Argh!! Why don’t people pay

March 1, 2004 by Amy

Argh!! Why don’t people pay for their items in a timely manner? I pay for my items just as soon as it closes. One person emailed me and said she was waiting to get her paypal set up correctly and then she was going to pay. Other than that, it doesn’t seem any invoice, payment reminder or email is making any impact on anyone. Geez.

Mom and Dad ended up visiting yesterday instead of Saturday. I went to a baby shower for two ladies in our Sunday School class. It kind of felt good to start to get “into” things again. I realized I didn’t know these girls too well, but if I was ever going to feel a part of the church, I’d just have to be a part of it, you know?

I am so excited it is getting warm again. Emma and I have a play date at the zoo scheduled with S&H tomorrow. I can’t wait for Emma to see the animals to see if she recognizes them like she does in her books.

Yesterday we had Emma outside just walking around. We have a certain path we always take to our apartment’s mailbox “hut” thingy. Emma loves to carry the keys and tries to open the mailbox. We let her “lead” yesterday while walking. She went straight on our path to the mailbox, which consists of down a sidewalk, through a courtyard, down another sidewalk around an apartment building, across a parking lot. Then she went around to the back of the “hut” and pointed directly at our mail slot!!! And then she looked at one of us, like, give me the keys! My mouth dropped. I could not believed she remembered all of that.

Boy, I had no idea

February 25, 2004 by Amy

Boy, I had no idea there would be so many questions for these ebay items. Measurements, shipping, etc. I guess that is a good sign people are looking at them.

Scott went and got his tag for his Jeep today. His property taxes were only $33! That’s compared to our car that’s 10 times that much. The sales tax on the car was a little more, but I’m glad to have it over with. I thought we were going to have to pay that on our income tax next year for some reason.

We are really busy at work but I’m really procrastinating. Working hard on one thing when I really should be putting my attention on another thing. Ugh! I hate testing!

I’ve gotten a couple responses

February 24, 2004 by Amy

I’ve gotten a couple responses to my ebay stuff. No bids though. I keep hoping everyone bids like crazy right before it ends tomorrow evening.

I’ve got a second customer too! My best friend’s parents moved out of their house to go work at a youth home and have filled my friend’s garage with STUFF. They are planning to have a yard sale in April, but she said there is so much stuff, she wants me to try to sell what I can on ebay for them. Yay! I think I already need a storage space just for this stuff because she is bringing me the first CAR LOAD this Friday. Yikes!

I think if I ever really need some business after this, I’m going to put flyers throughout the apartments. I can’t even imagine how much stuff I could sell for people who are in between houses. Plus, they are right in the same apartment complex, so technically, they could still store it wherever it is!

Emma got her right top cuspid two days ago. The other one was about out yesterday. Those two will make 14 teeth!!

AWWW! Emma got really smart

AWWW! Emma got really smart today and can now suddenly point to her nose and her head and when I point to her fish, she waves her hand back and forth like I have been doing. And then I also taught her to do a monkey move with her arm and when Scott was reading her a book with a monkey, she started doing it without any prompts for it. I about cried when I saw her do the fish move.

Her is a video of her doing the nose and head.

Emma will be 15 months

February 14, 2004 by Amy

Emma will be 15 months next week. I haven’t posted too much about her recently. Let me think of things about her now.

