Blah

December 26, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Kind of a blah day today.  Kids had cabin fever I think.  But I mentioned to Emma going to get McD’s for lunch and it was a no-go.  But I heard a lot of whining and saw a lot of pouting.  Up until about 2 weeks ago Lexi was getting pretty good at these pouting spells where she would go in the kitchen and lay down on the rug and get on her knees and put her head down on the ground and pout.  I have been trying to put a stop to that recently (yes, we spank after they get explained why they are getting spanked, not just random swatting).  She starts to get down on her knee now and I say, Lexi, don’t you lay down and pout and she gets up real quick.  She usually continues to cry some but at least she’s not throwing herself down places and crying.

When Scott got home from work I took off to the gym and he took the kids to his Mom’s for dinner after Lexi woke up from her nap.  She was still down when I left.  They are supposed to be bringing me some food home.  So the house is really quiet now.  I straightened up a little but now I just want to lay down somewhere.  But I always feel like I have to be doing something when the kids are not here.  Like I need to take advantage of the house being empty to do some chore I always say I can’t do when they are here.  Right now I think that might hanging Emma’s clothes up.  Ugh, I’m going, I’m going…

chatty

December 26, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m in a chatty, good mood and I need to chat here for a bit.  Number one, I have to say I love Nelly Furtado’s new song Say It Right.  Especially after reading the words.  At the end, you’re like woah, that’s hot.  And also Lips of an Angel is on my top playlist in iTunes.  And can I just say I LOVE my new iPod.  I know it’s already obsolete at only 1GB and no video but I really like it.  I assume I’ll be upgrading within the next year, even if I have to wait until next Christmas.  And I love the armband I got.  I used it last night while I was putting clean clothes up and it was GREAT.  Gave me some incentive to clean up and it stayed on quite nicely.  And last night I watched the bonus features on my GA DVD.  It had a bunch of deleted scenes and some were totally funny and completely unnecessary but they would have been cute to see.  And some you were like, woah, I didn’t know he felt that way.  I was a little disappointed that almost all of the extras revolved around the actors who played the chief and Addison and some with Alex.  Where is Derek and Meredith and Burke and Christina??  I mean, come on.  Everyone has a part in the show, but they are clearly the stars.  I wish at least one of the features would have involved them.  But no.  Scott is working today.  And unlike yesterday, he is not able to stay at home.  Which is a bummer.  The good news is I don’t have ANYthing to return so no need to rush out to the stores today.  And Scott bought a snow globe thing and projector for the yard on Sunday night at KMart.  So no need to rush out for that.  Although I would like to buy a prelit tree on sale.  But I’m guessing they are sold out by even now.  So there is very, very little to do at work.  The company always puts a hold on anything we can implement until mid January so this is a very slow time of the year for everyone in IT.  OK, I think that is all for now.  Well, except I’m staring at my, I mean, uh, Scott’s new coffee maker and I really want coffee.  So maybe that’s what I’ll do now.  That is all, you may go.  That line was on a movie or tv show once and said I think in a Russian accent or something.  Oh, Ugly Betty with a client.  And Heather was over here and I was trying to mock here and I did really good the first few times and then was really bad.  But it was funny because I said I was going to use that all the time.  So that is all, you may go. lol

Nice Christmas

December 26, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So Christmas at Mom’s house was really nice last night.  She had dinner ready for us when we got there.  The kids weren’t interested in eating, just playing, which was actually made for an easy, quiet dinner.  I’m really excited about the gifts I got and what Scott got because it benefits me too :).  We got our sheets for our bed, Grey’s Anatomy Season 2 on DVD (yay!), Mom made me my roman shades for my room, a set of cute washcloths, ornaments and Heather bought me a trivet with the girls’ picture on it and an Easy button from Staples (which I would never spend my $5 on-it was funny).  And Scott got a coffee maker and a set of 3 cordless phones which we needed really bad.  Our cordless in the kitchen you have to get a workout to push the On and 2 button.  Heather said she bought more for her than us lol.  So it was a nice evening.  Emma and Joy played her new Memory game with Heather.  Lexi and I laid up in Mom’s bed and watched Robots eating cheese and crackers until Scott said he was too tired and needed to go home.  And can I mention that was at 8:30pm ;).

Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Merry Christmas, everyone!

So Scott works today.  He had to work today but he’s been home all day since 8am.  Right now he’s out working a wreck though.  Mom and Dad came over this morning and watched the girls open some of their presents.  Scott’s parents came over at lunch to see what they got.  His sister and family are coming over now because we forgot to give BIL his present.  After Lexi wakes up we should be going to Mom’s house to open up what they got us.

