Let me start off by saying besides her low-cut and see-through shirt and tight pants, I was really impressed with Mariah. She had really good advice for the contestants, articulated her thoughts well and seemed genuinely happy to work with them.
David Archuleta – He was ok. I think the last 15 seconds or so saved him and they were really good.
Carly Smithson – She was pretty good the first time through but we went back and listened again and it wasn’t that great. She looked great though.
Kristi Lee Cook – Her hair was gorgeous this week. Good job, hair department. I enjoyed her song. Nothing amazing but it was good.
Syesha – Her performance was solid but as I was trying to explain to Heather, she’s almost too good..like perfectly…boring. There’s just nothing unique about her.
David Cook – Wow. I was so scared all day about that song. I was like why in the world would he sing the girliest song that she has. But wow, he really, really made it his own and it wasn’t ripped off by some band either. Hopefully his tears weren’t forced since everyone has been saying how confident he’s been but it seemed genuine and really it was warranted. That was a huge risk he took and he pulled it off. Heather pointed out the whole sick brother in attendance last night. Now I feel stupid. I even remember seeing the guy in the audience and thinking I wonder what’s wrong with him? Geez, *hanging head*.
Brooke White – This was one of my least favorite performance of the night and of hers altogether.
Jason Castro – I completely agree with Paula..I’d stay at the luau and listen all night. No, it may have not been the strongest vocal of the night but that would be a great song to get recorded and listen to over and over…
Favorites: David and Jason
In trouble: Brooke and Syesha
The Hills April 14, 2008
OK, I normally loathe Spencer but I was dying laughing at him last night with his statement something like “What is a relationship vacation? The rest of the world calls that breaking up.” That doesn’t sound so funny here but it was funny last night. Other comments about last night’s episode…
I like Lauren and Whitney working together. It just works.
Heidi got a little too upset about Spencer. For once I’m on his side.
Lauren got a little random about Audrina being friends with Heidi and Spencer’s sister. Audrina was talking about Spencer and Heidi and Lauren randomly makes the conversation about her.
IGB – my opinion
I’ve been chewing on the whole IGB Shout to the Lord thing throughout the day. I don’t know why it matters so much but I’ve felt a need to have an opinion on the whole thing for some reason. And I think Travis Cottrell (worship leader for Beth Moore’s Living Proof Ministries) said what I’ve been thinking…
Anyway, I am not a theologian. And I certainly want to respect everyone’s opinions and feelings. But personally I was so glad and excited to see the name of the Lord spoken and revered on that show. I mean, really. Why in the world would they choose that song, unless the Holy Spirit was doing a work? Of all the inspirational songs in the world…they choose “Shout to the Lord.” Wow. And – yes – they left out the word ‘Jesus.’ I was bummed about that. But these people are LOST. They are lost. They are not found. They don’t get it. I am not going to hold them responsible for knowing what to do with a moment like that.
It’s an observation I’ve made with us as the body of Christ: we tend to want to expect lost people to know how to act saved. It’s sort of like being mad at a blind person for running into a chair in a room when he is all by himself.
Do I wish they would have said ‘Jesus?’ Yes. Am I glad that by the providential hand of the Lord they sang “Shout to the Lord?” Heck yes!
And I pray in Jesus’ name that the Holy Spirit will do a mighty work in our nation…that those words that were sung – “Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name! I sing for joy at the work of Your hands! Forever I’ll love You! Forever I’ll stand! Nothing compares to the promise I have in You!” – will permeate every heart that’s longing for something more in this life…aching for a love that will not let them go. Do a mighty work, MIGHTY LORD.
Our lesson at youth group last night was about expectations and disappointments and he pointed out the same thing..why do we expect people that are lost act like they’re saved? I believe I’ll count it as a miracle that they sang the song at all. And if you ask me, when you watch the video, I believe many of the contestants ARE Christians and were singing it as a praise song as it was meant to be.
