Most Embarrassing Moment

November 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

When people ask for my most embarrassing moment, I usually can not think of one.  I get embarrassed at the drop of a hat.  My face, neck and chest all turn red, I laugh and then can’t look people in the eye.  It’s gotten better as I’ve gotten older, but I still have my moments.

But tonight.  Tonight I was embarrassed.  And maybe it was my most embarrassing moment to date.

Heather and the girls and I stopped at Harris Teeter on the way home from Mom’s to pick up a few things.  Lexi had a dirty diaper but we were just getting a few things and I had no wipes and no diapers.  She wasn’t bothered about it so neither was I.

So we get to the check-out and it’s a young man checking us out.  I’m pretty sure he was around 17 or 18 or so.  The girls are back at the cart playing around the racecar cart we got and I’m standing at the card reader.  The guy looks up at me with his hand at his nose and says, "Ma’am, I don’t mean to be rude, but something REALLY stinks."  The look of shock registers on my face and he says, "I’m sorry, I just thought you might not know and you’d want to know."   The whole time he has his hand covering his nose.

Oh my gosh.

"Yes, yes, I know.  She went right before we got here…"

I turned beet red.  Heather is looking at me from behind the cart mouthing, "What is going on?"

I literally can not look the guy in the face.  He hurriedly says, "Today you’ve saved .49.  Thanks have a great night."

I hightail it out of there.  I don’t wait on Heather, I don’t even put my bags in a buggy.  I just pick it all up and go.

There goes my Mommy of the Year award.  Again.

Lexi turns Fwee

November 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today’s is Lexi’s third birthday and she says she’s fwee.  With Emma, I was excited for her to get a year older and even now, I’m excited she’ll be 5 in a few weeks.  But yesterday, I was holding on to my 2 year old.  There’s something about 3 that is decidedly not baby like.  She’s officially a preschooler and I have no more babies.

Part of me wants to shout yay!!  I’m done with babies.  But man, it went by so quickly.  My babies are already gone.  I have little girls now.

When I woke Lexi up this morning and told her it was her birthday, she hid her eyes under her arm like she was embarrassed.  And then Emma and S got here this morning and told her happy birthday and she started jumping up and down.

Mom called to tell her happy birthday and she said she was fwee and she wanted presents.  Nice.  Especially since I haven’t bought her any yet.  I was planning to do the whole shebang next weekend at Chuck E. Cheese’s but looks like we’re going to have to do a mini party today since she obviously "gets" that it’s her birthday.  And then it was Minnie’s birthday on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse this morning and that sort of sealed the deal.

At 3, Lexi is a hoot.  She is a big fan of her big sister and does really what Emma does.  Now Lexi can be in her own little world sometimes but pretty much, Emma and Lexi are attached at the hip.  I love that.  Lexi’s speech has really improved over the last year.  I think last year she was only saying a handful of words and now she says everything.  You can’t always understand her because she still switches up some letters but generally I don’t have to translate for her all the time.  She still says pour for four and pun for fun.  Things like that.  And when she tries to say things she knows she can’t say like bippity boppity boo, she just replaces it with some sort of intelligible phrase.

Lexi still can’t count very well.  She does 1, 2 and then skips to 6 and 4.  One time we were in the parking lot of Starbuck’s strapping her back in and she was able to count correctly to 6 or 7 with Heather.  There’s hope!  She sings along with the alphabet song now but can’t sing it herself that I know of.  For the longest time I’d try to sing it to her and she’d say Quit Singing!  She obviously doesn’t write any letters but I did get her to copy over an L last night.  She does know some of her shapes and definitely all her colors.  She has a great imagination and plays right alongside Emma.

I think she’s skipping all her academics for her physical prowess.  She’s a very active girl. She can bend and twist and jump and summersault and all that with the best of them.  I keep saying I need to put her in gymnastics.  I think she’s just a tad young for it after seeing completely refusing to participate at S’s party where they tried to give dance lessons.

What else to say about my Lexi?  She’s completely girl and she’s got some tomboy in her too.  I think if she was around boys more, she’d be a complete tomboy.  That is except for her hair that’s down to her waist now.  Couldn’t mistake that for a boy.  She’s my gorgeous little indian girl with olive skin, long brown hair and big brown eyes.  She’s independent and she knows what she wants.  I love her to death and although I’m sure she’ll turn into a wonderful woman, for right now, I’m holding tight to my little fwee year old.

Friday’s Feast

November 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Appetizer
How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season?

We usually end up spending $6-700 on gifts.

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good?

Last full episode was Grey’s and I just posted a blog on that.  I started watching The Office that I missed but didn’t finish.

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?

I really, really like my green walls.  I might go with a gold and tan color if I HAD to repaint.

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.

Seems like I’m always saying this or that should be invented but I never write my ideas down or I find that out that someone has already done it.

