today

June 29, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today was work, pool, VBS.  That’s about it.  I took Lexi to VBS thinking I’d take the pictures I needed and go home if she was acting clingy but as soon as I sat down with her in the sanctuary, she fell asleep and stayed asleep until 8.  So I got everything done and stayed until Emma was done at 8:30.

MIL called tonight and she’s going to get the girls tomorrow morning.  I’m going to try to clean tonight so I can spend all day doing my own thing tomorrow.  Yahoo!

something new

June 28, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Finally, my day went a little differently.  Well, to start with this morning I found a second lump on the back of my neck after finding the second one last night.  After a quick google search saying it may be lymphoma, a family friend recently being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s and with the history of cancer in my family, both Scott and I felt the need for me to take a visit to the doctor right away.  I went right before lunch and was there for just a few minutes thankfully after he said the knots were “firm and rubbery” instead of “hard like a rock”.  Yeah, talking about lumps in my neck, people.  Stay focused!  So he said he could put me on antibiotics because it was most likely an infection of some sort.  I’m supposed to just make sure they don’t change a great deal.

So at lunch we ran out to McDonald’s.  I was SO not in the mood for it but Wendy’s line was a mile long inside and out.  After work we got in the pool until it was VBS time.

Lexi and I decided to play hooky (sp?) from VBS.  She’s pretty over it and I was too.  Scott went early to help and I took Emma to the church.  Lexi fell asleep on the way home so Heather and I watched Daddy’s Little Girls until 7ish when we woke Lexi up to go to Longhorn’s for dinner.  We were running pretty late to go pick up Emma but made it 15 minutes after VBS ended and MIL and SIL were staying with Emma.  Scott apparently was breaking up fights all night.  I haven’t gotten the full details on that but I think everyone eventually calmed down.

Scott worked on the deck this morning while L was here.  The big part of the deck is done so just the small part to go.  He has to work this weekend so who knows when it will get done.  I have no plans for this weekend except the last night of VBS is tomorrow and Sunday they’re having a “tail-gate family night” of VBS after church on Sunday.

Pete and Repeat were in a boat

June 27, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Same thing for today, work and VBS.  I did manage to go to the gym in between and she worked me until I couldn’t even hold my head back in the shower to rinse my hair.  Not good when you still have 2 1/2 hours of running around to do.  Not sure I’ll do that again tomorrow afternoon or not.

The Shooter

June 27, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Mmm, add me some Marky Mark to my fake boyfriend list.  I liked him when I was 12 and apparently still do at 28!  Oh, this is a movie review.  Yes, the movie was good.  Really good actually.  Mark did well playing this role.  His menacing stare and athletic build lended well to a military rebel type of role.  His words were few in the movie but the acting was still well carried out.  The plot was a little too easy to figure out. Even *I* didn’t have to ask questions about what was going on.  The clues about his friend’s girlfriend almost seemed like an afterthought just so the plot would work and they could weave in even a small romance.  And that was disappointing as well.  Not even a kiss!  I did like the meeting at the end, didn’t really go like I thought it would which is a good thing.  The rest of the movie was a little predictable.  It’s definitely a shoot ’em up movie with a hollywood star at the helm and his pretty girlfriend supporting him but I’m such a sucker, I loved it.  In fact, I plan to keep it long enough for Scott to watch it and I’m looking forward to seeing it again.

Scott update

June 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So I haven’t mentioned all the stuff going on at Scott’s job recently.  They want him to take over the CRO job that is coming available at some point soon.  That is the person who talks to the media when there is wreck and goes and talks to the schools and such.  Apparently his supervisors think he’d be the best at it but also don’t want to lose his activity on the road.  And if he does take it, it’s M-F 9-5 kind of job and then on-call after hours for the state with other CROs around the state.  So that would really stink for my job.  I wouldn’t have the help he provides, especially when I need to go into the office every so often.  Either way, I think Scott is going to turn it down.  He doesn’t want to go off the road yet.

In other news, someone else on his shift was given an unmarked car.  Someone who doesn’t deserve it as much (even the guy admitted) but for some reason the supervisors felt like they had other plans for Scott and didn’t give it to him. It may have been the CRO position.  Not sure yet.  But Scott and the guy that got it are really good friends and they are fine with each other but that’s all the drama rolling around right now.

Impending Drama

June 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Ya’ll, I feel it coming on again.  We had some drama within our youth group last year.  And now, things are brewing again.  I don’t really want to go into details because really, who knows who reads this but please pray that it works out ok.  Things could get really, really bad if it goes wrong.  Best case, it will blow over but I’m guessing at least something will happen and if it does, I will NOT be a happy camper.

Repeat

June 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

In a lot of ways today was a repeat of yesterday.  L did come today from about 10-2 yay!  After VBS we went to Blockbuster and they watched their movies for about 30 minutes when we got home and now they are tucked in Emma’s bed.  This is becoming a habit that I’m not sure is good or not.  They do really good together and go right to sleep.  I think it’s sweet for now.  Hopefully it won’t backfire on me.  What would be nice is to give them our queen and have them share a room, us get a king size bed and then make Lexi’s room a playroom or office.

Anyway, VBS was good.  Much less chaotic than last night.  We are picking up kids in a few neighborhoods around town and we have about 60 extra kids no one really knows and they don’t know our church so it made for a confusing first night.  Most of them seemed to settle in tonight though.  My job got hectic though.  Last night I spent time wandering around taking pictures most of the night but tonight I was tasked with getting an individual picture of all ~120 kids.  Yeah, that was fun.  So I was quite busy tonight.

Now I’m home.  Working a little, surfing the Internet a little.  I got Mark Wahlberg’s new DVD Shooter from Blockbuster tonight.  Not sure if I’ll stay up or not.  I drank a Mountain Dew at church tonight so I guess I’ll be up whether I want to or not.
