It’s the big birthday party day

November 10, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today’s the day.  We spend way too much money for way too much sugar, bad pizza and corny entertainment all for the sake of the love of our children.  The last count was 20 kids with Emma and Lexi and then all the parents.  Scott finally overheard the number of how much we were paying for it last night and about had a cow.  I can’t really blame him but but there’s not a whole lot of negotiating they allow at Chuck E. Cheese.

All kidding aside though, I’m actually really excited.  We pick up their cakes from the store today at noon.  Emma has High School Musical and Lexi has Shrek.  I’m still confused on why they picked those but to each his own–at least on birthday cake decorations.  The girls are super excited and I can’t wait to meet all their friends from school, especially their "boyfriends", and to see how they interact with them.   I’m still standing by my rule for this one though, "There’ll be no kissing at this party!"

I’m a little concerned that we have so many worlds colliding today…family, church, school…and how it will all mesh together.  Not so much for the children because hey, they’re going to be running around screaming in a constant circle for an hour and a half, but really for the adults.  Of course, everyone is probably just going to have their eyes glued to their children, trying not to lose them amongst the crowd that no one will even have much time to make it a social event.  Yes, somehow I’m making this event about me and my lack of social skills.

Pictures and update surely to come later today…

Friday’s Feast

November 9, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Almost forgot to do this today…

Appetizer
Which snack do you like to get when you go to the movies?

I usually don’t get anything because I’m cheap like that.  But if I splurge, I go for the Reese’s pieces.  Also will eat popcorn if someone else gets it.

Soup
What year did you start using the internet?

My dad bought our first home computer in 1993.

Salad
What is your first name in Pig Latin? (Here’s how to speak it if you don’t already know!)

uh..amyay..amyway…myway…myaway..i have no clue and for some reason can’t figure it out.  Anyone know?

Main Course
Name something you are picky about.

The toilet paper being rolled from the top not the bottom.

Dessert
Fill in the blanks: I ____ ____ yesterday and I ____ ____ today.

I had my hair cut yesterday and I liked it better when I styled it today.

Grey’s Anatomy November 8, 2007

November 9, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I was happy with this episode. Much, much more than last week.

George and Izzie…the whole time I’m thinking, Izzie needs to go get some from Alex..remember how to do it right.  lol  Gizzie just needs to give it up.  It’s just weird.  Still wanting to cover my eyes through half their scenes.

Chief and McDreamy.  Very cute storyline with them this week even though it was a little obvious it was purposely being written in.  Which I guess is a dumb statement since the whole is purposely written.  I just mean it didn’t seem really natural in some parts.  But they really sounded just like a married couple.

McSteamy and McDreamy – I really like them as friends and enjoyed their scenes together last night.

Cristina – I really felt bad for her this week.  Usually I don’t have much compassion for her.  But they took her heart husband away and it was actually sad.

Bailey and Callie – I did like the surgery scene with Callie dancing.  But SO, SO, SO happy she got fired/demoted.  Was anyone else confused about that?  I thought she just got demoted but she told Cristina she was fired.  Bailey was hilarious explaining everything to the Chief and even better when she told him she was glad he finally realized what she’s been doing and then proceeded to cry.  That was a great moment.

Alex and Lexie – I don’t know.  I’m just not into Lexie yet. I didn’t feel bad for her.  Was definitely on Meredith’s side as messed up as she is.  I’m glad Alex stuck with Meredith but I did like that Meredith told Alex at the end to go take her sister home.

I noticed a little glitch in the editing last night. When Izzie is in the room post-op with plastic surgery woman, in one little clip from the back, Izzie is wearing a black elastic band and the other times she is not.

The Hair Cut

November 9, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I think the really bad before picture from my really bad cell phone camera helps make the after look oh so much better than it is.  You can see I didn’t lose much length on the bottom but my layers around the crown/face are much, much shorter.  I’m so close to not posting this before picture because it’s just so bad, but oh well…

Busy evening/weekend

November 9, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Last night turned out to be quite the busy evening at the last minute.

MIL called and wanted everyone to get together for FIL’s birthday yesterday so we cooked and everyone came over here.

