Christmas Home Tour ’07

December 17, 2007 by Amy 7 Comments

Some of you have seen some of these before, but let me formally show you around.

In our yard we have several blow ups and then these deer an angel who stand by our pond.

You get a peek of our Christmas tree from outside.

image

When you come in, you’ll be greeted by this cute snowman and Nativity scene on the hall table.

image

I guess I should mention all the stuff that is broken in this thing thanks to two little girls I may know.  You may be able to make out the fact that the donkey has no ears.  The angel only has one wing.  One wise man only has one hand.  Another wiseman has no gifts.  The shepherd’s staff is broken.  Yep, I’m thinking I need to get another one of these next year.

image

Next you’ll see our tree decorated in red and lime green with white and multicolor lights as well as bubble lights.

image

You get a peek of our mantle above and here is one of the stockings.

If I remember correctly, that one is Lexi’s.  But Emma can tell you for sure.  She keeps us in line.

image

In the dining room, I put out the mini trees.

image

And finally the last bit of decorations is a small ceramic tree in the girls’ bedroom

We kept it pretty simple so that’s it, folks!

CVS Deals Week of December 16 2007

December 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

As I mentioned in the last post, I had about $14 worth of ECBs I had to use this week.  I wasn’t overly excited about the deals this week and would have probably only gotten the Quattro razor had I not had to use my ECBs.  So this is what I got:

1 Aquafresh toothpaste .99
1 Quattro Midnight Razor 7.99
2 CVS Cough Drops .99
2 L’oreal Vive Shampoo 4.99 (B1G1)
1 Playtex Tampons 4.99
1 Wrapping Paper 2.99
1 Tape .99

Used $4 Razor coupon from 12/16
Used $1 L’Oreal Coupon

Used $2/10 coupon
Used  3.99, 3.79 and 6.99 ECBs

Total oop $3.72 for $37.33 worth of product

I overestimated the total a bit trying to make sure I used all the ECBs. I probably would have left off either the paper or cough drops.

I also had several coupons print out including the survey that came out a few weeks ago.  I think in total I earned $8 ECBs plus $3/15 coupon and $4/20 plus other coupons.

Anyway, it turned out good in that I came home with as many ECBs as I had and I’m happy with that.

I hate making up post titles – this post is about my day

December 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, so after taking the kids to school I headed up to work.  I had a 10:00 meeting I barely made it to.  I’m sitting in there for about an hour and get a call on my cell phone that I don’t recognize but assumed it was the girls’ preschool just because where the number came from.  A voicemail was left right away so I left the meeting only to find out Lexi is sick and needs picked up and she couldn’t get ahold of Scott at home.  So I then call several times to the house and Scott’s cell.  Scott worked last night and was sleeping.  I knew he had set his alarm so he was sure to wake up to pick them up at 12.  I called the school back and left a message saying I was at work and explained Scott’s situation and was going to keep trying.  I finally gave up on Scott and hope she’s calling and go back in my meeting.  A few minutes later I get a call back from the school saying they had talked to Scott and he was on the way.  Crisis averted.  Well sort of.

Lexi had a temperature, fever, croupy cough, was becoming lethargic and wouldn’t eat.  Fabulous.  I called the doctor and made an appointment for Scott to take her this afternoon.  She was put on steroids and told to stay on Tylenol.  When I got home this evening, she was 2 hours into a 3 hour nap.  She’s already back in bed too.

Scott’s parents came over this evening to visit.  We had a good time chatting while the girls played with S who came with them.  After they left, I ran out to CVS to use up some ECBs that expired Saturday.  We’re headed up to Maryland Wednesday afternoon and who knows if they have a CVS or what the rules are up there.  I just didn’t want to chance it so I spent them.  And plus, the sales are the same probably so may as well get it done with.

Now I’m catching up with all my Internet stuff and doing some laundry in preparation for this weekend’s trip.  So that’s it.

Before I go, two quick requests…pray that Lexi gets better before Wednesday so she might get to do her Christmas play at school and she’ll be good to go for our long car trip and pray for my grandmother as she has a chemo treatment tomorrow.

Christmas Songs by Lexi

December 16, 2007 by Amy 1 Comment

Lexi has really been singing Christmas songs lately while they’ve been practicing at school for their program on Wednesday.  Today we caught her singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" but it went like this:

We miss you a Merry Christmas

We miss you a Merry Christmas

We miss you a Merry Christmas

And a happy new you

Sunday Scripture

December 16, 2007 by Amy 1 Comment

Sorry this is a bit late.  Busy weekend!  My scripture this week is actually some lyrics to the chorus of a song.  We had our choir cantata today and there was on old song sung that I still love the words to.

HE KNEW ME, YET HE LOVED ME
HE WHOSE GLORY MAKES THE HEAVENS SHINE
SO UNWORTHY OF SUCH MERCY
YET WHEN HE WAS ON THE CROSS
I WAS ON HIS MIND.

