This week was a great episode.  Good to see a new face in the crowd even though I don’t want to see Lauren and Gavin together.

Better Day

October 23, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I can tell today will be a better day.  Last night I decided to record The Bachelor, take some Unisom and go to bed.  Since Lexi had gone to sleep at 7:30 last night on the way home from Target she was up around 6:30 this morning.  Thankfully she just laid in bed with me and didn’t want up to play.  But we did end up getting out of bed earlier than yesterday and since I had taken a bath last night, I was able to actually get my hair, make-up and clean clothes on–no that does not happen every day.  I even put heels on with my jeans just so I felt "done".  I hate when experts are right but it’s true that Mom needs to take care of herself before she can take care of anyone else.  I just feel better this morning simply from getting up a little earlier and getting ready.

I was walking around the house today and thinking about all I did yesterday–without speaking to a single adult face to face and without a shower or clean clothes on.  No wonder I had a bad day…

  • Cooked all three meals plus provided snacks
  • Changed out the dishwasher
  • Washed ALL of my pots and pans
  • Cleaned the entire play room.  And it was A MESS
  • Wrote two paid posts plus my regular posts
  • Worked 6 hours
  • Drove the kids to and from school
  • Went to CVS and Walgreens
  • Ran errands with the kids to the bank, grocery store and cleaners
  • Went to Target and got Lexi’s Halloween costume
  • Gave Emma a bath
  • Did a Beth Moore bible study
  • Took a shower – yes, this counts as a task

Yes, I know, wah, wah, me.  I’m a Mommy and ALL mommys have a long list of things they do every day.  That doesn’t make it easy…

But enough complaining.  Today will be better.

Bad Monday

October 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

To be honest, I’ve had a pretty crappy today.  I feel like I need a bath–I mean I do NEED a bath since I haven’t had a chance to get one ALL DAY but I feel like I need a bath, not a shower–and I need to sleep for a very long time.  And I need to laugh.  And I need a pat on the back.  Is that too much to ask?

They crack me up.

October 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Conversation today on the way home:

Emma (whining):  Mommy, I want to pick a different movie.  We’ve been watching this one FOREVER.

Me: Emma, quit whining and don’t be dramatic, we haven’t been watching it forever.  (Lexi just picked this Barbie Mermadia out from Blockbuster Saturday night)

*pause*

Emma (still whining): Mommy, we’ve been watching it for a while.

Me: Emma, if you don’t quit whining, I’m going to turn the movie off.

Lexi: Yeah!  Off!

On sock computing

October 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’ve been known in the past to substitute regular words with technical words.

Like one time I opened my refrigerator and saw something out of date and said out loud, "I need to delete that."

Yes, wouldn’t it be nice just to click a button for the fridge to be cleaned?

Well, yesterday I think Emma was trying to use a big word and ended up doing the same thing.  She was folding socks and she was SO PROUD that she can finally put the socks together.  Lexi was wanting her to go play and Emma didn’t want to and said, "Leave me alone, I’m busy computing socks!"

10/21 CVS and Walgreens deals

October 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This week I really racked up on the deals because of the ECBs/Register Rewards I earned last week.

At CVS:

2 8 pack AA Energizer batteries

3 100 count Tylenol Rapid Release

$45.98 with no sale or coupon

$5.40 in store sales

$11 in store coupons

$12 manufacturers coupons

$15.68 in ECBs

My total taken out of my bank account: $2.97

ECBs printed out for next week: $18, plus a $10/$50 and free shipping for online

WOW.  And I could have gotten more off if I had printed that 3rd Tylenol coupon.  I thought they were over $10 so I only needed to buy 2 to get the $10 ECB but I had to buy 3 since it was only $9.99.

At Walgreens:

Venus Breeze Razor

Cetaphil face cleanser (I really NEEDED this)

$21.98 with no sale or coupon

$7 in store sales

$2 in manufacturers coupons

$10 in Register Rewards

My total taken out of my bank account: $4.03

RR printed out for next week: $4

Summary for the week: I got paid $15 to take home $67.96 worth of merchandise.

Oh well

October 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, well, that Carnival was a bust.  Even MisterLinky wouldn’t play along and was down.  I guess I’ll try it one more time and if there are no participants next week, we’ll forget about a Sunday Scripture Carnival.

Sunday Scripture Carnival – #1

October 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So I’ve decided to jump on a bandwagon and host my own carnival. I’m starting out small, I know. The blogosphere seems to be quiet on the weekends, especially Sunday. So part of the reason for this carnival is to encourage weekend reading/posting. And part of it is it’s the beginning of a new week and what better what to start fresh than to concentrate on Scripture? Especially to see how it’s touching someone else.

So, for this weekly carnival, simply post a verse, a set of verses or even just a reference to a verse that means something to you now or maybe even in the past. Explain why it’s important or don’t. It’s up to you.

My scripture this week is Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

With all the stuff going on with our youth group, I’m having to use every ounce of every one of these God will give me to hang on.

So how about you? Go now and post and then come back. Post your name and then a direct link to you blog entry. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave yours in the comments.
