Nice Matters Award

August 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Look!  I got my first award ever!  Allison over at Caffeinted Ramblings  presented me with it just today.  As she mentions, her and I have been fangirl friends for years online.  Thanks so much, Allison!

So I think the way this goes is I’m supposed to give this to 3 other women.

First has to go to Jaynee at Cootiehog.  She’s also a long time online friend but I’ve also had the pleasure of knowing her in person as well.  She’s a great writer and just a great person!

The next is actually Jaynee’s sister Jen over at Lintefiniel Musing. She’s a sweet, honest person I always enjoying catching up with.

The last I’d like to give to Jeana of Days to Come.  I’ve just recently found her and I find her writing quite entertaining and funny and seem to relate a lot to her.

So, ladies, pass this on to 3 others!

Be happy!

August 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

S is over here and she disobeyed Scott and it was something that could get her hurt so Scott gave her a spanking (yes, we have permission from his sister to do so).  Lexi and Emma peaked around the corner where Scott was explaining to S why she was getting a spanking and Lexi says to Emma in a somewhat worried voice, “S is getting a spanking.”

So Scott and S walk out of the kitchen and Lexi says to Scott,

Daddy, be happy!

Pimping my husband

August 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’ve been begging Scott to write down or record all the stories he tells me from work.  Some of them are funny, some sad, some shocking some just captivating.  He HATES to write and even worse type though so has been reluctant.  But I finally set him up with a blog of his own and we’ve agreed to do it together.  He has written the first one but we plan to have him dictate the stories and I will type them up for him.  I REALLY wanted him to video record them.  He is a great storyteller and some of the stories of wrecks and DUIs are just plain easier to understand and in some case funnier if you can see him tell the story.  But he WILL NOT let me do that.  So the written word is all we’ve got.  Well,  and he’s going to be adding some of his pictures in the gallery I set up.  I know there is quite an audience for police stories.  I mean, just think of the success of the COPS show.  I want him to do it for personal reasons of wanting to put a book together one day of his career.

So it’s just starting up and we’re still tweaking things, but here’s Scott’s police blog!

I know a Survivor!!

August 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

And I mean CBS’s Survivor!  And I guess I don’t technically KNOW the survivor, but just about as close as I can get to her.  Leslie Nease is a local Christian radio personality, which I listen to from time to time.  She lives in Fort Mill as well, has children in the schools here and guess what else?  teaches at my Y.   And I could have sworn I’ve written about her on here before but one morning I went to a cycling class and although she never introduced herself I figured out through the workout that that’s who she was.  I knew she taught a bible study there but I didn’t realize at the time that she taught as well.  But a lot of the songs she played she said were new Christian songs and it was kind of funny, she talked as if she was on the radio, commenting on the songs and giving insights.  She even apologized one time saying she can’t help herself when she gets a mic in front of her.  It was a good class.

So our newspaper runs an article today that says she has been chosen as a contestant and will not be back on the radio until after the finale.

She is a really, really nice person.  I’m guessing she will be very outspoken about her faith,.  The paper even mentions she is seeing this as a sort of missions trip.  So I’m predicting she will be either well liked and do really well or be one of the first to go.  In either case, I WILL be watching this season of Survivor.

OMG, my hair is BLACK!

August 22, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

img_7693.JPGWhen the package said Soft Black, for some reason in my head, I wasn’t thinking it would actually be BLACK.  It sounded so noncommittal to the color black.  Like brown with a little bit of spice.  My hair is as dark as that black shirt I have on and THAT was what my face looked like when I finished rinsing it.  If you look a few posts back, you’ll see my hair was definitely brown and not BLACK.  Oh my.  I hope this wears off a little.

Picture comments below are below/beside the picture (depending on site or RSS), not above.  This stupid theme will not work with pictures!!  I AM a programmer you would think I could handle a little formatting.  Sorry, it’s the best I could do!

Can you see the patch of brown on the side that didn’t get done??

Do you know how hard it is to get a decent picture of yourself at 11:30 at night??

OK, I’m getting the hang of this, I think this picture is really cute..it’s headed to myspace after this.  Seriously.  Check it.

Oh, and look what a mess I made!  I had an old t-shirt of Scott’s on and it got on the shirt which I wiped off with a towel and apparently the dye soaked through and I am a mess.  You can see on my arm where I swiped the spot on my shirt.  Part of my hairline on my skin is dyed too.  Ay caramba!  This is why the professionals should handle this.

I’m a sock

August 21, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I was looking at the picture of this sock the other night and Lexi walks up to the computer and says “That’s me!” as she normally does when she sees a picture of herself but obviously this is clearly not a picture of her.  So here went the conversation:

Lexi (excitedly) : that’s me

Me (decidedly) : that’s not you.  that’s a sock
Lexi (emphatically): that’s not a sock that’s me.
Me (certainly): no, it’s a sock.
Lexi: (confusedly): I’m a sock??
Me : i start laughing
Lexi: that’s not punny

Sophia Bush

August 21, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Scott and I were having a conversation on the way to church Sunday night about the movie The Hitcher.  It had come in from Blockbuster from our list and he had started watching it while I had napped and he was asking if I realized that “that girl from that show you watch is in it”.  Of course I had realized Sophia Bush was in it.  But what was funny is he says

Sophia Bush (pronouncing it normally like SoPHEEah. Her name sounds like the name of a bush. Like, hey, there’s a SOphia bush.

What was even funnier (it was funny at the time, this isn’t sounding so funny to me typing it out) is I try to relay this story to my sister last night.  We were in a giggly mood and for some reason I start the to tell her what Scott said with a random valley girl tone and for some reason say “This guy-ah…uh, I mean, Scott said…”.  Heather cracks up and was like “Yeah, you know, that guy I live with…my husband..yeah, him.  I was talking to him and he says Sophia Bush’s name sounds like a bush name.”

Trust me.

It was funny last night.

Paid work…

August 21, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So St called me today confirming he wanted me to work on the new church’s youth group web site.  And he won’t let me do it for free as long as I attend there.  I did our current youth group’s web site but that was free of charge….I also did my mom’s web site but that was free of charge as well.  So I had no idea what a fair price of a custom web site was.  I’ve asked some people in-the-know and it seems $600 seems to be a fair, minimum price for a package deal.  I don’t feel comfortable charging the full price as I feel like it is a ministry thing for me as well as St is a friend and it’s for a church AND I don’t know Flash, which is what he wants to do.  So I’m not sure what I’ll tell him.  I’m excited to learn Flash, which I’ve been wanting to do for years now but never got a copy of the software and never really had any reason to learn it.  So I’m thinking I’m going to be pretty busy in the near future and knowing St, we’ll be working on it heads down and until it’s EXACTLY how he wants it.