So this weekend has gone by really quick. Friday night we went to eat with Heather at Moe’s.  Then the girls headed off to MIL’s to spend the night and Scott and I finished up the last bit of shopping we had to do at Wal-Mart.  That is definitely the latest I’ve ever waited to do my shopping.  So Saturday I cleaned all morning.  Saturday night we ended up painting Emma’s room blue.  She was so excited.  It’s the exact light blue in Cinderella’s dress.  She loves it.  I’m not sure I can get used to it.  It’s so bright.  I usually like a lot of color, but a darker, warmer color.  This is a very cool color.  Very bright.  I think it might hurt my eyes.  But it’s a very pretty blue color.  And Emma loves it.  I’m just glad it’s not in my room.  So last night we spent Christmas Even at his parents exchanging presents.  I got money from his parents and lingerie from his sister.  Which I was really surprised but it fit perfect and it was really cute (it was a long nightgown and matching robe).  Emma and Lexi got a ton of presents.  The biggest being Diego’s rescue center.  Their “big” gifts from us is the Dora 4-wheeler and Barbie laptop. They also got a lot more Diego and Dora and Barbie stuff and a ton of clothes we bought in Maryland last weekend.

Boy found

December 21, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Just an update…a deputy found our teenage friend in Georgia at a rest stop with his girlfriend.  They gave up easy and are in custody.  The whole family is headed down there.  Thank the Lord no one was hurt and please continue to pray for his future.

Not good, not good at all

December 21, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

We got news last night at the Cotillion that a family friend’s teenage son had run away with a girlfriend and a gun in his dad’s truck.  Last we heard, he had made it to Georgia and robbed a BP.  He is still “on the loose”.  He is only 14.   I am in absolute shock.  This is a GOOD kid.  Homeschooled.  Quiet.  Obedient.  Never in trouble.  Preppy.  Good looking.  Nice dresser.  Just NOTHING that would lead you to think he could do ANYTHING of this magnitude.  The detective this morning said they are probably no longer in the area.  Who knows where they are.  We are praying that he doesn’t do anything that will cause him to get himself hurt when the police finally do catch up to him.

More Christmas Parties

December 21, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Gah, ok, I ended up at another work party yesterday around 2:30.  MIL usually picks the girls up but she was going to late so I took them to Scott’s gm’s.  They had food and a white elephant exchange.  Apparently I missed all the entertainment at the after party but it was decent.  Good to see everyone at work.  Sometimes I feel so isolated working from home.

So then we also had our youth Christmas cotillion last night.  It went well…food, white elephant exchage and some karoke.  We kinda ran out of time and only got 3 songs in before people’s parents started showing up.  I wore a dress from a work Christmas party 5 years ago that no one ever really saw me in.  It was a tad outdated, nothing I would buy now but it was nice enough.  None of the youth were looking at me, it was more about them so I wasn’t concerned–gah, I’ve turned into a chaperone!

So I think we’re done with typical parties.  We’re having some family/friends over tonight and then that’s all until our normal family stuff Christmas Eve/Christmas.  Thank goodness, it’s been a whirlwind this season.

We’re back

December 20, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, sorry for the lack of posts.  As I said, work was entirely crazy up until the minute we left last week.  Then we left for Maryland on Thursday afternoon, right after my work Christmas party.  We just got back last evening.

The visit was good, kinda boring, but good to get away.  We basically shopped and slept the whole weekend when we weren’t with family.  Saturday night we had dinner with Dad’s family.  Sunday afternoon dinner was with my mom’s family and then Sunday evening we went to my grandfather’s house.  The kids were GREAT in the car.  I really don’t know what we would do without the DVD player.  It was one movie after another.  But whatever, we had 8 hours of almost complete silence on the way home and what else could you ask for?

Lexi did something really cute yesterday at the gas station on the way home.  She picked out a sucker (which she loves them) for herself and she went to get another one and I thought she was getting two for herself and she took the other one to Emma and said here Emma!  It was so sweet to see her think of her big sister.

This morning the girls had their Christmas program at school.  This little boy played with Lexi’s hair for several minutes and we could NOT believe it.  She HATES when people mess with her hair.  But she didn’t even flinch until his little fingers got caught in it and you could see her mouth OUCH and she swatted him away.  But then he started right back up and she didn’t stop him.  It was the funniest thing ever and I got it on film.  I couldn’t believe how still Lexi was for the thing.  She stood and sat when told to, didn’t cry and was just great.  Emma on the other hand did not sing and ended up crying at the end.  She said she was upset because she didn’t know the song but we only missed one day of school for the practice.  I don’t know, I feel bad because she was so looking forward to their singing.

So it took all weekend to download the latest Office episode that I’m on–The Merger.  But today I’m watching The Convict and will then be able to get to the Christmas one for this year.  Yay!  Well, technically, I never got Season 2 Disc 2 so I still have a little catching up to do.  I so do not like Jim dating this girl.  It’s such a bummer.  And she’s so gorgeous.  Blah.