She still likes warm milk.
She doesn’t take a bottle.
She still takes a pacifier.
She rubs the top of her head when she’s sleepy and especially if she has her paci in her mouth.
She loves her animal books.
She likes to “give her baby a bottle”.
She likes to move things from one place to another. For example, she really liked to move the Wood Glue at Target to the cabinet shelf.
She can make a sound like a car, sometimes a cat, lion or cow.
She loves the Wiggles.
She likes to dance and does so by swaying back and forth and clapping her hands as fast as she goes. Recently she has been holding one hand still and patting it with the other.
She knows where to go if I say, go get a bath, go eat, go get your diaper change, we need to take Mattie out and do you want to go.
She doesn’t like taking naps in her crib and usually lays on the couch or our bed.
Recently she has been going down at night wide awake alone in her crib. (Lovin’ that)
She has no favorite stuffed animal or blanket.
She loves to color–with a pen or pencil, but not really crayons.
She doesn’t like to sit in high chairs too much, usually at some point meal she tries to stand up. At restaurants we’ve pretty much given up and let her stand beside one of us in a booth.
She goes to bed around 8 and wakes up about 7:30 (5:30 yesterday–yuck! and 8:30 this morning–yay!)
She loves to hold clothes on a hanger and loves even more to actually hang it up.
She loves playing with my hair products and especially likes taking the caps off. I have restricted her from the ones she can fit in her mouth.
She hates her diaper changed.
She loves cheese, vegetables (I think the order is carrots, peas, green beans, corn) and fruit (espcially bananas).
She likes all kinds of meat, but seems partial to fish and chicken.
She doesn’t like shoes or socks on.
She really likes no clothes on.
She hates her hair washed in the bath.
She loves to play in Mattie’s water.
She likes to go down the steps. She REALLY likes escalators.
She doesn’t like it in a stroller shopping. In fact, I can’t remember the last time we used it, or even farther in memory is when she stayed in it during an entire shopping trip.
She likes getting the pages as they come out of the printer.
She likes all electronics.
She hates her hair being messed with if you’re actually trying to fix it.
She doesn’t mind wearing hats.
She is starting to understand most of what I say although sometimes she stares at me when I’m repeating things to her like I’m stupid. I’m still wondering if she really knows what I’m saying or not.
She “plays chase” with Mattie. In reality, Emma is running and thinks Mattie is chasing her when really is very slowly walking around hoping that Emma will drop some food.

Ok, is that like 100 things about Emma?? Here is a recent picture. You can’t see her straight on, but I love her bending down to find a book.

Ok, did I call it

February 11, 2004 by Amy

Ok, did I call it or what? Ok, so so did 90% of the rest of America, but that’s not the point! Next week’s contestants didn’t look quite as good as this week’s but we’ll see.

Scott is working all weekend and Mom and Dad are coming to visit on Friday. My sister is coming Saturday afternoon and spending the night. Yeah! I get visitors all weekend! Scott and I really don’t have any plans since he is working. We might do something late Sat since we will have a built in babysitter!

I completely forgot to go help with AWANA at church tonight. Oops.

Scott had his big allergy appt today. He is allergic to almost everything he was tested for. Weeds, grasses, trees, dogs, cats, even cockroaches. We went and bought an air purifier, mattress and pillow covers. Mattie is restricted from the bedroom. I have to do the vaccumming and dusting that is “required” twice a week. Scott has to go get a cat scan Monday to see if he has a sinus infection since his polyps have not reduced as much as the dr. wanted. And, the kicker is he has to go on allergy shots for the next couple of years. Now this is the whole shabang. Scott obviously does not have to do any of this if he doesn’t want. I mean, the worse reaction he has is sneezing and a constant stuffy nose. But the way I look at it, a lot of these steps are just healthy for the rest of us and as far as the shots, there is a possibility he will reduce or eliminate his allergies completely if he does them then he does not have to worry about it at all and he will have a clear nose. This is all sort of old hat after living with my sister who has terrible allergies and has all kinds of effects from them. Growing up she could never have mushrooms, now her allergies have changed so that she is not allergic to mushrooms, but tomatoes, grapes, apples, wheat, corn, dust, trees, etc, etc. She is allergic to so much that she just has to deal with the consequences or she would not be able to live. And she does have bad reactions. She has a somewhat rare condition where if she is having an allergic reaction and scratches herself, she welts up and looks like someone has beat her. She also gets really bad “stomach” problems when she eats something she’s not supposed to. So, a stuffed up nosed to Scott seems minor.

I had a dream last

February 10, 2004 by Amy

I had a dream last night that I was going to marry my uncle. This is my dad’s sister’s husband who is much older than even her. They have a 16 year old daughter too. Scott and I were dating and for some reason everyone thought I needed a place to go to be taken care of. And my uncle for some reason had taken a liking to me, but for some reason, it wasn’t gross and he wanted to share his house which in the dream was really cool. The bottom of the house had been turned into a mini-theater and they had a pool. For some reason, that was really cool until I just typed that. I was debating whether I should marry him or not. I was talking it through with my family and we decided that it would be weird if I was my cousin’s step mom and that oh yeah, he’s already married and he can’t get married to me too unless we moved to Utah. There was some more “rationalizations” of why I couldn’t marry him and when I finally made my decision I calmly told my aunt why and she was proud of me for thinking it out so well. So I went into a Wal-Mart type store looking for Scott to tell him and he was in a rage, was wanting to fight with someone over something completely different and then for some reason, it was more like a mall and we got pulled into a jewelry store of someone he knew and they were trying to tell him his necklace he had on needed fixed. That’s really all I remember. Very different from any dream I’ve had in the past. Now what does that all mean??
