The evening I bought and clipped 300 coupons

January 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Melissa got sick and we had to postpone our Starbuck’s meeting but don’t you know I’ll hold her to that.  The evening was pretty low-key.  I drug dragged took the family with me to go buy two more Sunday papers.  If you haven’t bought yours yet, you need to.  There are SIX inserts.  I’m going BACK to CVS tomorrow to get a ton more free/very cheap stuff and since it’s not ECB deals, there’s no limit so watch out, folks.

We made a stop at Starbuck’s on the way home from that and actually went in and sat down with the girls who were very well behaved.  I think Lexi was scared of it or something because she stuck to me like glue.  Or it may have been because she was so tired because she literally asked me to go to bed when we got home around 7:45.

After they went to bed, I Interneted (my inner geek just likes using that word in verb form) for awhile and then sat down to clip my coupons while I watched Gossip Girl and a rerun of OTH.  It took FOREVER to clip so many.  I haven’t been doing that and going with the Coupon Mom approach and keeping them in the inserts and dating them.  But I found that many coupons the coupon mom has in her database don’t match up with my inserts so it was sort of worthless.  There were some that matched but I found Heather’s system of clipping and organizing so much faster when you’re actually in the store looking for something last minute.

So now I’m closing up shop for tonight and still need to read my Bible in 90 days for today.  I better get started as I’ve already taken a sleep aid and it should be kicking in soon.

The day I clicked setup.exe 50 times

January 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Getting a new laptop from work is great but that means I have to install every single piece of software I use besides my mail application.  It has taken nearly all day to do it.

The day started out not so great either when we didn’t wake up until 8:51 when I flew out of bed got me and the girls dressed and ran out the door.  They were only 20 minutes late but it wasn’t a great feeling to be so behind already.

The rest of the day has literally been spent getting my new laptop set up and of course answering calls for food, opened puzzles, web site URLs and TV shows.

This evening I get to go spend some time with Melissa over coffee which I can’t wait for.

Now, if I could just get a shower for today, I’d be good to go 🙂

Oh, in other random news, our elliptical technician guy FINALLY called and we have an appointment set up for Thursday.  Yay!

That one day we didn’t get out of bed until 9:38

January 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

The girls stayed at home last night and I thought we were in for an early morning when they were both asleep by 8pm.  But somewhere in the night Lexi ended up in our bed with Scott and I ended up in the girls’ bed with Emma.  And we all stayed asleep until 9:38am.  It was grand.

We got up and got us and the girls ready and took them over to his parents.  We made a trip to CVS and then came home and opted to eat lunch in and clean up some.  I actually got to reorganize my office shelves which were a disaster and under my bathroom counter which was even more of a disaster.  After that, Scott and I just vegged on the couch and watched Shopgirl.

This evening was spent at Chili’s celebrating D’s birthday.  It literally took all evening because we waited an hour and a half to get a table for 14 people.  The girls went right to bed when we got home and now instead of blogging I really need to be studying for Sunday School in the morning.

That day I argued with a gas pump and got a new laptop

January 4, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Work was decent today although busy.  The day started out a little wobbly when I was fighting with the gas pump when it kept beeping at me to pick which gas I wanted and I kept telling it (literally) I had.  Turns out I had picked up the Diesel pump and was trying to pick regular gas.  Good thing those hose thingies are different sizes and it’s smart enough not to pour out regular gas when you choose it while holding the diesel pump or I’d have had a mess on my hands.

Anyway.

I had two meetings today, a great Mexican lunch, had coworkers put in power steering fluid in my car when it started making very odd noises and would hardly turn, gave up the pager, got a new laptop after mine died randomly today and came home a little late.  Some good, some bad but all busy today.

This evening was spent at Mom’s and the girls were asleep as soon as we got home at 8.  I’m trying to catch up on my computer time I didn’t have today.  I seriously think I might need to go to an addiction center for computers.

We have no plans for tomorrow and the house is in an almost clean state.  Just some dusting and cleaning of the bathrooms should take care of it.   Sounds like it should be an easy going Saturday and Sunday for us.