So how about you? To participate, simply post a verse, a set of verses or even just a reference to a verse that means something to you now or maybe even in the past. Explain why it’s important or don’t. It’s up to you. Go now and post and then come back. Post your name and then a direct link to you blog entry. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave yours in the comments. Here is the code for the graphic above.

I Heart Chris Daughtry!

December 16, 2007 by Amy 2 Comments

If you haven’t been reading long you may not know my addiction to love of Chris Daughtry.  It literally started when I first saw him on American Idol.  Read this post and see.  Don’t you love how I picked the top 5 from the very beginning?  I digress.  I saw him in concert back in the spring and loved it.

But tonight was awesome.

Heather and I dropped the girls off at MIL’s since Scott is working tonight. We stopped in at Ruby Tuesday’s and split their New Orleans fish and Sirloin.  Yum.  Started the night right.  I was really worried about parking and lines on nearby roads because their known to back up.  Apparently this wasn’t causing too much of a raucous because there were no lines and when we got in the parking lot, we were literally a few parking spots away from being right at the building.  We walked right in and found our seats 30 minutes early.  The place was almost packed.  Heather had heard it was not sold out and indeed no one sat in the two seats at the end of our row to our right.

The concert opened with two acts.  One was You Are, I Am.  They were ok.  Next up was an AWESOME Canadian band called The Midway State.  I think they may be better in person but they were so cool to listen to.  Very sweet lyrics to their rock songs.  The lead singer/piano player Nathan has this huge afro but the boy can play and sing.  I highly recommend you check them out.

So on to my camera story.  The tickets said no cameras but come on.  Most places let you get away with it.  There were these ladies standing in the aisles helping people to their seats.  The one near us looked like a mean school teacher according to Heather.  I agreed.  I was scared to take my camera out.  So I waited until the lights went out.  I took a few (Heather’s says lots) pictures with my flash and this woman almost comes running at me with her flashlight and says, "You can not take any more pictures or you will be thrown out!"  Yikes, yes, ma’am.  And then I see the same woman actually go tell a girl to put her cell phone up and she can not take any pictures.  It was awful.  As you can see below though, I eventually snuck the camera out with no flash and took some pictures.

So as for Chris’s performance, the Greensboro concert paled in comparison.  Obviously the sound and lighting was better because we were inside.  But it was extra good because the place he played at was pretty small.  And we were on row V so it wasn’t too far back.  He basically sang his entire album plus did some Motley Crue, John Lennon and other covers.  They were really cool.  He also sang a song he just wrote in Australia.  It was a ballad. We had a hard time understanding what he was saying but he sounded good.

I just love that Chris’s voice is so real.  What you hear on the album is what you get in person.  If not better.  He also tries to switch up a few places and make it sound a little better and it sounds cool.  The crowd was screaming the whole time. We were on our feet the whole time.  And then at the end Heather says, "I think he just said to come down front."  I basically threw my camera on my purse, left everything and pushed Heather out the aisle to run down.  I was then within four feet or so of the stage.  At the end he shook the crowd’s hands.  I tried so hard to get close enough but I was about a foot short of getting to him.  Heather apparently was a bit sneakier because she kept moving down the stage with him, threw herself over the crowd and got to shake his hand!!  Lucky girl.

But that was basically it.  He went off-stage after that never to return.  My throat hurts from screaming and our choir cantata is in the morning.  Tonight was awesome.  Now enjoy the few pictures I got.  Also check my flickr account soon.  I’ll put some I took out there too.

Oh, and be sure to scope out the drummer in the pictures :).

Do nothing night

December 14, 2007 by Amy 2 Comments

As planned, we basically did nothing this evening.  We went to Mom’s housewarming thingy at lunch where we were able to get our Christmas pictures taken too.  Emma wanted to stay there but Lexi wanted to come home.  I guess she was partied out from the week because she fell asleep and took a nap for most of the afternoon.  When she got up and Scott left for work, Lexi and I stopped at Walgreens to get our Christmas cards – they turned out great – and then went to Mom’s and hung out there the whole evening.  The girls alternated between playing, eating and watching movies.  I ate and worked on my other site.

I’m still spending quite a bit of time on it while I get stuff up to date.  I got all set up on adwords today since I got $50 with my bluehost account.  And can I just take a moment to say I see why Jaynee keeps saying how great it is.  I had an issue with my email account and was able to chat with a tech support guy within minutes and he was able to help me out right away.  Awesome!  And the free adwords stuff was very cool too.  I saw a difference almost immediately.

Anyway, certainly don’t want to make this blog all about that blog but it is taking a lot of my time right now.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be spending two hours at choir practice and then tomorrow night is the big DAUGHTRY night!  Woo Hoo!  With such a busy week I’ve hardly been able to get excited about it but tomorrow night at this time I’ll be seeing Chris with my own eyes.  Yay!!!
