Quotes

The only reason you see the shadow is because you’ve turned away from the light.

Process the light of the truth and change the way you’re thinking by replacing my thoughts with His thoughts and let His thoughts shape our actions.

When I walked in the truth, my feelings would begin to align over time.

We find two most powerful words in community: “Me too.”

Our girlfriends can be the one that says don’t be so hard on yourself.

Social media can give me a surfacey sense of community. It’s kind of like rice cakes – it doesn’t nourish my heart.

Feathers Season 4 Episode 16 with Tahni Cullen: Josiah’s Fire and Child-like Faith

August 23, 2016 by Amy 1 Comment

FeathersiTunes2-300

In this episode, I interview Tahni Cullen.

Tahni Cullen is the co-author with Cheryl Ricker of the new book, Josiah’s Fire: Autism Stole His Words, God Gave Him a Voice. Tahni is a people-lover, blogger, and conference speaker who brings a powerful message of hope and restoration. She worked thirteen years at a multi-campus church in the Twin Cities of Minnesota where she served in communication arts and as a ministry director. Tahni and her producer husband, Joe, created an award-winning documentary called Surprised By Autism. They live with their 10 year old son, Josiah, in St, Paul, where they enjoy exploring Minnesota’s museums and destinations.

Tahni-Cullen

When Tahni Cullen’s two-year old son, Josiah, is diagnosed with severe autism, she feels like they have been handed a prison sentence. How could a good God have allowed this to happen, and how can Tahni find hope for their future?

Five years later, Josiah, who is non-verbal and has not been formally taught to read or write, suddenly types on his iPad profound sentences about the Trinity, heaven, and strangers whose lives he understood. Josiah’s ongoing encounters launch his parents and the rest of us into a whole new world.

Quotes

Prayer starts and ends with our status as heirs.

When you remember who are, remember whose you are, to me it changes everything.

One of the things he’s given us is secure identity. Another thing he’s given us is access to his presence. He’s also given us the faithfulness of his promises. He’s put a call on our lives. He’s put his spirit in us.

Everywhere we put our feet, God’s kingdom comes to earth.

I can’t be at the mercy of other people’s opinions because it will compel me to misuse the opportunities and the gifts that God has given me.

There will be a day of reckoning and there will be a day of reward on that judgement day when we each face God and give an account for our lives and what moves him his faith, hope, and love. That’s what matters.

Satan is a legalist and he’ll take any ground you give him. Sometimes we get out of rank and we wonder why we feel out of joint. When we’re out of alignment, we can’t carry the call of God that we normally could. We have to recapture the fear of the Lord and say I need to get back in rank.

To the extent that you honor him rightly will be the extent you’ll have power in your prayers.

You can’t sustain a fellowship with God without time and presence.

The difference was I decided to trust God’s promises were true even though they didn’t feel true.
