Yeah, thanks

I can appreciate a beautiful woman.  It (generally) doesn’t bother me when Scott looks at another woman and I’ve been known to point one out to a man around me.  So I’m scrolling through my Google Reader tonight and see this picture of Eva Longoria.  I poke Scott in the ribs and say, “Here ya go.”  I mean, who can’t appreciate a little Eva?

So he continues to watch as I scroll down to the next post and he then pokes me in the ribs and says, “There ya go.”  And this is the picture with the post:

And that’s what I get for trying to be a nice wife.  So overrated.

Christmas 2008 Continued

December 28, 2008 by Amy 6 Comments

This weekend has gone WAY too fast.  I can not believe it is already Sunday night.

Yesterday we had lunch over at my dad’s sister’s.  There was one new engagement and two new puppies there.  Otherwise, it was pretty status quo…dinner, presents and wait, we did play a Dirty Santa game.  We’re not really the game playing kind of family but we had A LOT  of fun.  Here is one cute picture of Emma, Lexi and my cousin “getting Nana comfortable”.

When we got done there we were supposed to catch the tail end of a family reunion but only caught my aunt and my mom’s cousin in the parking lot. I’ll have to tell a story from there in another post…

We spent the evening at my mom’s dad’s house. It was a nice time but nothing exceptionally blogworthy. There was a cute moment when Lexi was looking at all their Christmas cards that were taped on a door and I asked which ones she liked and she said “All the ones with Jesus”. Both kids have been fascinated with the nativity scene this year.

Today was spent at my mom’s sister’s house. It was at least an hour drive and we spent all afternoon there. We made a stop at my cousin’s house on the way back but it was basically an all-day event. One thing interesting there was that Emma and Lexi spent almost the entire afternoon playing “war” with my two boy cousins that are near their ages. This was probably the first time all the kids went outside for so long without constant supervision and were perfectly happy that way. My aunt lives on five acres of land and we were out in the middle of nowhere. The kids played near the house and seemed content to play with two guns my boy cousins had and the rocks on the ground. They were cold and dirty when they came in but we had to drag them away. Definitely not what I’m used to at home.

My aunt also has an old building on their land which belongs to her husband’s family. I think they said the building was the second largest John Deere retailer several years back. Now it just looks like a rundown concrete building with barn doors but I knew it would make for some great photos. I dragged (drug?) Scott out of the house and round up the kids for a few pictures. I just wish we had more time and it hadn’t been so cold. Emma and my cousin took some of these so I’m happy they came out as well as they did.

Christmas 2008

December 26, 2008 by Amy 3 Comments

Christmas went really well this year.  Christmas Eve we went to Mom’s house.  We had dinner and opened presents.  I got new luggage, a headboard for our room, a sweater and some Office paper products :).

Christmas morning we opened presents of course.  I really slacked on the Santa thing this year.  After Emma opened half her presents and picked out the wrapping paper she wanted, it was really hard to skirt all the questions about how Santa used the wrapping paper, which presents were from Santa and so forth.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Emma figures it all out by next year.  If not, I might have to sit down and have the convo or maybe pay some kid to blab it all.  It’s exhausting keeping up the charades.

Anyway, the kids were happy with most of their presents.  Emma was ecstatic about her PixO’s and Lexi got excited over each present, even her pj’s.  Although at the end Lexi wondered where the rest of her presents were and Emma did get upset we picked out the Cinderella earrings instead of Hannah Montana.  I convinced her the princess ones were better for Disney though.

I bought Scott a LaserJet printer for partly selfish reasons of not hearing about how we needed a LaserJet printer for all the coupon and coloring page things we print.  He was happy though and it was better than handing him a Home Depot gift card.

I was excited to go on a little hunt to find my MacBook Scott had secretly bought.  I had a hint he might get it but no proof.  I think I’ve been attached to it since.  I have a lot to learn but it’s fun to have a challenge.

