Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Merry Christmas, everyone!

So Scott works today.  He had to work today but he’s been home all day since 8am.  Right now he’s out working a wreck though.  Mom and Dad came over this morning and watched the girls open some of their presents.  Scott’s parents came over at lunch to see what they got.  His sister and family are coming over now because we forgot to give BIL his present.  After Lexi wakes up we should be going to Mom’s house to open up what they got us.

So this weekend has gone by really quick. Friday night we went to eat with Heather at Moe’s.  Then the girls headed off to MIL’s to spend the night and Scott and I finished up the last bit of shopping we had to do at Wal-Mart.  That is definitely the latest I’ve ever waited to do my shopping.  So Saturday I cleaned all morning.  Saturday night we ended up painting Emma’s room blue.  She was so excited.  It’s the exact light blue in Cinderella’s dress.  She loves it.  I’m not sure I can get used to it.  It’s so bright.  I usually like a lot of color, but a darker, warmer color.  This is a very cool color.  Very bright.  I think it might hurt my eyes.  But it’s a very pretty blue color.  And Emma loves it.  I’m just glad it’s not in my room.  So last night we spent Christmas Even at his parents exchanging presents.  I got money from his parents and lingerie from his sister.  Which I was really surprised but it fit perfect and it was really cute (it was a long nightgown and matching robe).  Emma and Lexi got a ton of presents.  The biggest being Diego’s rescue center.  Their “big” gifts from us is the Dora 4-wheeler and Barbie laptop. They also got a lot more Diego and Dora and Barbie stuff and a ton of clothes we bought in Maryland last weekend.

More Christmas Parties

December 21, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

Gah, ok, I ended up at another work party yesterday around 2:30.  MIL usually picks the girls up but she was going to late so I took them to Scott’s gm’s.  They had food and a white elephant exchange.  Apparently I missed all the entertainment at the after party but it was decent.  Good to see everyone at work.  Sometimes I feel so isolated working from home.

So then we also had our youth Christmas cotillion last night.  It went well…food, white elephant exchage and some karoke.  We kinda ran out of time and only got 3 songs in before people’s parents started showing up.  I wore a dress from a work Christmas party 5 years ago that no one ever really saw me in.  It was a tad outdated, nothing I would buy now but it was nice enough.  None of the youth were looking at me, it was more about them so I wasn’t concerned–gah, I’ve turned into a chaperone!

So I think we’re done with typical parties.  We’re having some family/friends over tonight and then that’s all until our normal family stuff Christmas Eve/Christmas.  Thank goodness, it’s been a whirlwind this season.

We’re back

December 20, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, sorry for the lack of posts.  As I said, work was entirely crazy up until the minute we left last week.  Then we left for Maryland on Thursday afternoon, right after my work Christmas party.  We just got back last evening.

The visit was good, kinda boring, but good to get away.  We basically shopped and slept the whole weekend when we weren’t with family.  Saturday night we had dinner with Dad’s family.  Sunday afternoon dinner was with my mom’s family and then Sunday evening we went to my grandfather’s house.  The kids were GREAT in the car.  I really don’t know what we would do without the DVD player.  It was one movie after another.  But whatever, we had 8 hours of almost complete silence on the way home and what else could you ask for?

Lexi did something really cute yesterday at the gas station on the way home.  She picked out a sucker (which she loves them) for herself and she went to get another one and I thought she was getting two for herself and she took the other one to Emma and said here Emma!  It was so sweet to see her think of her big sister.

This morning the girls had their Christmas program at school.  This little boy played with Lexi’s hair for several minutes and we could NOT believe it.  She HATES when people mess with her hair.  But she didn’t even flinch until his little fingers got caught in it and you could see her mouth OUCH and she swatted him away.  But then he started right back up and she didn’t stop him.  It was the funniest thing ever and I got it on film.  I couldn’t believe how still Lexi was for the thing.  She stood and sat when told to, didn’t cry and was just great.  Emma on the other hand did not sing and ended up crying at the end.  She said she was upset because she didn’t know the song but we only missed one day of school for the practice.  I don’t know, I feel bad because she was so looking forward to their singing.

So it took all weekend to download the latest Office episode that I’m on–The Merger.  But today I’m watching The Convict and will then be able to get to the Christmas one for this year.  Yay!  Well, technically, I never got Season 2 Disc 2 so I still have a little catching up to do.  I so do not like Jim dating this girl.  It’s such a bummer.  And she’s so gorgeous.  Blah.

Where have I been?  Working my little hiney off.  Didn’t get home until 11:45 on Friday night, worked 2 hours on Saturday.  Cleaned out the girls closets Saturday.  Went to Scott’s gm’s Christmas dinner Sunday night.  Worked 10 hours yesterday.  Watched Disk 4 of The Office Season 2 last night.  And here I am working again.  Having D&D and J&W over tonight for a Christmas dinner.

I have to comment on one The Office that cracked me up…on Conflict Resolution when Michael made Dwight and Jim go through all of his complaints and they get to them where he said he hit his head.  And then Jim’s explanation of how he did that with the coins in the phone.  That was SO funny I was laughing hysterically by myself.  And of course Season 2 finale…poor Jim…he CRIED.  I so want them to be together except you wouldn’t have any of that fun tension between them…like after he told her he liked her.

