My name is…my name is

January 10, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Another story about the words coming out of my children’s mouths…

We were joking around tonight and throwing out some Spanish things for the kids to say.  They were only doing is taking turns saying “Hola” and we kept trying to get them to say other things.  I tried to get Emma to say “Mi llama Emma.”  (I have no idea if that’s the right way to say it) She refused so I looked at Lexi and said, “Lexi, say ‘mi llama Lexi’.”  Lexi saying very proudly, “Emma Lexi.”  I think we’ll have to try the whole Spanish thing again later.

I got married for the brutal honesty

January 10, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I was getting my makeup on just now to go out to eat tonight and had my hair pulled back in a clip.  I did get a shower at 7:45 today, thankyouverymuch.  I normally do my makeup before my hair so this clip thing is not necessary.  Anyway, I thought my hair was kind of cute with the bangs pulled back.  I went out to my lovely husband and said, "What do you think of my hair like this?"

Scott: Uhhh, no, it makes your forehead look too big.

Well, thanks, I think I’ll put my hair down.  Forever.

Elliptical Saga Continues

January 10, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Are you tired of hearing about ellipticals?  Today the technician finally came out to replace the parts the manufacturer sent.  He twisted and pounded and lubed the thing up but one side of it would not come off.  He said someone at the factory must have screwed it up.  He called the store and apparently he knows them really well and just told them to send us a new one.  We’re supposed to get a call in max of 3 days.  Not holding my breath on that one though.

If we still have issues, we’re going to want a different machine.

And just for the record this is a Horizon machine and the tech said they have a ton of problems out of them.  So far, I don’t recommend the Horizon.  And it sounded like the money for a Sole might be worth it because he says they never get calls about them.

“Read me Jesus”

January 10, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Reading the Bible in 90 days has some great personal benefits but I saw another one last night.  Yesterday I read Leviticus and boy is that chapter bor-ring.  So I split it up and was reading it right before the girls went to bed.  They came in my room and saw me reading and asked what I was doing.  I was happy to say, "I’m reading the Bible."  They don’t ever see me do that much and I would like for them to see that more.  But what was cute is Emma asked me to read a story and then Lexi says, "Read me Jesus."  Isn’t that sweet?

This week I’m thankful for:

  • Help in our youth group. Between the new youth pastor and possible music lead, I’m psyched.

  • New Grey’s Anatomy episode tonight…haha…

  • Allison for helping me a bunch this week

  • A great host who’s customer service rocks!

  • The Bible in 90 Days group. I love that I’m sticking to it.

  • The rain last night and today.

hi, i’m amy and i hate making up titles

January 9, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Tonight was actually enjoyable at youth. That sounds horrible but I’ve been dreading it recently because of the whole band thing. This week we talked to a guy in our church G who is apparently very passionate (and good) at singing and music in general. He is PSYCHED about it which makes me PSYCHED that he’s PSYCHED. Now we just need students that can come regularly to practices. I say “we” but I’m not really sure I mean “we”. I think I may hang in there and go to practices and maybe sing backup to him with a few other youth but ultimately I’d like to be out of the loop. We’ll see. I really do like singing so I don’t mind singing with someone who can lead which I know he can do. Yay!

I do have to say my feelings were a wee bit hurt tonight…K gave all the kids chances for Q&A and he asked what needed changed and in a split second a few said The Band! I was like OUCH. Part of me wanted to cry, part of me wanted to quit on the spot, part of me wanted to say you wouldn’t have had ANY band if I hadn’t stepped in to help and snapped my fingers and part of me wanted to say AMEN, the band sucks. I really do wish we could have been more successful on our own but you can only do so much with what talent your given.

So here I am again Interneting my life away…so much to do, so little time.

Works for Me Wednesday: Backwards Edition

January 9, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

This week we have to ask the blog world for tips on something instead of giving advice.  My question this week is…

I need to learn Flash and quick….anyone have a good online course/site for me.  Also, anyone know of good template (?) sites to build a site?

For more WFMW, go see Shannon.
