AI Top 11

March 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So all the performances were decent.  I actually thought Sanjaya had improved.  Not as impressed with Lakisha this week.  Blake was my favorite.

As for the vote-off, surprised that Stephanie got voted off.  But I think Simon has it right that it’s better to be bad than forgettable.  Really surprised Chris R was in the bottom 2 though and not Phil, I thought for sure he’d be in the bottom or gone.

AI – Top 12

March 14, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Ya’ll.  Come on, when is this season going to get better?  I was very excited to be on the big stage last night for the Top 12.  Finally felt like AI again.  Those weeks from 24-12 were brutal.  So here’s what I think of those that I can remember:

Brandon: please go home.  you sing well, but not THAT well. you were unoriginal and you forgot your words, dude.

Melinda: you melted my heart, brought tears to my eyes.  YOU. ARE. AWESOME.

Blake: yikes.  kind of cool arrangement.  props for doing something original but the voice wasn’t good this time around.  too much emphasis on the music instead of the voice.

Chris S: not. good.  his voice was great, but he butchered that song.  i could barely tell what it was

Phil Stacey: decent.  middle of the pack though, nothing inspiring.

Chris Richardson: simon was right, horrendous voice tonight.  heather and i keep saying he sounded like a bad justin impersonator.

Lakisha: fantastic. what else can you say about her. she’s such a pro.

Gina: i really liked her.  good voice, good performance but she’s forgettable for some reason.

Stephanie: she did really well but i kept waiting for the tease to be over and the good part.  but it never came.  so a little let down although her voice and performance was actually good.

Jordin: wow. i’m impressed.  i literally rolled my eyes when she was sitting on stage hoping she wasn’t trying to do a fantasia thing. but it was really great.  not sure if i agree she’s on melinda’s level though.

Is that it?  I’m forgetting 2 people.

OH!  Sanjaya.  Ya’ll, what is up with him?  He sounded HORRIBLE.  My theory on him is that all the little girls like him..you know why?  Because of High School Musical.  He looks like one of those guys.  And you know how much 13 and 14 year olds LOVE that movie?  You know how much TIME 13 and 14 year olds have to do nothing but vote for 2 hours?  So, yeah, I don’t think he’s going anywhere, but please let’s hope he does.

And who else….

Oh!  Haley.  Yeah, so I really liked Haley last night.  You know, she was off pitch A LOT and she forgot words.  But you know, she finally sounded like she wasn’t on broadway and like she actually belonged in 2007.  So, you know, good for her.  She reminded me a good bit of Katharine McPhee last night in her look.

AI update

March 12, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m still keeping up with AI although it is not nearly as good as last year.  Not that there singers that aren’t as good, but the competition is just not as good.  Melinda and Lakisha are clear front runners along with Blake and for some awful reason Sanjaya is getting a lot of votes and I think that everyone is just getting mad at that.  I am hoping that Blake wins myself.  Melinda will do fine with AI as well as Lakisa.  I would really like to see a guy win and do well from AI.  We have yet to see that.  And I think Blake is original enough that they can’t fit him into some mold they want.  He is just original.  And very pop so it seems like a good fit.  So we’re at the Top 12 tomorrow night and let’s hope Sanjaya goes this week!

One Tree Hill

January 29, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So after less than 2 weeks, I’ve finished watching Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of One Tree Hill.  Woot!  This is a great show!  I can not believe how much older/bigger James Lafferty was in Season 3.  He came back from High Flyers and I was like, oh my gosh, someone has been working out (ok, not really from High Flyers, but you know).  I think most teenagers are probably in love with Lucas but I really like Nathan!  I actually like him when he is mean and also when he is so sweet to Haley.  Kind of see both sides to him.  But don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of Lucas and I REALLY want Lucas and Peyton to get together.  I have a feeling it’s going to be like a Rachel and Ross thing and won’t get together until the last episode.  Which what I hear may be soon as they almost didn’t get their Season 4.  Let’s just hope I didn’t watch all this just for it to go off the air this season.  Dan is downright evil, I just don’t even see how the writers come up with the some of the things for him to do and say.  And poor Karen, Keith and her finally got it together and now he’s gone.  I don’t blame her for her anger.  So the finale of Season 3 kinda sucked.  Beautiful wedding and all but Nathan JUMPED OFF A BRIDGE.  Several people might be pregnant and right now, I have no more episodes to watch.  I do think I found the first 7 episodes online so I get to see a little of Season 4.  Anyway, until then, I’m waiting on the edge of my seat to see what happens.

One Tree Hill

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So my sister has now got me hooked on One Tree Hill.  No one else is allowed to let me borrow their Season 1 DVDs!!  LOL.

So, yeah, they are now in Season 4 of One Tree Hill and I’m on Disc 5 of 6 of Season 1, each episode around 45-50 minutes.  Much more work than getting caught up on two seasons of The Office.

But it is SO good.  Heather was here until 2:30am Thursday night and midnight last night.  And I plan to catch a couple before bed tonight too.  Yes, it’s a show about high school and basketball players and cheerleaders at that, but still.  It’s more about friendships and relationships and it may not be the deepest show ever but I’m hooked anyway!

Most

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

While I was at the church waiting on our video to be captured to computer, I saw a copy of the short movie called Most.  I had never heard of it but our youth pastor seems to have good taste in movies so I popped in the 33 minute movie while I waited.  It was SO good.  I cried (which, btw, I’ve been doing quite a bit to shows lately–like Grey’s Anatomy this week) towards the end.  I came home to tell Scott about it and he says, oh, I’ve heard that story lots of times from pastors.  It’s a story of a father and son.  The father takes the boy to his work as a bridge operator.  The bridge is up for a boat and the train comes early.  The boy sees it and tries to put the bridge down and falls into the gears.  The father finally sees the train and chooses to put the bridge down to save all the people on the train all the while sacrificing his sons life.  While the train goes by, a young woman watches the man crying and he sees her.  Later on it shows him trying to find meaning in life without his son and he see the woman with a newborn.  The baby is smiling and they are both happy.  The father is now happy that although he sacrificed his son, it gave life to many more.  I’m not sure if it purposely was a metaphor for God and Jesus, but boy, the message came across to me like that.  I hope our youth pastor uses it.  It was amazing.

The Office Rocks

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I can hardly stand how funny this show is.

“I miss Dwight.  Congratulations, Universe, you win.”  LOVE. IT.

I never thought one person could be more annoying/cheesy/immature as Michael Scott.  But, no, this Andy character is ANNOYING.  Micheal looked normal tonight.  Was Michael hiding behind the door not hilarious??  And I was SNORTING I was laughing so hard at that “cell phone device” ringing in the ceiling.

And wasn’t that the best “Yes.” from Jim ever?

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

AI – Seattle

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Blah.  Really.  I’m starting to be disappointed in this season!   I missed the first hour but still I can’t even bring one good singer to mind from last night.  They really need to show more good people and the bad people aren’t funny, they are sad and I feel bad for them.  Like they are making fun of people and not their singing, which is bad too but the people are just weird, not bad singers.  I don’t know, it’s just different.  PLEASE let’s hope Memphis is better than this.