The Office -harrassment

December 7, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, so I know I’m only a year behind, but I have to share this particular deleted scene from the Sexual Harrassment episode of The Office (I am so loving this show, if you can’t tell)

P: You know sometimes when we IM and I send you that winking face with the lipstick? I realized that might be harrassment

J: Yes. It is harrassment. And I’ll be suing you. I’ve hired the angry face as my lawyer and you should be hearing from him pretty soon.

You see her go back to her desk and you hear that he IM’d her and she laughs because I assume he sent her the winking face.

Red Shirt

December 5, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So my sister doesn’t get off work until 8 on Mondays.  As I mentioned yesterday, Scott’s work party is tonight and I really wanted something new to wear to the party.  So I begged her to go to the mall last night which doesn’t close until 10 during the holidays.  So we left to crying babies at the front door and headed out.  I was really disappointed with a couple stores but this new store that they have in other malls in the area, Forever 21.  Very cheap prices.  They have these long dresses in there, sort of vintage-70’s type look.  Empire waist, long to the floor and flowy.  I bought one of them that will probably have to wait until spring to wear but I could see myself wearing that EVERY day.  It was so comfortable and really cute.

I finally found an acceptable shirt at Express and they had their jeans on sale AND I had a $15 off coupon.  So even though I still left the store with a $75 bill, I do feel better that both of them were on sale.  My shirt is just red, v-neck, satin shirt with a empire waist and a tie around the back.  Hopefully my white pants are not at the cleaners and I can wear those and black shoes and a black necklace to dress it up a little.

So yay!  I get to dress up and go out tonight!

The end of last week and the weekend seemed busy.  I worked over on Thursday and Friday and in the evening Scott and I were having, uh, issues. I don’t really want to go into them but they weren’t fun and I was not happy.  We have worked through our issues over the weekend and while it’s not a non-issue yet, we have made steps to make it better.

Friday night the girls stayed with MIL and Saturday we woke up just in time to get up and go to the town parade. I’m not sure if I wrote about it last year but I complained about the parade last year.  It was so ridiculously short–like 8 minutes long.  The band was in jeans and t-shirts and it was just pathetic.  My article was actually published in the paper.  So I sort of HAD to go to the parade.  Especially since Emma was actually IN the parade this year.  She rode with my SIL and niece in the rescue squad suburban.  She seemed to have a good time.  But the parade was SO long with 99 entries and lasting 1 hour and 10 minutes.  Yeah.  So I don’t know if anyone read my article last year but it I’d like to think it helped.  It wa actually overwhelmingly long.  Even Mrs. South Carolina showed up.  All the local bands, girl/boy scout groups, rescue squads, fire stations, and even lots of businesses.  It was really great.

So Saturday night we went to Jaynee’s Christmas party.  We didn’t know if we would go to the last minute.  I didn’t want to ask MIL to keep them since they had had them the past 24 hours and my mom and sister were working on their work party that was Sunday night.  I was going to go solo but MIL heard Scott and I talking about it at Target and volunteered to keep them, so we took advantage of it.  We had a good time.  The food was great and everyone seemed really nice.  I ended up with my own gift from the exchange but the gifts were slim pickins and I was next to last with only Scott’s gift left under the tree and my mugs being the only gift I wanted to steal so I went for it.  Scott ended up with a folksy-metal flower wall hanging which everyone laughed at but we now have hanging in the kids play room. Not sure what that means really but we think it’s cute.

Sunday was church as usual and also Mom’s Christmas party.  That was lots of good food too.  We left the girls there for about 1 1/2 hr while we went to a youth leaders meeting with the seniors in our group.  We had A LOT of fun.  They are old enough to pretty much be adults.  They only have 6 months left of high school but they are young enough to really let go still have fun.  I hope we get to go on the trip they are going on in Jan/Feb for the “top 15” (they earn points by attending, bringing friends, etc).

Last night we also caught up on a few Season 1 episodes from The Office that Jaynee let us borrow. I laughed.  A lot.  It’s a great tv show.  After 3 episodes in a row though it was a little much.  Only can handle so much of all that GREAT comedy he does lol.  I definitely plan to catch up on all the seasons and watch the current ones too.

So this week will be REALLY busy with work.  I have so much to do.  Friday is a HUGE implementation.  We’ve been working on this project for well, years.  Part of it was implemented back in September but we are basically having to redo that part to fix some issues and then do the second part also.  It’s going to be a long, arduous process this weekend.

Also this week is Scott’s work party tomorrow night.  I have no idea what I’m wearing but I’d REALLY like to buy something new.  We are also having a catillion with the youth group that is formal and I’d REALLY like to buy a new dress.  We’ll see though.  It seems like we are running out of time before Christmas.  Exactly 3 weeks left!  Unbelievable!!

Scott-less

November 29, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So it’s day 3 of Scott working all days.  I know this is normal for A LOT of people that their husbands work M-F all day but Scott hasn’t done that in years.  And none since I started working at home.  But really, it has been a great week.  I don’t know if my mom is praying a lot for us or I’ve prepared myself mentally (and organizationally) for this but it’s been great, really.  I don’t mind taking the kids to school.  They’ve been so well behaved at home.  No major messes to clean up.  No fighting.  Not even much whining.  But I’ve only had one conference call and Lexi was asleep then so that helps.  And I’ve gone to the gym both nights which has really helped get some energy out.  I’m sore, but it feels great.  I feel like I haven’t seen him much though since he’s gone all day and then I spend at least an hour gone in the evening.  He’s been so tired from getting up and he hasn’t slept well this week so we don’t even get time late at night together.  I am sure this will get old fast.  But for now, it’s good.
