One Tree Hill

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So my sister has now got me hooked on One Tree Hill.  No one else is allowed to let me borrow their Season 1 DVDs!!  LOL.

So, yeah, they are now in Season 4 of One Tree Hill and I’m on Disc 5 of 6 of Season 1, each episode around 45-50 minutes.  Much more work than getting caught up on two seasons of The Office.

But it is SO good.  Heather was here until 2:30am Thursday night and midnight last night.  And I plan to catch a couple before bed tonight too.  Yes, it’s a show about high school and basketball players and cheerleaders at that, but still.  It’s more about friendships and relationships and it may not be the deepest show ever but I’m hooked anyway!

Most

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

While I was at the church waiting on our video to be captured to computer, I saw a copy of the short movie called Most.  I had never heard of it but our youth pastor seems to have good taste in movies so I popped in the 33 minute movie while I waited.  It was SO good.  I cried (which, btw, I’ve been doing quite a bit to shows lately–like Grey’s Anatomy this week) towards the end.  I came home to tell Scott about it and he says, oh, I’ve heard that story lots of times from pastors.  It’s a story of a father and son.  The father takes the boy to his work as a bridge operator.  The bridge is up for a boat and the train comes early.  The boy sees it and tries to put the bridge down and falls into the gears.  The father finally sees the train and chooses to put the bridge down to save all the people on the train all the while sacrificing his sons life.  While the train goes by, a young woman watches the man crying and he sees her.  Later on it shows him trying to find meaning in life without his son and he see the woman with a newborn.  The baby is smiling and they are both happy.  The father is now happy that although he sacrificed his son, it gave life to many more.  I’m not sure if it purposely was a metaphor for God and Jesus, but boy, the message came across to me like that.  I hope our youth pastor uses it.  It was amazing.

So-So Saturday

January 20, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So Emma is sick.  She’s had a fever off and on since Thursday I think.  She was the worst this morning.  Didn’t wake up until almost 11!  Actually, none of us woke up until almost 10 today which I think may be a first.  Late night at grandmas must have wiped them out.  And Heather and I have been staying up late catching up on One Tree Hill…more on that on another post I think…so I was plenty tired.  And Scott has been working nights so he can always use the sleep.

So today we stayed inside all day long.  Emma never even got dressed today.  We just changed pajamas this evening.  I mostly cleaned all day.  Scott’s parents came by for a bit this evening to see the girls.  And I went to the church twice to capture this week’s sermon on the computer…more on that in another post.

So pretty slow Saturday.  I’m such a home-body though so it wasn’t too bad.  Just nothing overly exciting to report!

The Office Rocks

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I can hardly stand how funny this show is.

“I miss Dwight.  Congratulations, Universe, you win.”  LOVE. IT.

I never thought one person could be more annoying/cheesy/immature as Michael Scott.  But, no, this Andy character is ANNOYING.  Micheal looked normal tonight.  Was Michael hiding behind the door not hilarious??  And I was SNORTING I was laughing so hard at that “cell phone device” ringing in the ceiling.

And wasn’t that the best “Yes.” from Jim ever?

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

Ice Storm

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Hehe.  Yes, schools closed today for our big ice storm.  Scott did confirm for me there were snow flurries around 2:30am last night and sleet for a good hour.  But my mom went out around 9:30 and said the roads were completely fine.  We do have icicles hanging off things but I’m not sure if it warranted schools closing but that’s the way it goes around here.

Emma sick?

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Emma NEVER takes naps anymore.  I think it ill-timely stopped when Lexi was born.  So when Emma got a low fever this morning, begged me to hold her all morning and then crawled on the couch on her own and went to sleep, I had no choice but to assume she is sick.  Blah.  MIL has had an upper resipatory infection all week, SIL had bronchitis and nephew had something too.  Plus she’s been at school this week.  So I’m not sure what other symptoms might pop up.  But PRAY HARD because there have been 2 cases of chicken pox at our chuch.  Like I said, blah.

Podcasts

January 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m just about ready to release the links to our podcasts to our youth group.  I’m waiting on iTunes to make one more update.  They still have the wrong URL for one of the feeds.  I created a new page last night for our web site to link to all the new feeds.  I’m pretty happy with it.

We’ve been trying to figure out how to capture the video/audio on Wednesday night straight from the sound board/camcorder to the computer instead of having to record it on the camcorder and then go back and capture it on the computer.  Which I think we did last night except something happened with the sound. I think S turned the sound down on the board thinking it was coming out too high and then never turned it back up when we realized it wasn’t.  And then the files WOULD NOT copy to the external hard drive.  It was so weird.  It said it had 60GB free but would not copy our 15GB file.  What is up wtih that??  And I hate having to go back and wait another hour to re-capture this.  It will probably be tomorrow or Saturday before I can actually get a new podcast out.  Which really if everything worked properly–capturing, file copying and such–I could have had everything out last night.  I suppose one day we’ll get it down to a science.