I also called yesterday morning and made an appointment for my hair.  The last inch or so of damaged hair from my really bad blonde streak in my hair HAD to be cut out.  So the good news is my hair is nice and soft now but the bad news is the layers around my face are a little shorter than I had wanted.  Overall I’m really happy with it and I shall post some before and after pictures for your enjoyment and/or amusement whenever I finally decide to get a shower today.

M (girl that used to be in our youth group) went with me and we stopped at Starbuck’s on the way out of the mall.  Yum.  Hair cut, hair products in a bag and Starbuck’s.  Heavenly.  We headed back to the house to finish up the night by completing the weekly ritual of watching Grey’s Anatomy together.  More to come on that, but it turned out to be a great evening.

As for this weekend…Mom has the girls out now for the weekly Friday shopping/lunch date.  Tonight the girls are staying with MIL (I hope) and then tomorrow is the big birthday party.  Right now we have 17 kids plus Emma and Lexi and all the parents and family going.  I’m guessing we’ll have 40-50 people. It should be quite the event.  I’m just really glad I don’t have to clean my house, buy decorations and paper products and have people over.  I love having people over but 19 preschoolers and their parents and both sides of the family all within 200 square feet?  No thanks.

So this weekend should be busy but fun.  Especially since it will be a long one for me since we have Monday off.  Whoo Hoo!

Lullabies

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

PlayPlay

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Well, not exactly lullabies but I decided to record myself singing the hymns/praise songs I sing to the girls at night.  I’m hoping they might like that in the future or maybe I’ll even make a DVD of it for them now.  Both girls usually settle down and almost instantly fall asleep when I take the time to sing them through.  No editing and first shot at it so don’t be cruel on the quality of my voice if you comment, I don’t take criticism well ;).

Emma’s favorite by far…Agnus Dei

One of my favorite praise songs ever… Sanctuary

And a classic… Amazing Grace

The Hills November 5, 2007

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

FINALLY mtv.com fixed their online episode.

Very sad not to see anymore Brody and Lauren in this episode.

Birthday dinner was nice of Spencer but still, they don’t seem to really get along.  I don’t like his attitude.

The fashion show went a lot better than I thought the previews made it out.  For some reason I’m amazed that Whitney and Lauren do all that at their young age. I would have been/be terrified to be in charge of all that.

And look at Justin Bobby getting jealous.

Next week looks great where Lauren and Heidi finally have it out…

Music from this week’s episode:

Test Your Reflex, I Am Alive
Fergie, Clumsy
Light FM, All Fades Away
Cartel, Burn This City
Gran Ronde, Say, Say, Say
The Sleeping, Loud and Clear
Ashley Tisdale, He Said She Said
The Ruse, Beautiful is Gone
Cobra Starship, Smile for the Paparazzi
Jordan Taylor, Shake It
Cooler Kids, All Around the World
Taxi Doll, Soft Kill
Nikki Saletta, I Want to Dance

I think I watch too much tv

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

If dreams mean anything, I think what I took from last night’s dream is that I work too much and I watch tv WAY too much.

I wish I had written down exactly what happened when I woke up because there were so many more details and a cohesive storyline but this is what I do remember:

  • Making out with Jim from The Office.  I seem to remember something about a car (viewers of Gossip Girl, you may remember Serena talking about making out in a car in last night’s episode)
  • Small storyline of me being invited to a nude work party at someone’s house.  And I was dating a guy I work with (as in someone I actually work with).  I remember hugging him in the garage (?) and then going in his house where his wife and child were.  I remember passing behind another large female coworker (which was an imaginary coworker – I don’t work with any large women) and she had no clothes on.  Once inside, I think I may have had a robe on and was playing with their child and was very friendly with his wife.  OMG, I just realized this is like The Shot on VH1 where the people took nude picture and then were walking around in a robe in between shots.
  • Then there was a second nude work party but I didn’t want to go nude so I went in underwear and a bra and then we all were in a yard sitting in a circle of lawn chairs.  I was in my bra/underwear and everyone else was in matching navy blue short and white Dunder Mifflin (!) polo shirts.  My manager (fictitious) was talking about what a bad job I was doing and I had let a request from a customer go without completing it and another coworker spoke up and said, no that should have been closed. (the closing of a ticket came from a conference call yesterday at work).

That’s all I remember and people, my brain is being fried by The Office, The Shot, Gossip Girl and too much work!
