Friday’s Feast

November 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Appetizer
How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season?

We usually end up spending $6-700 on gifts.

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good?

Last full episode was Grey’s and I just posted a blog on that.  I started watching The Office that I missed but didn’t finish.

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?

I really, really like my green walls.  I might go with a gold and tan color if I HAD to repaint.

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.

Seems like I’m always saying this or that should be invented but I never write my ideas down or I find that out that someone has already done it.

Dessert
List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season.

iPhone, iPhone, iPhone

J/K – sort of.  I would like all kinds of stuff but it’s never $20 things I want, they’re usually a couple hundred dollars.  Like I’d really like to replace my dishes with square white Pottery Barn ones.  I’d like a new stove.  I need a new chair in my living room.  I want curtains in my kitchen, living room and sunroom.  I want new sweaters/shirts from Ann Taylor.  I need some casual winter shoes.  I really want my kitchen floors and countertop done which is actually cheaper than a lot that I’ve mentioned.  New lighting in several rooms.  I need a coupon organizer.  I’d love a wireless keyboard.  An elliptical machine or someone to pay for my gym membership.

Yeah, so just give me a few thousand dollars and I’d be set.

On the real list is gift cards from Ann Taylor, Starbuck’s, iTunes or Target.

I’m free – at least for a little bit

November 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So today my Mom took off with the girls for their weekly Friday ritual around 11.  I had to go back into the office this afternoon for the meeting that was canceled 20 minutes before the meeting on Tuesday when I went in.  And what a bummer today was too because the meeting only lasted 20 minutes.  And that was a stretch.  Oh well.  It’s nice to get dressed up and get out of the house every once in awhile.

So when I got home this evening the kids were back but I think I spoke to soon about everyone being healthy around here.  Lexi’s had a slight fever since yesterday and as soon as I got home, she fell asleep while I rocked her in the recliner.  Scott went to work within 20 minutes of me being home.

Emma and I made pancakes and eggs for dinner since I forgot to put my roast in the crockpot this morning.  And she was so sweet.  She walks into the kitchen after we were done eating and says, "I love spending time with you."  Aw, melt my heart.

Well, my nephew called and was having a campfire and roasting hot dogs and wanted us to come over.  Since Lexi was still asleep and not feeling well, came and got Emma and will be bringing her back later.

Scott cleaned the bathrooms today (we won’t discuss how I managed to get him to do that, but it’s probably not hard to guess…sorry, Heather), did the dishes and even folded laundry while I was at work.  So my house is on the way to being clean.  So here I am in a quiet, dark, somewhat clean house blogging.  Ah, the life.

The girls will be staying at home tonight instead of going to MILs like normal.  Our choir is hosting a yard sale and church tomorrow and MIL has to be there at 6.  She’s going to come get the kids around 10 and take the kids so then I can go help with the yard sale.

Tomorrow is also Lexi’s 3rd birthday and since we have the party planned for next weekend and Scott is working again tomorrow night, I’m not sure if we’re really doing anything tomorrow.  So, no plans for the weekend really unlike the past few and I think I’m just fine with that.

Just dorky enough to enjoy these

And no, I have a PC, not a Mac. But the Mac boy is oh so cute. Thanks to WebbAlert for these.

Rap about Mac or PC.  It’s way too long but cute for a few seconds.

I could sit and watch all of these.  They crack me up and he’s so cute!

That’s right PC!

Gotta love you some Linux.  Especially since most of our little blogs are sitting on it.

Grey’s Anatomy November 1, 2007

November 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m not a big fan of tonight’s episode.  Not enough STUFF happened.  Here are my very random thoughts…

George and Izzie are just weird together.  They looked like brother and sister lying in bed together and it was just weird.  At best, it reminded me of the days when her and Meredith would collapse in George’s bed at the end of a day and they were all friends.  Now it’s just weird.  I just didn’t even want to see them kiss much less have hot s-e-x.  It was just weird.