At lunch we went to Scott’s parents and had a nice time.  I got some Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy perfume and the suitcase I had bought with my Christmas money.  Mom had already bought my other suitcase by the time I bought the one from his parents.  We all now have really nice suitcases for our trip! The kids have been over the moon with their Baby Alive Learns to Potty they got there. Oh boy howdy, do I love feeding and changing poopy diapers again 🙂

Yesterday afternoon we went to see Marley & Me.  It was really, really good and made me want to bust out in an ugly cry it was so sad at the end.  WAY too close to what we went through with Dad’s dog Trooper.

So last night we went to see his parents one more time before heading out of town this morning.  The rest of the evening was spent packing and figuring out this new computer (which I’m typing this from!).

So that’s it!  We still have all of our Christmas to do this weekend but I think that’s a post on its own.

I used iMovie to edit a few of my favorite moments from yesterday into a movie.  Please forgive me in my robe and horrible hair but you had to see the MacBook Moment. The end is hilarious as my mom tries to figure out how to play soccer on our Wii. First she tries to use her head and then when we tell her to use her knees, it just gets funnier.

* FIL ended up having a catheter put in yesterday.  Some good news is the damage from his heart attack a few years back is gone and his heart looks strong.
* Scott got sick last night.  He had a fever and nausea.  He still went into work at 4:30 this morning . He refuses to call in sick ever.  I would have called in last night and been in bed all day.  I’m a model employee like that.
* I still have one more present I’d like to get.  And I need more wrapping paper.  I’m going to have to brave the stores at some point today.
* The kids are loving their Christmas break.  They’ve been getting up early, playing on their own and then spending all day playing well together.  It’s only day 2 but so far so good.
* I did a cleanse day yesterday.  Woke up this morning down a pound (since I’ve gained a few with all these parites) and wasn’t famished so I decided to do another one today.  I’m supposed to do two a month but back to back days are not required. I figured I better get it in before Christmas.  For some reason, I’m running out of the drink fast so I’m not sure I’ll have enough to make it all day.  If that’s the case, I’ll just eat a salad tonight.
* I won movie tickets today!  I got eight tickets good for two at our local theater to any of these films:  Seven Pounds, Yes Man, The Tale of Despereaux,  Bedtime Stories, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Valkyrie,  The Spirit, Marley and Me. Anyone have any recommendations? The funny thing is Heather won them too.    We figure anyone that enters is winning or we are really lucky!  And I entered Scott as well so we will be OVERFLOWING with movie tickets if he wins too.

Disney March 2009

December 22, 2008 by Amy 4 Comments

So we’re doing it. We’ve planned a trip to Disney.  Well, Jen and all of her (free) travel planning skills have planned a trip to Disney.  I was completely clueless and  at her mercy.  It was so easy just to say here, this is what I want now tell me the best thing to do.  Fifty questions later and the trip is planned March 27th.  We’ll be there five nights.  We have a  hopper pass and a dinner plan which I hear are both good things to have.

We’ve told the kids they are going and they are really excited. I think Scott’s sister, family and their parents are going with us.  It was back and forth whether they’d go for a few days there so we invited a teenager from church to go with us.  Maybe not a must now that the whole family is going but her sister works at Disney so she’ll be to see her as well as help with the kids.   She’s a ton of fun so it will be fun to have her with us.

I’m generally excited about going.  We’re not huge Disney fans in general, Scott gets testy in crowds and lines and it’s always iffy to be going with a large group.  I sound so excited right?  But I think the kids are going to be so beside themselves it will all be worth it.

Merry Christmas and Happy Monday. Love, Scott

December 22, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

I guess this is as close to a guest post from my husband as I’ll ever get.  So predictable I’m the one writing it but he did send me two of his favorite (clean) Retarded Policeman YouTube videos.  Obviously he’s allowed to make fun of cops because he is one.  I’m not really comfortable with this guy calling himself a Retarded Policeman but that’s what he calls himself so what am I to do?  (Some of the other videos of his are funnier but they can be pretty crude. But funny.). The first one is an introduction of sorts called Hi! The second one is called Sobriety Test.