Idol Gives Back
I felt like AI IGB was really good. I loved how the contestants were all on stage talking to people live. The performances were great. I was late watching last night and didn’t watch the opening until this morning. I love, love, loved Jason’s part in the opening group number, even if it was just a few seconds. I also thought Syesha did quite well with that little number. She finally seemed as Simon would say, relevant.
I particularly liked Annie Lenox’s piece. I think that’s the one that truly inspired me to help.
On a truly superficial note can I say I couldn’t help but love Brad Pitt and Chris Daughtry on screen together within 30 seconds of each other. Wow, that was some good tv.
But what seems to have everyone chatting this morning is this finale. Yes, Shout to the Lord is an obviously Christian and truly inspiring song but they changed Jesus to shepherd. What do we think of this?

I thought tonight was decent. Not quite “inspiring”, but better than other weeks have been.
Michael Johns – I thought he sounded great and disagreed with Randy about him impersonating a rocker. It was confident, strong performance.
Kristy – It was a great performance. Probably one of her best. But for me, she doesn’t seem like the winner. Does anyone else agree they should do something different to her hair? It looks dated and not “done” enough. I know, nothing to do with her singing, but just a side note.
Jason – I love this song. Of course, I think it is from the ending of one of my all-time favorite movies, You’ve Got Mail so he couldn’t really go wrong.
Syesha – I just couldn’t get over the Fantasia factor although if I had heard Syesha sing it first, I would have thought it was great.
Carly – Not happy at all with that. Completely agree with Simon it came off angry.
David C. – Worst performance yet. He was too cocky and just sounded bad.
David A. – Great song, great sound, A+. That said, I don’t know if I’d actually buy an album of his. Sort of like Clay Aiken for me. I thought he sounded great, but I’m just not into his music.
Brooke -It was nice. She needs to get over the nervous thing though. She appears to be less professional and I think that hurts her at this point.
Who will go? I think Carly is in trouble.
Favorites? Michael Johns and Jason Castro followed by David A.

I really like Dolly Parton. And I think her songs went over well. In fact, I think this has been my favorite week. Maybe because we’re down to some real talent, who knows. Nah, the second Beatles week was torture, I don’t care who sang it.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
Brooke – I love her voice and think she is just so genuine and cute. To me, she’s like a mini Faith Hill. I liked her song although it wasn’t my favorite from her, she did well.
Ramiele- Her heart just doesn’t seem into it anymore or something. I didn’t see that powerhouse of a singer I know she is. I really think she just needs to go home 🙁
Jason – I thought the song was great although he seemed to be barely singing at parts of the song.
David C – He’s growing on me but I just can’t get over the Chris Daughtry-ness of him. He was good tonight and I liked his song.
David A – The old David is back and I was wowed when he almost had Dolly in tears in rehearsal.
Syesha – That was nice but it’s I Will Always Love You. Come on, it’s just an AI don’t.
Kristy – Seemed in her element. Don’t want her to go quite yet. She seems to be gaining confidence and sounding better.
Michael Johns – another strong week for him. I liked it.
Carly – I absolutely loved her performance tonight and I think she’s my favorite in fact.
I think Ramiele should go but seeing she wasn’t even in bottom 3 last week has me worried she won’t go. Maybe Syesha going? Maybe Kristy?
The Bachelor March 24, 2008
OK, I wasn’t really going to post on this week’s but what is with all the singing and weird freak show stuff? Did they go to all the local talent and freak shows to find these girls? They are mighty pretty but did you notice the singing girls didn’t get a rose tonight?
And on top of that, what was with the cat thing? I can’t wait to have him purr and sit on my lap again because he’s the love of my life right now? What??
One other note..I believe this is the first Bachelor I have felt was 100% ok with an interracial relationship and didn’t feel like a person of color was put on there just for a checkmark somewhere. So, way to go.
I have yet to figure out frontrunners yet. He seems smitten with quite a few of them.
