The evening I bought and clipped 300 coupons

January 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Melissa got sick and we had to postpone our Starbuck’s meeting but don’t you know I’ll hold her to that.  The evening was pretty low-key.  I drug dragged took the family with me to go buy two more Sunday papers.  If you haven’t bought yours yet, you need to.  There are SIX inserts.  I’m going BACK to CVS tomorrow to get a ton more free/very cheap stuff and since it’s not ECB deals, there’s no limit so watch out, folks.

We made a stop at Starbuck’s on the way home from that and actually went in and sat down with the girls who were very well behaved.  I think Lexi was scared of it or something because she stuck to me like glue.  Or it may have been because she was so tired because she literally asked me to go to bed when we got home around 7:45.

After they went to bed, I Interneted (my inner geek just likes using that word in verb form) for awhile and then sat down to clip my coupons while I watched Gossip Girl and a rerun of OTH.  It took FOREVER to clip so many.  I haven’t been doing that and going with the Coupon Mom approach and keeping them in the inserts and dating them.  But I found that many coupons the coupon mom has in her database don’t match up with my inserts so it was sort of worthless.  There were some that matched but I found Heather’s system of clipping and organizing so much faster when you’re actually in the store looking for something last minute.

So now I’m closing up shop for tonight and still need to read my Bible in 90 days for today.  I better get started as I’ve already taken a sleep aid and it should be kicking in soon.

Please pass the “Papa John’s”

January 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I made spaghetti tonight and Emma loves parmesan cheese on hers so while I was still fixing my plate in the kitchen, I told her to get the cheese out of the fridge and take it into the dining room.  The next thing I hear.

"Mommy, I can’t open the Papa John’s cheese!"

The day I clicked setup.exe 50 times

January 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Getting a new laptop from work is great but that means I have to install every single piece of software I use besides my mail application.  It has taken nearly all day to do it.

The day started out not so great either when we didn’t wake up until 8:51 when I flew out of bed got me and the girls dressed and ran out the door.  They were only 20 minutes late but it wasn’t a great feeling to be so behind already.

The rest of the day has literally been spent getting my new laptop set up and of course answering calls for food, opened puzzles, web site URLs and TV shows.

This evening I get to go spend some time with Melissa over coffee which I can’t wait for.

Now, if I could just get a shower for today, I’d be good to go 🙂

Oh, in other random news, our elliptical technician guy FINALLY called and we have an appointment set up for Thursday.  Yay!

Sunday Scripture

January 7, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

image Wow, I missed a week and now I’m late.  Not great stats lately.  My Scripture for this week is Psalm 51:12-13

Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will turn back to you.

Yesterday at church the pastor asked if we could dream big and do anything we wanted for God, what would we do?  No one answered out loud and when I thought of mine, for some reason I was embarrassed and thought number one, surely *I* couldn’t do that and number two, how silly and unimportant that would be?

Wanna know what I thought of?  I would love to be a writer of some sort and a speaker.  Which is sort of weird because if you know me, I get embarrassed in crowds easily so it seems what I really wouldn’t want to do.  I’ve often said I’d like to like Beth Moore and while I don’t want to be her or take her spot in her ministry, I would love to do something like that.

And then I read these Scriptures and realize, you know, some people’s great dream may be to win people for Christ cities and countries at a time but if I were to write a devotional or bible study type book and affected even one person.  If it brought someone in sin back to His ways, it would worth it.

I’ve screwed up enough in ways I don’t even want to admit.  But so has everyone.  And God has restored me each and every time and His salvation is my joy.  And if I can use my life to affect any number of people even if it’s just through posts on a personal blog–if that’s the only writing I’ll ever do, I’m good with that.

So how about you? To participate, simply post a verse, a set of verses or even just a reference to a verse that means something to you now or maybe even in the past. Explain why it’s important or don’t. It’s up to you. Go now and post and then come back. Post your name and then a direct link to you blog entry. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave yours in the comments. Here is the code for the graphic above.

Family Portraits

Sorry for the horrid scan job but here’s the results of our family portraits the other week.  I’m not a big fan of the background they use but they were free, so no complaining here.

On Tithing

January 6, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I love, love, love to read stories about tithing like this one.  Scott and I have always been firm believers in tithing 10% on the gross amount and even when we first got married, I was working part-time in college and he wasn’t making much to brag about, we always, always have had enough.  Now I can’t say we are fabulous stewards of the money we have right now and I’m not proud of that but whenever I hear of people having financial troubles, the first thing I ask is if the tithe and usually they don’t.  Yes, people that tithe are tight on money too but they are always are provided for and sometimes, like in Cindy’s case, He gets to show off and rain down money from Heaven.

CVS Deals January 6, 2008

January 6, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Oh my gosh.  I’m still hardly believing the deals I pulled out today.  Unbelievable.  Look at this…

image

That’s my Walgreens and CVS Deals.  Sort of ignore the two boxes of cereal and Splenda and add in a gallon of milk…do you know how much I paid for all of that from CVS…..

ELEVEN CENTS

Yes, that’s $0.11.  I opened my little change purse and pulled out a dime and penny and went home with that cart full.  And you can’t even see the 3rd roll of wrapping paper there in the back.  As for Walgreens, I paid $7 for the cereal and Splenda.  Not the best deal but it was on sale and I had coupons and was getting low on both and Heather wanted to go there for milk, yadda, yadda, so I went for it.

As for CVS…my receipt says I saved $150 something.  Insane, I tell you!

First off, the Christmas stuff is 90% off so that held a great deal on the amount I saved.  But I got some good deals otherwise.  Let me see if I can list out the really good stuff I got…

  • 2 Aquapod waters
  • Visine
  • 4 Bottles of Chewable baby aspirin
  • Similson (sp?) Pink Eye Drops
  • Aleve
  • 2 Aquafresh
  • 2 Colgate
  • Garnier Fructis Shampoo
  • 2 Lysol Neutra Air
  • Lighter
  • Zantac
  • Gallon of Milk (not pictured)
  • 2 2-pack Rubbermaid containers
  • Monster Energy drink (as a peace-offering for hubby for such a long planning session and trip)

I used a coupon for everything except the milk and Monster drink.

Then I used $10/$50, $5/$30, $3/$15, $2/10 CVS store coupons.

Then I paid $18 ECBs.

My balance was $.11

I also earned $9 ECBs plus it spit out $3/$15.

Find these deals and more at moneysavingmom.com.  Thank you, Crystal!!!

That one day we didn’t get out of bed until 9:38

January 5, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

The girls stayed at home last night and I thought we were in for an early morning when they were both asleep by 8pm.  But somewhere in the night Lexi ended up in our bed with Scott and I ended up in the girls’ bed with Emma.  And we all stayed asleep until 9:38am.  It was grand.

We got up and got us and the girls ready and took them over to his parents.  We made a trip to CVS and then came home and opted to eat lunch in and clean up some.  I actually got to reorganize my office shelves which were a disaster and under my bathroom counter which was even more of a disaster.  After that, Scott and I just vegged on the couch and watched Shopgirl.

This evening was spent at Chili’s celebrating D’s birthday.  It literally took all evening because we waited an hour and a half to get a table for 14 people.  The girls went right to bed when we got home and now instead of blogging I really need to be studying for Sunday School in the morning.
