The rundown

October 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So our big system implementation that got postponed the Friday before last is going on as we speak.  I have had 3 issues, 2 of them have been resolved.  And now I’m waiting on a system administrator to call me before I can fix the last one.  Hence, I’m bored at work once again.  So, here’s the rambling….

Have I mentioned we’re going to Maryland in the morning?

I haven’t packed a single thing

I did wash all of our clothes this weekend though

Scott has to work so he isn’t going

We’ll be gone from Thursday to Sunday or Monday

My Mom and Dad originally going by themselves

It’s my mom’s high school reunion this weekend

But two weeks ago my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer

And yesterday had surgery

This surgery was successful

But she opted to not have a full masectomy even though now she has a higher chance of reocurrence and will probably need chemo/radiation

I’m not that happy about

So I’m going this weekend to make a visit to her and also to have a vacation because my company has Monday off anyway

Yesterday I cancelled band practice because I had the kids, I’m not at church tonight and the guitar player had a job interview

I’m missing a really great speaker tonight at youth

I hope everything is running fine without me…the band, the video, the video recording, the powerpoints.

I need to teach people how to do all that so I don’t have to

I met Melissa at Starbuck’s last night and we chatted for over 2 hours

I had a great time

We should do that more often

My implementation is having more issues…gotta go

So we had a person at work today that emailed a very large distribution list…like probably a hundred or several hundred people on it.  Apparently the list was alot large than it needed to be and several people kept emailing the entire list to say they wanted removed from the list.  People start emailing the entire list to say quit emailing the entire list.  One guy finally emails this to the entire list.

email

That is HI-larious!  I find it so humorous today that I email the guy back (not the entire list) and say, “THAT was hilarious.”

His email back?

second email

That rocks.

Goodbye, car seat

October 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Multimedia message

Finally, Emma has made it to 40 lbs.  And in the great state of South Carolina, that means she gets to use a regular seatbelt in a booster seat.  And for the record, she’ll stay like that until she is at least 80 lbs or her legs fold over the edge of the seat–yes, I am a Trooper’s wife and we obey this law to these laws to the letter.  Or number in this case.  Scott WOULD NOT let her use the regular seatbelt until our scale said 40.0.  So no more five point harness mess every single time she gets in and out of the car.  It’s been almost five years coming and the way I figure it, I probably have buckled or unbuckled her at least 5,000 times if I’m being conservative.  Great for me and she is SO excited about it.  See that grin??

Scott put in her new booster seat last night.  This morning Scott says she unbuckled herself when she got to the school parking lot but then insisted she "had to buckle up".  Scott said when the teacher came to get her out, she made sure she had eye contact from her and unbuckled herself.  She was so proud she had a big girl seat and could do it all herself!  Aw!

Works for Me Wednesday

October 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Ok so this week instead of handing out suggestions of what works for us, we’re supposed to ask for help on an issue.

And what has me baffled as of late is how are people monetizing their blogs?  What sites do you use?  What works for you (ah-ha!) and what doesn’t?

What are your top performers and your lowest?

I’m not into it for another full-time job but a little extra income would be nice.  So tell me what works for you!

Delurk, I say!

Actually, Schmutzie said it.  I’ve never had much success with this one, but I’d love to hear from you if you read here on any regular or irregular basis.

Taking Action

October 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So I’ve decided to take the jump and do some paid posts and remove BlogHer.  It just didn’t make sense with the traffic I get to try to make money through BlogHer.  It’s a great, great place but my intent was to generate income and it just wasn’t working for me.

So.  You’ll be seeing some paid posts on here.  I’m going to make every effort to incorporate them into the blog to make them mine and not just an advertisement that has nothing to do with me.

I’m planning on removing the paid posts from my feed and like I said, hopefully the ones that are on here won’t be too farfetched.

Hear me roar

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Ok, not really.  You actually are going to hear me almost whisper singing a song.  Some people have asked to hear a clip of me singing.  And then I found a new song by Casting Crowns that I absolutely love and can halfway sing.  It’s called Somewhere In the Middle.

