First cold of the season

September 23, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I woke up last night to snot running down my face.  Nice.  I’ve apparently picked up my first cold of the season.  I went to church this morning but didn’t make it this evening.  I slept on and off this afternoon.  Mom and Dad’s air went out so we’ve been over here at their house and Scott has been trying to fix it.  I’ve just been lounging around and the girls are watching Shrek in between playing.  I’m hoping I’ll wake up in the morning and somehow be all better otherwise tomorrow is not going to be fun.

Changes

September 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

img_8544-1.JPGWell, the weekend really hasn’t gone much at all like I planned….

Yesterday the big project got postponed so I left work at 4:30.  The four of us went to eat at Longhorn (hmmm..melt in your mouth Flo’s Filet), stopped by my sister’s house and then took the girls to MIL’s.  Lexi did NOT want to stay the night there so she came home with us.  I was SO tired I layed down on our bed and fell asleep.  Scott was nice enough to stay up with Lexi who had napped through Longhorn and wasn’t tired.

This morning I had planned to clean which I started doing but then Heather called me and said that a local furniture shop was having a sale and thought there were a few things that would work in my house.  So I pulled my hair up, put on some decent clothes and headed out for that which led us to the Ottoman Debate until about 2 today.  We ended up going to 3 other furniture stores, eating out with the girls and in-laws and finally deciding to keep the purchased ottoman.

I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning and finally getting a shower and here I am now.  Emma is still with the in-laws, Heather is over here napping and we need to be headed over to my mom’s to eat dinner before C and I head to the band exhibition this evening.

Guess I better round up the troops…

Weekend postponed for me

September 21, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This afternoon I have to go up to work for a really, really big implementation of a new system.  Thankfully I only have a small part.  However, everyone is nervous about it as the developer has left the company and I’m just filling in for the deployment.  Hoping and praying everything goes well.  That starts at 5 but I’m leaving early to avoid traffic and could be home as  early as 7, who knows.

The kids will probably be at MIL’s by then to spend the night.  Maybe Scott and I will watch a movie or something.  Tomorrow morning I really need to clean and do laundry.  And it’s time for that deep cleaning again.  Not just a swish and swipe here and there.

Also want to stop by Art on Main tomorrow downtown.  Hopefully see Jaynee there and all those blankets and art she’s been working on.  I’ve never been to the thing.  Not sure if they have even had it before so I’m curious.

Saturday night is the high school’s band exhibition and C and I are going to go check it out.  It’s been a few years since I’ve been out to one and this year I actually know some band members as a couple of the youth group are in it.

Sunday will be the norm–church, relex, choir, church.  They FINALLY have someone who has stepped up to watch the nursery on Sunday nights so yay for that.

This Week’s Season Premieres

September 21, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Just a few thoughts on the premieres this week I watched…

Beauty and the Geek – Wow, those people need some help.  Listing the countries and math problem involving a shoe sale seemed to really break the girls down.  And the boys kissing that mannequin?  O boy.  Not too fond of the male beauty.  He’s way too full of himself and not that attractive if you ask me.  The previews for the season look really good though.  These people seem wide open to accepting changes in their lives and seem really sincere.  So I hope it goes well.

Survivor – China is a tough country.  No sandy beaches there.  I have no desire to be where they are.  Chicken could have been a great player if he would have stepped up.  PG needs to step down.  Poor Leslie already having to stand up for her beliefs and getting eyes rolled at her.

Gossip Girl – The only problem I have with this show is it’s too mature for young teenagers.  Lots of serious issues already in the first episode.  Besides that I think it was really good and really, really like what’s-his-name with the rocker/artist dad.

So whether you’re new or have been here awhile, welcome.

God’s in the little things

September 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Late, late last night I posted my Thankful Thursday list…one of them being thankful for God’s mercy and grace when I screw up so much.  This morning I was on the way back from taking the girls to school and just felt the need to be obedient to some recent pastors I’ve heard say we should listen to Christian music.  Now, I definitely listen to secular music and like it.  But I can admit my mindset is different after an hour of listening to it vs. Christian music.  So I’m on no soapbox about not listening to secular music here.  Anyway, this is the song came on the radio.  It’s East to West by Casting Crowns.  I’d never heard and it just seemed so perfect at the moment.

East To West – Casting Crowns

Here I am Lord and I’m drowning, in Your sea of forgetfulness
The chains of yesterday surround me, I yearn for peace and rest
I don’t want to end up where You found me
And it echoes in my mind
Keeps me awake tonight
I know you’ve cast my sin as far as the East is from the West
And I stand before You now as though I’ve never sinned
But today I feel like I’m just one mistake away
From You leaving me this way

Chorus:
Jesus can you show me just how far the east is from the west
‘Cause I can’t bear to see the man I’ve been
Rising up in me again
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
‘Cause You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other

I start the day, the war begins
Endless reminding of my sin
And time and time again
Your truth is drowned out by the storm I’m in
Today I feel like I’m just one mistake away
from You leaving me this way

I know You’ve washed me white
Turn my darkness into life
I need Your peace to get me through
To get me through this night
I can’t live by what I feel
About the truth Your word reveals
I’m not holding on to You
But You’re holding on to me
You’re holding on to me
