Thank you, lungs

January 31, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Thank you, lungs, for realizing you CAN let the mucus go.  It’s ok, really, you’ll be better without it.

I can’t remember last time I’ve coughed so much.  My abs actually hurt from coughing so much.  And what’s worse is most of the coughing is unproductive.  I had to sleep in yesterday because I was so tired and worn out from coughing through the night.  But last night, except for getting up at 3am for the dog I slept the entire night and don’t remember coughing at all.  This morning I’m coughing but they seem to be productive.

what up

January 29, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m sick.  Blah.  Got whatever the girls had.  Been coughing up, or trying to, my lungs and came down with a fever yesterday.

So Friday night the kids were at MIL’s and Scott was working and I stayed up until FOUR AM watching One Tree Hill DVDs.

Saturday we went through the pain of getting our family picture taken.  Scott and I didn’t get up until noon.  MIL apparently wasn’t going to bring the girls home so I had to load up all the girls stuff and plan to get them ready over at their house.  But we get over there and Lexi is asleep.  Nice.  No one’s fault but frustrating all the same.  Lexi woke up long enough to get her picture taken with red eyes and all.  Oh well, it was a free sitting and we get a free 10×13 so really no loss.

Saturday afternoon C&D came over with E.  He is finally starting to seem like a little baby boy.  He smiles now and talks and even sits up in his Bumbo seat.  He’s so cute.

Saturday night the girls and I went to Blockbuster and the grocery store and they spent most of the evening watching videos.  Sunday Emma stayed the day over at SILs and I thought I was coming home to put Lexi down for a nap, but no, she never went to sleep until 6 and only slept an hour and then woke up extremely cranky.  In the meantime, I had developed a fever and this horrible cough.

Today the kids are at school this morning, Scott’s sleeping off his last night of working nights.  And right now I really just want to cough up this lung I’ve been trying to cough up for a couple days.

drama

January 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

There is so much drama going on with our youth group.  Not really so much. Just two girls I know of that are stirring up trouble.  One of which I kind of expect it from and honestly I’m not sure if I care that she comes back or not.  She’s got her head set one way and I don’t think anyone can change her mind.  The other though we have put SO much energy into and she’s basically slapped us in the face.  At this point, she can just go.  But I know she will probably end up in a lot of trouble before long and I do care about her and don’t want that for her.  But if she can’t grow up just a little and make some apologies, I could probably live with myself if she left.

Good Sunday

January 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So yesterday we went to church but Emma was still sick so she co-taught my Sunday School class with me.  Seriously, she sat like a big girl in the folding chair beside me and did not move and only spoke like 3 sentences.  I think she was intimdated by the 8 9th graders but either way, she was a good girl.

I ended up watching some more One Tree Hill episodes before choir practice/church.  I had to teach the youth bible study last night since our youth pastor was out of town still.  I think it actually went well.  Much better than the trivia we did a few weeks ago where several youth ended up leaving early from.  I’m really starting to like this teaching though.  I end up learning so much more than what I actually teach and it’s good for me.

So after church, I finished up Season 2 Disc 1 of One Tree Hill.  So far I like season 1 better than season 2 but I know it’s probably a little slow since it’s the beginning of the season.

Work is still somewhat slow this week.  And S wants to work on the youth group’s web site this afternoon.  Not sure if I’m looking forward to that or not.  I have no problems updating a web site but coming up with an original design is hard for me.

On another note, I’ve been having a time with getting this week’s sermon converted to the podcast. Wednesday night’s live capture’s sound got messed up.  The second time I tried, the mpg wouldn’t convert to mp3 or m4p.    The third time I captured it, the sound dropped out half-way through.  I don’t know. So far, this thing has been a lot of work.  Trouble doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing, just I wish it was not so much trouble.  I’m supposed to go to the church tomorrow to test out the volume levels so we can capture it live.  Which I thought we did that last week so gah.

One Tree Hill

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So my sister has now got me hooked on One Tree Hill.  No one else is allowed to let me borrow their Season 1 DVDs!!  LOL.

So, yeah, they are now in Season 4 of One Tree Hill and I’m on Disc 5 of 6 of Season 1, each episode around 45-50 minutes.  Much more work than getting caught up on two seasons of The Office.

But it is SO good.  Heather was here until 2:30am Thursday night and midnight last night.  And I plan to catch a couple before bed tonight too.  Yes, it’s a show about high school and basketball players and cheerleaders at that, but still.  It’s more about friendships and relationships and it may not be the deepest show ever but I’m hooked anyway!

Most

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

While I was at the church waiting on our video to be captured to computer, I saw a copy of the short movie called Most.  I had never heard of it but our youth pastor seems to have good taste in movies so I popped in the 33 minute movie while I waited.  It was SO good.  I cried (which, btw, I’ve been doing quite a bit to shows lately–like Grey’s Anatomy this week) towards the end.  I came home to tell Scott about it and he says, oh, I’ve heard that story lots of times from pastors.  It’s a story of a father and son.  The father takes the boy to his work as a bridge operator.  The bridge is up for a boat and the train comes early.  The boy sees it and tries to put the bridge down and falls into the gears.  The father finally sees the train and chooses to put the bridge down to save all the people on the train all the while sacrificing his sons life.  While the train goes by, a young woman watches the man crying and he sees her.  Later on it shows him trying to find meaning in life without his son and he see the woman with a newborn.  The baby is smiling and they are both happy.  The father is now happy that although he sacrificed his son, it gave life to many more.  I’m not sure if it purposely was a metaphor for God and Jesus, but boy, the message came across to me like that.  I hope our youth pastor uses it.  It was amazing.

So-So Saturday

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So Emma is sick.  She’s had a fever off and on since Thursday I think.  She was the worst this morning.  Didn’t wake up until almost 11!  Actually, none of us woke up until almost 10 today which I think may be a first.  Late night at grandmas must have wiped them out.  And Heather and I have been staying up late catching up on One Tree Hill…more on that on another post I think…so I was plenty tired.  And Scott has been working nights so he can always use the sleep.

So today we stayed inside all day long.  Emma never even got dressed today.  We just changed pajamas this evening.  I mostly cleaned all day.  Scott’s parents came by for a bit this evening to see the girls.  And I went to the church twice to capture this week’s sermon on the computer…more on that in another post.

So pretty slow Saturday.  I’m such a home-body though so it wasn’t too bad.  Just nothing overly exciting to report!

The Office Rocks

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I can hardly stand how funny this show is.

“I miss Dwight.  Congratulations, Universe, you win.”  LOVE. IT.

I never thought one person could be more annoying/cheesy/immature as Michael Scott.  But, no, this Andy character is ANNOYING.  Micheal looked normal tonight.  Was Michael hiding behind the door not hilarious??  And I was SNORTING I was laughing so hard at that “cell phone device” ringing in the ceiling.

And wasn’t that the best “Yes.” from Jim ever?

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!