My New Year’s Day 2008

January 1, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

So I did it…I actually went to sleep last night at 10pm.  I briefly woke up right at midnight when it sounded like my entire town had exploded.  I turned the tv on just in time to see the ball drop and then was back asleep within a minute or so. I slept in until almost 10.  I was well rested unlike a lot of people today.

We picked up the girls and ate a traditional New Year’s Day dinner at IL’s.  The girls decided to stay there and play and Scott and I came home.  Scott took a nap and I put up Christmas tree stuff while I continued to watch the One Tree Hill marathon that is on SOAPNet today.

Heather came over this evening and her Scott and I drove through Steak and Shake drive thru for dinner.  The rest of the evening has been spent doing absolutely nothing but watching the One Tree Hill marathon.   It’s fabulous.

(trying something new with the bold stuff.  these type of posts can be boring but those are the “highlights”)

Happy New Year, Ya’ll, I’m really going to sleep

December 31, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Seriously.  Scott went to work at 8.  I dropped the kids off at Mom’s and was back home by 8:45 (after getting almost home and realizing I hadn’t left Mom the van).  I’ve done my share of Interneting and I just took a sleep aid and I plan to be knocked out by the time 2008 rings in.  This will be the first year I don’t stay up.  I may as well start the year I turn 30 off like an old woman.

Happy New Year, folks.  Give someone a kiss for me at midnight.

Lack of sleep catching up today

December 31, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So the lack of sleep for me is catching up with me today.  Saturday night I lay in bed and think I saw the clock at 4am.  I may have drifted on and off but it was definitely not good sleep.  Last night I think it was 1:30 until I got to sleep.   Add in the girls lack of stimulation for being out of school and I’m a little grumpy today to be honest.  Looks like I’m going to be alone for New Year’s.  Scott is working and Mom said she was going to keep the girls.  I may take a sleep aid around 9 and call it a year.

Today, um, Yesterday was good

December 31, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Yeah, so it’s technically Monday now but I wanted to write a bit about Sunday.  It was the normal church, lunch, throw in family pictures at the local rescue squad, study for youth group, youth group bible study, pick kids up at Mom’s kind of Sunday.

But I wanted to make note today was our new youth pastor’s first full day at church.  He sat in my Sunday School class which is the 10th-12th grade and then once again this evening when I taught bible study.  We also have planned a guest speaker for Wednesday night as he wants to get a feel for the place before speaking.  But what I was surprised about is how much more talkative he was today than before when he had visited.  He was pretty quiet while I was teaching, not putting any commentary in but he was teasing a lot of the youth before and after and then added some comments tonight after I requested any other input from anyone.  I had kind of been worried he was too quiet than what our group was used to but I think he’s going to work out just fine.  And I was also surprised to find I was quite at ease teaching around him.  Normally I clam up around other adults but I didn’t today.  Maybe it’s just me getting used to being a teacher/speaker.  And I was even more happy when I walked out and realized that may be my last bible study I may have to teach for awhile and really, that takes some weight of my (and other leaders I’m sure) shoulders.  Reinforcements are here!

This evening I have completely wasted spent Interneting.  Well, I did have official work for about an hour when some problems came through and then I’ve been working on my other blog.  So far that blog has totally not been worth my time and money.  We’re getting visitors alright, but unfortunately not seeing much money from it.  Maybe I’m missing on how to do something??  I’m hoping with the new season starting in about a week, it will pick up.  If I’m not seeing much out of it within a few weeks, I may hang on to get my money back and then abandon the whole thing.  No point in pouring all this time into something that’s just a time drainer.  I really do love the show and all and I’d probably post about the show on here like I do others but it’s a lot of work trying to keep up with every single tidbit of info that comes in on the show and cast.

Oh, I suppose it’s officially New Year’s Eve…last day of 2007…unbelievable.

Oh, let me tell you a little story to make us all feel old.  A youth member and her dad were sort of teasing each other and she made some comment like, "You’re so old-fashioned, this IS the twenty-first century, it’s not like it’s the 80s anymore or anything!"  Wow, I think that hurt.