Dr. Hahn HAS to go.  I do not like her.  And I heard a rumor that her and McDreamy might get together and THAT IS NOT OK.

Alex and Lexie?  Really now?  I really want Alex and Izzie but I could handle Alex and Lexie.

Meredith was weird in this episode.  I couldn’t quite figure out what her issue was.  I think she wanted a moment of clarity back to be able to completely give herself to McDreamy but she couldn’t so she wanted to let go but then she wasn’t ready.  I think.

Christina needs a man.  Her and heart husband are getting old.

The wedding dress thing was sorta desperate but I’m glad that George let go first.

The one great moment of the episode is when Callie tells George she’s letting him go.  Hallelujah, no more George and Callie.

I think Callie and Mark should get together.  Or maybe Christina and Mark.

Anyway, looking forward to a better episode next week.  This season is sort of hit and miss, huh?

Giveaway Countdown

November 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Because I simply can not wait, I will be doing the drawing in the morning for the gift card.  I really wish I would have made it more complicated than simply clicking a few buttons in Excel to pick the winner.  Maybe I’ll come up with something just as fair and yet more exciting before the morning.  Nah, probably won’t.

But I still can’t wait!!!  Right now, there are 317 entries and that still shocks me!  I guess finally I get something right in the blogosphere.

I’ll probably be doing the announcement around 9am EST tomorrow so check back to see the lucky winner!

All things were made by God John 21 First

November 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This is a short story Emma had me write down for her this afternoon.  I think there’s a little mesh between Jonah and the Whale, Moses being found in the Nile, Barbie Mermaidia, maybe some Curious George and a little real life.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful mermaid and she found a seashell and there was another mermaid and she found another seashell. Then there was somebody fishing and then there was a monkey and then he saw the man fishing. Then he saw two little girls named Emma and Lexi and then there was another monkey and he also saw two little girls Emma and Lexi.

And then there was play-doh stuck in the seashell that the mermaids found.  And then there was chocolate milk that the mermaids were drinking out of and then there were toys the mermaids were playing with.  Then there was another monkey.  There were three monkeys.

Then there was another mermaid.  All mermaids were named Mermaidia.  The mermaids got the play-doh out of the seashell.  And then there was a baby boy named Moses.  And then the mermaids came to see the baby named Moses.  And then they were making bracelets for the baby so he could see his Momma.  And then at the doctors they were making more bracelets (haha–Emma thought that was funny).

And then they had Fall Festival in the sea.  The mermaids went and the mommy and the baby went too.  And then there were more two little girls named Ashlyn Kenny and Skyler.  And then we got Barbie tattoos.  And then they went to get pocket purses at the store.   They went to the store after Fall Festival.

And there was a mermaid named Ashlyn Kenny.  Then the monkey saw the chocolate milk the mermaids were drinking out of after they went to the store and took it from them and he was drinking out of it.

And then there was sunflowers on the dry land.  The sea was drying up because there was a big whale and he drank all the water.  And then the mermaids got in the whale and took the water out and the whale choked and he went back to his house and the mermaids put the water back.  And then everything turned out perfect.  And the mermaids changed into humans and got married.

The End

Latest CVS Deal

November 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today I made another CVS deal that was FABULOUS.

Nova Max Blood Glucose monitor is normally $59.99.

On sale for $29.99

Coupon for $50 is found in a Diabetes pamphlet in the store – check the sale ad this week for a picture of it.  The clerk had to do register magic to make it be $29.99.

I paid $2.10 in tax and they wouldn’t let me use ECBs to pay for it.

I received $20 in ECBs from the transaction.  It also spit out a $3 off $15 coupon and $2.50 off $10 in CVS brand items.

No one in this house has diabetes but I mentioned donating things I got and I was serious.  I found Amy’s site and plan to send her the monitor for the missionaries in Gautemala.  Win-win for all of us.  Yay!

Just another tip–they seem to be out in A LOT of the stores around here but a clerk told my sister they could order one for her and it’d be in-store the next day but the sale is up Saturday, so hurry if you want to take part.
