what i did today

please restrain your child

July 6, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Well, yesterday afternoon went eat, shop, eat, movie.  Sort of like I thought it would be.

We ate at our favorite restaurant D’Atri’s and had a great steak sub.  We headed to the mall after that.  I only bought one shirt for the whole trip.  The girls were absolutely losing their minds by the end of it, crawling on the floor and meowing in the shoe department.  So Dad took me home with the girls where they played a little until the rest of them got home and we headed to dinner at an Italian restaurant with my aunt and uncle.  Lexi and Emma were not well-behaved there either.  There were two older couples sitting at a table beside us. Emma had her baby blanket with her and swung it around to put around her like Little Red Riding Hood and hit the woman on the shoulder I think with it.   The other lady said something to Emma and if looks could kill, both of my children would have fallen down dead.  She continued to give looks anytime the kids said or did anything above a whisper.  I was annoyed too.  At one point, they were playing hide and seek under the table and were playing ballerina beside the table.  It was embarrassing.  But at the same time, Lexi is 2.  TWO.  I only have so much control over her.  Have you ever tried to literally shut a child up or restrain them so they don’t run around?  Even if you wanted, it’s nearly impossible.  The mother in me got defensive and wanted to scream at the woman and ask her if SHE ever had any children and it must have been too long ago that she must not remember how difficult it is and please give us a little compassion and patience.  Ugh, that grated on my nerves the whole evening and I think it still might a bit.  Dinner was overall good though.  I had a huge crab cake and it was great to see my family.

They came over to the house after dinner and watched Shooter with us.  Since I have recently watched that movie twice, I put the girls to bed and gave up halfway through it to also go to bed.   Mom got up with the girls this morning and I slept until after 9:30.  There was nothing to eat here and Emma was starting to ask for chips and cookies for breakfast, so I headed to the grocery store and bought stuff to make pancakes, eggs and bacon which I did when I got home.  Now the girls are chilling watching Curious George.  I would like to get ready and take them to a local park or maybe the Dollar General to get some paint and book supplies for them.  Who knows what we’ll do though.

today’s plans

July 5, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

The girls woke up kinda early today but stayed in bed with me and then woke up together and played by themselves.  Which was great for me because I didn’t actually get out of bed until after 9.  Yay me.  My grandmother is here and is going to spend the day with us.  I’m sure we’ll be headed to our favorite Italian sub restaurant within the next hour or two.  Besides that, I don’t think we have any official plans for the rest of the weekend.  I’m sure it will involve shopping, movies, eating and more shopping.

i’m here

We made it to my uncle’s in Hagerstown.  Spent some time with extended family until they left.  Then we went shopping at the Outlets.  I didn’t get a thing.  Even went into Ann Taylor and Nine West and left with nothing.  I didn’t even spend a dime on the girls.  We’re debating staying here and watching the fireworks before heading over to Cumberland.  I think the kids are getting pretty worn out though so who knows.

short post

July 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This is going to be a short post I believe.  Basically yesterday and today consisted of work.  I had the implementation last night that had issues and I was on a conference call for an extra 2 hours.  Today I went into the office.  This evening was spent out and about with my family having dinner and shopping for movies for the trip.  Movies: $80. Snacks: $20.  My sanity on road trip tomorrow: priceless.

Needless to say I’m packing tonight and leaving first thing tomorrow.  We’re headed to my parents house in MD and will be there until Sunday.

“Start of something new”

July 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I have that song stuck in my head from High School Musical which I’ve watched twice today.  The girls actually really liked watching it with me.  Finally a movie we can both enjoy.    I had seen parts of it on the beach trip back in February but never watched it through.  It’s a cute little movie.  Reminds me of Grease a lot.

So today in a nutshell was church, pool, nap, choir, ice cream, Mom’s house, High School Musical.  Yeah, not much more to say about that.  Nothing really interesting.

Well, one thing sort of sticks out.  When we were at Bruester’s (how do you spell that?? Brewster’s, Bruster’s, I don’t know) this couple with a young son probably 18 months old or so had two dogs in their car.  Lexi insisted on going to see the puppies (that’s what she calls dogs most of the time) and the couple was hanging around their car with their ice cream. I had noticed because their car tag said Hawaii which I thought was interesting since I’m in the South and all.  Anyway, they were very gracious and opened the hatchback and let the girls pet them.  Lexi asked their name and it was Koa and Maui.  I said, are you guys from Hawaii?  They said yeah, we just moved here.  I mentioned noticing their tag and they joked about how long of a drive it was.  They seemed like a REALLY cool couple.  We walked away and I told Heather I wish there was a way you could just say, hey, you guys seem like really cool people, want to be my friend?  I don’t know why they still stick out to me, I guess I’m hoping we run into each other in town again.  Who knows, it’s a small enough town for it to happen.

today

Today was a good day.

This morning me and the girls were out the door at 9:15 to go to my cycling class. After that, I headed to MILs to drop the girls off. When I got home, I immediately got in the pool and lounged for an hour in complete silence.  That was fantastic.  Then I came in and took a nap in Emma’s bed for 2 hours.  That was fantastic.  Scott was up by then and he went to pick up the girls.  Soon after they got home we headed to Mom’s and stayed there for the rest of the evening.  Although I wouldn’t called it fantastic, we did have fun playing tag, running races and playing Red Rover in the yard after we got back from dinner.  We’ve just gotten home and I put the girls to bed.  So all in all, today’s been a great day.

Today was work, pool, VBS.  That’s about it.  I took Lexi to VBS thinking I’d take the pictures I needed and go home if she was acting clingy but as soon as I sat down with her in the sanctuary, she fell asleep and stayed asleep until 8.  So I got everything done and stayed until Emma was done at 8:30.

MIL called tonight and she’s going to get the girls tomorrow morning.  I’m going to try to clean tonight so I can spend all day doing my own thing tomorrow.  Yahoo!

something new

June 28, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Finally, my day went a little differently.  Well, to start with this morning I found a second lump on the back of my neck after finding the second one last night.  After a quick google search saying it may be lymphoma, a family friend recently being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s and with the history of cancer in my family, both Scott and I felt the need for me to take a visit to the doctor right away.  I went right before lunch and was there for just a few minutes thankfully after he said the knots were “firm and rubbery” instead of “hard like a rock”.  Yeah, talking about lumps in my neck, people.  Stay focused!  So he said he could put me on antibiotics because it was most likely an infection of some sort.  I’m supposed to just make sure they don’t change a great deal.

So at lunch we ran out to McDonald’s.  I was SO not in the mood for it but Wendy’s line was a mile long inside and out.  After work we got in the pool until it was VBS time.

Lexi and I decided to play hooky (sp?) from VBS.  She’s pretty over it and I was too.  Scott went early to help and I took Emma to the church.  Lexi fell asleep on the way home so Heather and I watched Daddy’s Little Girls until 7ish when we woke Lexi up to go to Longhorn’s for dinner.  We were running pretty late to go pick up Emma but made it 15 minutes after VBS ended and MIL and SIL were staying with Emma.  Scott apparently was breaking up fights all night.  I haven’t gotten the full details on that but I think everyone eventually calmed down.

Scott worked on the deck this morning while L was here.  The big part of the deck is done so just the small part to go.  He has to work this weekend so who knows when it will get done.  I have no plans for this weekend except the last night of VBS is tomorrow and Sunday they’re having a “tail-gate family night” of VBS after church on Sunday.
