Scott ended up not talking

January 13, 2004 by Amy

Scott ended up not talking to his corporal last night. Phooey.

Emma went down last night with absolutely no crying. I just rocked her for a few minutes and put her down. She watched me walk out and then just went to sleep. Then today she went down for a nap at 10:30, not sure what that’s all about. Hopefully she won’t be miserable come 4:00 today.

My, I mean OUR, play

January 13, 2004 by Amy

My, I mean OUR, play date went really well today. Again S and I had a really great time together. We gabbed the ENTIRE time. We hadn’t seen each other in over a month and we definitely caught up with each other. We never had any awkward moments or anything. We just have the same style about almost everything. She is a little more germ conscious than I am, but not to the extreme as some moms I’ve been with (no offense to anyone, I am probably in the wrong there). I can think of lots of little examples…she was saying on the way back from Wal-Mart how she drove her just asleep H around some more to make sure when she got her out of the car she didn’t wake up. We talked about us both liking books and how we had tons of them for the girls and how much they loved them, we talked about clothing deals we had gotten for them, not caring they came from Wal-Mart, we traded some food tips because we both felt like our girls ate the same thing every day, we talked about their nap and sleep schedule which is the about the same. There were just so many things that we have in common. She even got her hair cut like mine! She had mentioned that she liked it and had even said something about taking a picture of it last time. How cool is that? But I can tell she is different from me in the respect she is way more outgoing than I am. Especially after meeting her reserved husband this afternoon, I can tell she’s the “Scott” and he is me. It works out though because we’re the same, but different. I hope she feels the same way because I feel like I am babbling about my long lost twin and would feel pretty stupid if she didn’t think much of me. Anyway, the girls also played well. I mean, as much as 14 months old can play together. They were both well-behaved and played alongside one another quite well. If I were a SAHM (vs. WAHM) we would definitely be hanging out a lot more. I was gone a total of 2 1/2 hrs this afternoon so I really can’t make a habit of it, but I really am thinking of calling her to go to the zoo tomorrow afternoon since we’ll be out of town the rest of the week.

I am getting so irritated at the clutter in our house. It’s not that bad, but we have what Flylady would call Hotspots. We have this one bar stool that we never really use as a bar stool, but instead a coat rack. I told Scott today that we just need to get rid of it and then we can’t put anything there. We have too huge bookcase type things in Emma’s room that I would love to trash half of the stuff on there. I am not much for stuffed animals and Scott’s family thinks they’re the BEST present ever, so we have WAY too many of them collecting dust on the shelves. I really would like to donate most of them to a hospital or something. I mean, Emma has two Happy Easter bunnies that are EXACTLY the same except in different colors. It’s utter nonsense. The whole cabinet needs to be emptied and put back together. Emma’s toys is a whole other topic. She has SO many of them. I need to put them away in our closet and get a few out every day so it is like Christmas every day. I think she sees the whole mess and then just gets overwhelmed and then plays with none of it.

Scott said he’s going to talk to his corporal about putting in for a transfer tonight. I’m interested to see his reaction. He’s not the guy that would yay or nay it, but he’ll know whether it’s a good idea or not and how to go about it.

We have a play date

January 12, 2004 by Amy

We have a play date this afternoon! This is the same mommy/daughter we had gone to the zoo with last year. She called me up this morning and I had already been thinking about doing the same. I guess you could say I’m skipping out on work for an hour or two to go over to their house today. I can’t wait!

Emma is really started understanding

January 12, 2004 by Amy

Emma is really started understanding what we’re saying. Last night I told her it was time to go get a bath. She leaves the living room and trots into our dark bedroom to our bathroom where she waits for me to come in and start running her bath water. Today, I told her it was time to go change her diaper and she went into her room and waited by the glider for me to put her on the changing table. She’s such a smartie 😉

Here’s a few pictures… can anyone tell me how to make them not see-through without changing the other stuff??
Any time you ask Emma a question, she puts her hands out like this…

Emma loves to “give love” to her new baby cousin…

Emma had a ball with the crayons and markers we opened today. Unfortunately, I think she tried to color herself instead of the coloring book.
Yesterday Scott’s mom, dad, grandmother

January 11, 2004 by Amy

Yesterday Scott’s mom, dad, grandmother and 2 cousins came down for a visit. Sometimes this many people over stress my out, but we had a great visit. I made spaghetti casserole for everyone for lunch and it was SO good.

Last night Scott and I watched Pirates of the Carribean and I was really impressed, especially with Johnny Depp. I loved all the dry humor and riddles he talked in. I found myself LOL lots. I could have done without all the skeletons, but it was kind of cool when Jack and the other Captain were fighting in the cave and they kept morphing. I was going to watch the “extras” on the DVD but we went ahead and took back the rental so we could get $1.00 off since we returned it early. We are going to watch SWAT tonight. Guess who picked that out??

After participating in AWANA on Wednesday, church was so different this morning. I was actually able say good morning to two people I knew before church and in Sunday School, I was actually included in some conversations! It was great to feel involved again. I think it always helps when Scott is with me too. He is like a natural magnet. His job makes for easy conversation starters.

So Scott and I have been talking about a second baby. I really would prefer a baby in the spring (as in 2005) but I also wanted them closer to 2 years apart. This might sound awful, but in my head I think Scott could get the transfer back home if they knew I was pregnant (which I’m not). I could list a whole page of hardships if I got pregnant right now. I certainly don’t want to have a child because of a job, but if we’re planning one anyway…

It’s been 6 months since we’ve moved now and really, it hasn’t been TOO bad. The hardest part is getting everything packed and being gone for days at a time. Emma gets off schedule and it’s hard running around town non stop when we’re there. I have to say it has been nice to be away from family sometimes. Never having to worry about whose family we’re eating dinner at, not hearing every single fight everyone’s having. And it’s been nice to spend time with just Scott and Emma. We both definitely want to go back home, but maybe this time we won’t plant ourselves 5 minutes away from each family’s house. Scott has already called someone to get some advice on how to handle approaching his transfer request. Our lease runs out in June and hopefully by then I’ll be pregnant so in the next 6 months hopefully we’ll have either moved back or at least have plans to.

A lot happened this past year…
Scott went to academy
Emma’s first year
We moved away from home(town) for the first time
Scott started the highway patrol
I started working from home
Pap passed away

With the plans we have, I’m not doubting this year will be just as busy! *Big breath*
