together always reminds me of Michael Scott from The Office) are once again in trouble and maybe Megan.  As for my favorite Danny, he did well enough to stay but definitely not his best.

I think the few I didn’t mention were just in the “eh” category for me.
