We’ve been decorating the living/dining

January 18, 2005 by Amy

We’ve been decorating the living/dining room like crazymen. We’ve painted the walls, painted our dining room chairs and base a dark brown color, hung new pictures. Yesterday I bought a wrought-iron thingy that hangs in the peak where our vaulted ceiling goes up and it looks so good! I also bought a large vase to sit on our dining room table and I love looking at it. We get a lot of light in the dining room and it looks so good. It has green and brown leopard sort of looking spots at the bottom of it and they shine so pretty. I have lots more plans for the dining room and I wish we had a ton of money to do it all at once!

Lexi went to the dr

January 18, 2005 by Amy

Lexi went to the dr on 1/12. She was 10lbs 12oz. 22″. 50% on everything. She looked good. Her ear infection had gone away, everything else looked fine. She got 3 shots and we heard about it let me tell you!

January 18, 2005 by Amy

I need to tell a few Emma stories.

We have been trying to potty train Emma. When she is at home, we put on her panties and try to get her to go. She’s been doing pretty good. We’ve had a few accidents but overall, she does well. Yesterday though she went poop in her panties (yeah, that’s when you know you’re a Mom and you can clean that up without throwing up). I told Mom and she said she watched a show recently that taught a potty training preschooler to do the “potty dance” when she had to go potty. So Mom leans down in front of Emma last night and says see Emma, this is what you do when you have to go potty. She had a long skirt on so she pulled it up and started moving her knees in and out singing, I gotta go potty. Mom stops and looks at Emma with a very bright, smiley face to get Emma’s reaction and Emma looks at her without missing a beat and says ‘mon, Grandma and turns around and heads to her room. It was THE funniest thing. She was like, OK, are you done doing the weird stuff, I want to play!

Then today Scott calls me and says that stop at a red light in the next town beside a grocery store. Emma starts hollering Emma’s neighbor. We have a man who’s like 80 that works in his yard constantly. Every once in a while, Scott and her go talk to him and Emma sees him occassionally out the bay windows at our dining room. Well, sure enough, Scott looks in the parking lot and there’s Fred walking into the store. Scott couldn’t believe it. I can’t either. How did she know that was him that far away??

The other day we were in Emma’s room playing and she “got on the phone”. I asked her who she was talking to and she put her finger up to her mouth and whispered, Shh, Emma phone. Meaning, be quiet, I’m trying to talk on the phone, Mommy!

She’s becoming quite a character.

I went into work yesterday.

January 7, 2005 by Amy

I went into work yesterday. It was amazingly quiet and I got SO much work done. I could have happily stayed for 3 more hours. I know we could use the money. I just got my check from when I only worked limited hours around the holidays and it hurts! Especially after we’ve spent so much money on Christmas and stuff for the house recently. Good thing I didn’t decide to be completely off. We really would be hurting.

I’m excited again about tax season. I don’t know why I do this every year. I love figuring out how much we are getting back. Maybe I like it just because we normally do get money back and hey, that’s always fun! I of course am waiting on all our forms to come in but I know that will be weeks.

Emma slept in her toddler bed last night. Scott took her in there and a few minutes later she came running out to the living room to me grinning and said, Emma, wake up. I said, No, you have to stay in your bed. She turned around and ran to her room, shut the door, got in bed and went to sleep. Alrighty then! She did wake up about 1am and got in bed with us for an hour. Scott took her back to her bed and she slept the rest of the night there. I heard her wake up this morning and went in there. She was just sitting on the side of her bed and was in an excellent mood, telling me the names of everything in her room. She’s so cute!

We are painting the living room and dining room this weekend..I can’t wait!

The long nights were short

January 5, 2005 by Amy

The long nights were short lived. She was up 3 or 4 times last night.

Emma is off to MawMaw’s for the rest of the afternoon. I’m working until I take Lexi to Wal-Mart to see if I can get some decent pictures made of her. I hate how they trick you and make the really cheap set the first picture they take. Then of course the other ones are the really cute ones and you still walk out with a $75 bill. I’m promising myself I’m not buying anything if it’s not mega-cute. I’ll go back another time and try again.

Hallelujah! Lexi ate at 9:30pm

January 4, 2005 by Amy

Hallelujah! Lexi ate at 9:30pm last night, went to sleep at 10:30pm and didn’t wake up until 5:45am. If it wasn’t for Emma waking me up briefly at 3:00am, I would have gotten 7 hours of continuous sleep. It was close enough!!

I have to take the

January 3, 2005 by Amy

I have to take the little one to the dr this afternoon. She’s woken up with yucky green stuff in her eyes. I’m guessing she’s got the pink eye that Emma had. I don’t know if I want to go because I’m not sure if I really want her on antibiotics which I’m sure they’ll stick her on. Plus, those eye drops are a pain to do. Emma was really good with them the first 2 days but then went downhill from there. And trying to wipe her nose is like breaking her arm. She hates it. She’ll run and if I manage to get her she puts her hands over her face and turns it away. It’s a real pain. But I can’t have green snot wiped everywhere! Scott and I have both caught what Emma had too. Scott can hardly talk today. I was like that yesterday but seem better today.

I bought the paint for the living room yesterday. I am SO excited to get it done. The new pictures I bought are going to look good with them and I can’t wait until Mom gets time to make our curtains. That won’t be until like next Summer but it’s nice to know I’ll have everything else ready for them.

Work is getting a bit frustrating only because I’m not getting as much done with Lexi as I did with Emma. I know it will get easier as she gets older but I hate not feeling as productive as I used to be. I may have to start working evenings to make sure I get my hours in. Like Scott says, I have it made having such a nice job that I can work from home so I better make the best of it. I am so wiped out in the evenings though. It’s going to take some major commitment to sit down for an hour or two straight to get work done in the evenings after Emma has gone to sleep.

Lexi is two months old today. I can’t believe it has been that long. She smiles several times a day now. She has the cutest smile. I love when she does it. She can hold her head up pretty well. No grabbing of objects, turning over or anything like that.

Well, work calls and so does Lexi. In fact, so does Emma. gotta go.

Christmas turned out really well.

January 1, 2005 by Amy

Christmas turned out really well. The jump-o-lene we got Emma was huge. She loved it but we had to deflate it and put it in the garage. It took up our whole living room. Emma got a little bike and big easel from Scott’s parents and a table and chair set and bookcase from mine. Plus clothes and such. Scott bought me an Epson digital picture printer that has the scanner and copier in it too. The quality still isn’t quite what it is at a professional place, but it does well for grandparent pictures and such. The meal I fixed at Christmas was way very yummy. We had ham (Honeybaked Ham), sweet potatoes and squash casserole.

Since starting back to work I have almost no time to do anything. I am barely getting hours in. I think I’m going to have to start going in the office once a week to make sure I stay on top of things. It would be nice to get a break every once in a while anyway. I just hate having to pump at work!

New Years night went by without a glance. We were in bed by 10:30. Lexi woke up at 12:08 but of course that was too late to see the ball drop. I read on the bulletin board at babycenter that some babies are already sleeping through the night! I couldn’t believe it. Lexi is still up 3 times a night. I can not wait until I can get a full night’s sleep again. I know it will be a few more months, but gosh, I am ready!

MIL and FIL came and got Emma for the afternoon. I felt bad because she said to Emma, are you ready to go? I thought they were coming over to just spend time here. Then I felt bad because I wasn’t going over to their house since I don’t really have anywhere to go. I was going to say I was coming over but then I thought of all the stuff I can get done this afternoon with her gone. Like this! But, I should move on. I have lots of straightening up to do and our checkbook hasn’t been balanced in two or three weeks!
