Dancing with the Stars September 24

September 24, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Um, that was 3 tv shows ago that I watched.  All this new fall tv is draining me.  Let me see who I remember..

  •  I think the Cheetah girl, Sabrina I think, did well.  I rather liked the hip hop moves in the routine, Lynn, thank you very much.
  • Jane Seymour did well.  So elegant.  Not sure how she’ll do with Latin though.
  • Marie Osmond is definitely rubbing me the wrong way.  Just her attitude.
  • Jennie Garth is just so cute and down to earth.  I really like her and she has some work to do, but I thought she did quite well.
  • Mel B. is really likeable.  I thought she did really well.
  • The model didn’t do so well.  She’s gorgeous but she has a lot of physical work to do.

So on to the men tomorrow night…

The Bachelor Top 25

September 24, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

First episode of the season and woah, this one is quite the hottie.  Wow.  I agree with one of the contestants that said “I’m just happy to stare at him for a little while.”  All that aside, seems like some good contestants this year.  So far no evil ones standing out.  Definitely some party girls though.

I really like the girl he gave the first impression rose to.   Deana with the black and white striped dress was really cute.  The tongue thing and feet thing was really weird.  Melissa went off the deep-end…but the sweetness. The pretzel was not so impressive as a first impression.  The pool girl was gorgeous but a little too forward and presumptuous on the first night.

Hard to pick any front-runners or favorites at this point.

Pick-up Artist Finale

September 24, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Can’t tell you how glad I was that Cosmo won.  I was practically chanting his name waiting for Mystery to announce it and yes, I clapped and screamed when his name was called.  I thought he was a good candidate from the beginning.  This process just brought out his best and gave him the confidence he needed to be a Master. Pick-up. Artist. ha

The Hills – September 24

September 24, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

O M G.  I can not believe Jason and his new what’s-his-name girlfriend–oh excuse me, fiance.  He went after her right after his engagement was announced.  And then that girl stood right in between Jason and Lauren and gave her that look.  Low class.  But I’m glad to hear Lauren is coming out of the fog the next day.  Go Lauren.

And why does Heidi expect Spencer to be so excited about registering? “We’ll resume this on another day.”  Actually, I think I like that line and may have to use it.  “Oh, honey, you mean you don’t want to shop for shoes with me?  Oh, well, we’ll resume this on another day.”  Spencer hasn’t told his parents???  He is such a loser!!  Ugh.

So frustrated

September 24, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So ‘member that huge raise from my client manager I thought I was going to get?  You know, just for being a great employee (well, contractor technically)?  Yeah, well, not happening.  And oh yeah, today I got a call from my contracting company and I’m not getting anything for my annual raise either.

I’m so bummed and mad and frustrated.  I want out of that contracting company pronto.  But you know, non-compete clauses and political stuff like that keep me from making the jump in a skinny minute.

My client manager and contracting manager are all supposed to have a conversation next week and maybe they can work out something so the contracting company doesn’t eat all of it and I get some pennies as least.

Go!

September 24, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Yesterday we had a guest speaker at church.  He was a director of missions from some county in NC.  He was a fantastic speaker.  He kept your attention, had good stuff to say and was quite entertaining.  I know that probably shouldn’t be on “the list” of what makes a good pastor, but it helped either way.  I wanted to share the four games he said people play in church and then the four things that people can do after they quit playing games that will make a great church.

Game #1 – Blame game.  It’s always someone else’s fault when something doesn’t go right.

Game #2 – Excuses game.  We always have an excuse.

Game #3 – Power game.  It was almost funny when he said this, you could hear the oh’s coming from people across our congregation.  This one stabbed us in the heart.  That is one of the main problems in our church.  Someone gets put at the head of the committee and they say “It’s mine.  mine. mine. mine!” in a four year old voice.  That was funny when he said it, but honest to God, that’s the way people act.

Game #4 –  Procrastination – I’ll get saved…tomorrow.  I’ll go visit them..tomorrow.  I’ll start reading my Bible…tomorrow.  We all know how that one goes.

And once you give these games up…you should take these steps taken from Matthew 9:35-37:

#1 Go!  – Jesus went and never stopped.  He got out and talked to and touched the people that no one else would.

#2 See! – When you go, you start seeing and you can’t see until you go.  When you start seeing people, you start seeing the needs of people.

#3 Compassion – When you go and see people in need, you automatically develop compassion for them.  Anyone that has been on a missions trip can attest to this.  There’s no way to describe that feeling of what you see when you went.

#4 Pray – When you go and see the needs of people and develop this compassion for them, you will pray.  Pray like you never have before.  And prayer moves mountains.  He fills needs and moves other people to go!

This was a very condensed version of his sermon…unfortunately none of the funny stuff included, but it really touched me yesterday.  I have all these grand plans in my head and yet I procrastinate and never go.

For all the searchers from Google…the finale is Sunday Sept 30. I don’t know who wins but everything I’ve read online this morning has Jess as the winner.