Somewhere between the hot and the cold
Somewhere between the new and the old
Somewhere between who I am and who I used to be
Somewhere in the middle, You’ll find me
Somewhere between the wrong and the right
Somewhere between the darkness and the light
Somewhere between who I was and who You’re making me
Somewhere in the middle, You’ll find me

Just how close can I get, Lord, to my surrender without losing all control

Fearless warriors in a picket fence, reckless abandon wrapped in common sense
Deep water faith in the shallow end and we are caught in the middle
With eyes wide open to the differences, the God we want and the God who is
But will we trade our dreams for His or are we caught in the middle
Are we caught in the middle

Somewhere between my heart and my hands
Somewhere between my faith and my plans
Somewhere between the safety of the boat and the crashing waves
Somewhere between a whisper and a roar
Somewhere between the altar and the door
Somewhere between contented peace and always wanting more
Somewhere in the middle You’ll find me

Just how close can I get, Lord, to my surrender without losing all control

Lord, I feel You in this place and I know You’re by my side
Loving me even on these nights when I’m caught in the middle

Be kind.  I know I need to sing out more.  And you only get the first verse.  Try to think Alison Krauss when I’m singing.  hahaha.

The Hills October 1 Episode

October 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Please read this as a valley girl had written it as I’m not sure it will come out any other way.

Wow, just when you didn’t think it couldn’t get better, Elodie gets sweet revenge.  Just for the record, I don’t condone revenge, but if you’re going to do it, this is the way to go!  Heidi tells her boss–who just gave her a promotion she just had to have and stole from Elodie–that she has her “anniversary” to attend and can’t work.  Seriously?  If that was the reason I was asking off for work, I surely wouldn’t just say it like “It’s my anniversary tomorrow.”  and then pause to wait for my boss to go “OHHH, you shouldn’t be working, bless your heart, you should be celebrating.”  It’s their freakin’ dating anniversary..they aren’t even married yet!  And while we celebrated that while dating too, I never, ever, ever took off work for that.  That’s so silly.

So of course who does Heidi ask to cover for her?  Elodie.  And to my surprise Elodie accepts.  I was like whaa?? And then Heather says, “I bet she doesn’t show up.”  I was like “Ohhh.  That would be GREAT.”

So then we see Spencer has gone “all out” and put a candle and some flowers on the same freakin table in the same freakin Mexican restaurant.  This.  This is what she took off work for??  Really?  And then we wait.  Wait for that phone call.  And it happens.  Yes!  You know Elodie has left her high and dry.  Heidi’s all “What? It’s a mess?  Elodie’s not there?  What?  Elodie quit yesterday? I’ll be right there.”  Yes!  Elodie completes her revenge and what does our lovely Spencer say, “You don’t love me.”  Wow, Happy Anniversary, Heidi.  THAT’S the jerk you’re marrying.

Sorry, do I seem a little bitter?  Yeah, I think I am actually.

As for Lauren…this is all I’ve got…Brody and Lauren sittin’ in a tree.  K.I.S.S.I.N.G.

OK, not actually all I’ve got.  They’re really cute together.  And while we all wish Jason wasn’t the jerk he is because Lauren is so darn cute with him, Brody seems to fit the bill for now.

Can we talk about Justin Bobby for a moment?  Scott actually had me rewind The Hills so he could take a look at him again while they were going into the hotel room.  He is convinced Justin Bobby was wiping his nose for reasons other than a runny nose.  Yeah.  I certainly don’t want to be spreading rumors about that but come on?  Have you watched Justin Bobby?  The whole gangster hood thing going on should cause you to pause.  I don’t get why Audrina stays with him.  She sure took offense to her friends trying to say “I just wish he’d be polite and say hello”.  Look girls, if ALL your friends don’t like your boyfriend, THERE’S A REASON!