Dessert
List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season.

iPhone, iPhone, iPhone

J/K – sort of.  I would like all kinds of stuff but it’s never $20 things I want, they’re usually a couple hundred dollars.  Like I’d really like to replace my dishes with square white Pottery Barn ones.  I’d like a new stove.  I need a new chair in my living room.  I want curtains in my kitchen, living room and sunroom.  I want new sweaters/shirts from Ann Taylor.  I need some casual winter shoes.  I really want my kitchen floors and countertop done which is actually cheaper than a lot that I’ve mentioned.  New lighting in several rooms.  I need a coupon organizer.  I’d love a wireless keyboard.  An elliptical machine or someone to pay for my gym membership.

Yeah, so just give me a few thousand dollars and I’d be set.

On the real list is gift cards from Ann Taylor, Starbuck’s, iTunes or Target.

I’m free – at least for a little bit

November 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So today my Mom took off with the girls for their weekly Friday ritual around 11.  I had to go back into the office this afternoon for the meeting that was canceled 20 minutes before the meeting on Tuesday when I went in.  And what a bummer today was too because the meeting only lasted 20 minutes.  And that was a stretch.  Oh well.  It’s nice to get dressed up and get out of the house every once in awhile.

So when I got home this evening the kids were back but I think I spoke to soon about everyone being healthy around here.  Lexi’s had a slight fever since yesterday and as soon as I got home, she fell asleep while I rocked her in the recliner.  Scott went to work within 20 minutes of me being home.

Emma and I made pancakes and eggs for dinner since I forgot to put my roast in the crockpot this morning.  And she was so sweet.  She walks into the kitchen after we were done eating and says, "I love spending time with you."  Aw, melt my heart.

Well, my nephew called and was having a campfire and roasting hot dogs and wanted us to come over.  Since Lexi was still asleep and not feeling well, came and got Emma and will be bringing her back later.

Scott cleaned the bathrooms today (we won’t discuss how I managed to get him to do that, but it’s probably not hard to guess…sorry, Heather), did the dishes and even folded laundry while I was at work.  So my house is on the way to being clean.  So here I am in a quiet, dark, somewhat clean house blogging.  Ah, the life.

The girls will be staying at home tonight instead of going to MILs like normal.  Our choir is hosting a yard sale and church tomorrow and MIL has to be there at 6.  She’s going to come get the kids around 10 and take the kids so then I can go help with the yard sale.

Tomorrow is also Lexi’s 3rd birthday and since we have the party planned for next weekend and Scott is working again tomorrow night, I’m not sure if we’re really doing anything tomorrow.  So, no plans for the weekend really unlike the past few and I think I’m just fine with that.

Just dorky enough to enjoy these

And no, I have a PC, not a Mac. But the Mac boy is oh so cute. Thanks to WebbAlert for these.

Rap about Mac or PC.  It’s way too long but cute for a few seconds.

I could sit and watch all of these.  They crack me up and he’s so cute!

That’s right PC!

Gotta love you some Linux.  Especially since most of our little blogs are sitting on it.

Grey’s Anatomy November 1, 2007

November 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m not a big fan of tonight’s episode.  Not enough STUFF happened.  Here are my very random thoughts…

George and Izzie are just weird together.  They looked like brother and sister lying in bed together and it was just weird.  At best, it reminded me of the days when her and Meredith would collapse in George’s bed at the end of a day and they were all friends.  Now it’s just weird.  I just didn’t even want to see them kiss much less have hot s-e-x.  It was just weird.

Dr. Hahn HAS to go.  I do not like her.  And I heard a rumor that her and McDreamy might get together and THAT IS NOT OK.

Alex and Lexie?  Really now?  I really want Alex and Izzie but I could handle Alex and Lexie.

Meredith was weird in this episode.  I couldn’t quite figure out what her issue was.  I think she wanted a moment of clarity back to be able to completely give herself to McDreamy but she couldn’t so she wanted to let go but then she wasn’t ready.  I think.

Christina needs a man.  Her and heart husband are getting old.

The wedding dress thing was sorta desperate but I’m glad that George let go first.

The one great moment of the episode is when Callie tells George she’s letting him go.  Hallelujah, no more George and Callie.

I think Callie and Mark should get together.  Or maybe Christina and Mark.

Anyway, looking forward to a better episode next week.  This season is sort of hit and miss, huh?

Giveaway Countdown

November 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Because I simply can not wait, I will be doing the drawing in the morning for the gift card.  I really wish I would have made it more complicated than simply clicking a few buttons in Excel to pick the winner.  Maybe I’ll come up with something just as fair and yet more exciting before the morning.  Nah, probably won’t.

But I still can’t wait!!!  Right now, there are 317 entries and that still shocks me!  I guess finally I get something right in the blogosphere.

I’ll probably be doing the announcement around 9am EST tomorrow so check back to see the lucky winner!
