First Lunch with Emma

September 26, 2008 by Amy 2 Comments

Not much to say except while waiting for Emma I thought I might have nightmares tonight..in a school, with a bunch of strangers, not sure where to go or how this whole lunch thing was going to work.  No wonder Emma cried for two weeks.  Lunch food is nasty.

(Emma was scowling, trying to tell me there was NO talking while the red cups were out)

Emma and I had a good time. But she cried when I left.  She hasn’t cried at school in over two weeks and I thought she would be ok.  It wasn’t overly dramatic crying and the teacher walked with her back to class.  Unless Emma makes a big deal of me coming back, I’ll probably wait awhile for a second visit.

Thursday night TV

September 26, 2008 by Amy 9 Comments

OK, so I have to comment a bit on TV last night.  I let Grey’s have priority and watched that first and then The Office.  Well, clearly, I was mistaken and should have done it the other way.

The Office

  • Jammy Jam!  They got engaged!  I honestly was shocked.  Did. not. expect their last minute lunch date to turn into THAT.  It was just lovely.  As much as gas station proposals can be lovely.
  • I actually felt bad for Andy.  That whole I’d marry you in a monsoon thing…I was like, aw, he really loves her.
  • I could have sworn that Michael was going to make them all strip to make it look like they lost a bunch of weight.
  • Dwight?  Funny but ewwww…what is she thinking?
  • The 212 thing?  I’m so doing that when I go to New York next week…here I come 2 1 2.
  • Ryan and Kelly? I was so proud of her for dissing Ryan but then see she is still in crazy love with him and acting childish.
  • The cleansing thing was HILARIOUS to Heather and I since we were right in the middle of it this week.
  • The cheesecake kick?  Fabulous.
  • Have I ever mentioned I LOVE JIM!

Grey’s

  • That episode was just ok.  I think it had too much about the medical and not enough of the drama.
  • I thought Meredith was over all this whininess.  I wanted some closet action!
  • Not a fan of Callie and Erica AT ALL but I’m glad they aren’t jumping right into it.  Glad they are like what just happened?
  • What was with Alex making out with a random girl with no shirt on staring at Izzie.  That was just weird.
  • And I actually didn’t like the dream with Denny.  Yes,  I miss Denny but the scene just, I don’t know, came out of nowhere.
  • The icicle not melting is driving me BANANAS!
  • I do like Major Hottie and Cristina.  Best thing going on in the ep.

Weekend Plans

September 26, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

So yesterday the HBC outfits thing wasn’t the only thing I started stressing over…this afternoon we’re headed to the mountains and I haven’t packed a thing.  In fact, not only haven’t I packed a thing, I haven’t even THOUGHT about packing a thing.  And I have to pack for the girls AND myself.

So last night I took the time to iron all the girls clothes I washed the day before and this morning.  This morning I laid out all their stuff.  As for my stuff?  Most of my clean clothes are sitting in a laundry basket.   I plan to feverishly pack at lunchtime today.

Also at lunchtime?  I’m going to eat with Emma.  She is SO excited.  I’m really happy to go but not really excited about eating school chicken nuggets.  Really don’t want that to be my one meal for the day so not sure if I should drink a shake before I go and then fake eating lunch or eat both or what.  I might just do the school lunch and then plan to eat with everyone tonight when we are on the road.  Sorry…I’ll quit thinking out loud.

We’ll be leaving at 4 today.  The girls will be staying with MIL and Mom through the weekend and we’ll be back on Sunday afternoon.  Not exactly sure what all we’re doing up there.  We talked about going tubing but with 60 degree weather, I highly doubt it.  I know we’re going to be doing planning for the school year and maybe some shopping.

So that’s it.  Today will be crazy because yeah, at some point?  I’m going to need a shower today.

Messy Kind of Night

September 24, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

It got messy around here tonight.  As the girls have gotten older we haven’t had QUITE the number of messes we have had in the past but tonight was an exception!

I was quickly trying to make my shake before going to church.  I had the water and ice in the blender and dropped a bunch of the chocolate powder from the scoop on its way to the blender all over the counter and blender.  I dumped the rest of the powder in the blender and thought I should clean it up since that stuff is like glue if you let it sit there.  Well, smart me decides I’ll multi-task and let the blender run while I clean it up.  Yeah, well, I didn’t have the lid on and when I turned it on, the now wet powder flew everywhere.  Another mess to clean up.

Tonight as we walk in the door from church, I was carrying two book bags, a lunchbox, my bible, phone, keys and cup with said milkshake cup.  It had a small amount left in it and I accidentally leaned over and poured the leftover shake all over the lunchbox, Lexi’s book bag and the floor.  I cleaned the floor up and threw her book bag in the washing machine.

Then.  Lexi apparently didn’t wipe very well after going potty over at MIL’s house so I had her go to the potty to clean and change her.  I got the dirty panties off and while I was putting those up, Lexi starts taking the rest of her clothes off and flings her sock behind her which lands in the DIRTY toilet water.  I had to fish that out and throw it in the sink.

THEN.  We walk out to the kitchen and I make the girls chocolate milk and Lexi goes to turn her cup up and spills some of it on the floor.  OMG!  The messes!

I was needing but some blog fodder but really.  I could have done without all that.

Greek

September 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Funny stuff.  Reminds me of a friend who was once "not-dating" a girl.  We now refer to her as the girl he not-dated. (Plus, I'm testing out my newest web toy posterous.com)

Isagenix Cleanse Day 2

September 24, 2008 by Amy 2 Comments

Yesterday was definitely easier on the cleanse.  The cleansing drink wasn’t nearly as bad.  In fact, by last night, it was starting to taste kind of good.  I didn’t seem nearly as hungry and I was kind of in the groove of it.  But yes, I was hungry and food looked very yummy.  But I guess I’m saying it wasn’t as hard as I thought.

This morning I was not tired but I was very shaky and weak.  I almost didn’t have the energy to get ready.  Even after I sit here 30 minutes after drinking my shake my hands are still shaky.  But I get like that normally when I don’t eat so I’m not surprised.  And really, I haven’t had a real meal for almost 36 hours so I’m surprised it’s taken this long to feel that way.

Results surprised me today.  I was down another 1.5lbs from yesterday which puts me a whole pound under my “magic number”.  Also I’ve lost (with conservative measurements) 1″ in my waist in the past week.

I’m sure once I start eating actual food it will go back up.  My plans are to go out for lunch and eat a nice, big (balanced) meal.  I can’t wait!

I talked to my rep last night and we agreed if my weight stayed down where I like, that I would go ahead and switch to one milkshake a day instead of two like I planned and I’ll officially be on their maintenance program.  It feels good to know my body is supposedly cleansed and I’m getting all the right vitamins every day!

Isagenix Cleanse – Day 1

September 23, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

So yesterday was my first ever cleanse day.  Here’s basically what happens…you drink 4 oz of their fruit/veggie cleansing juice 4 times a day.  I drank it at 8:30, 12, 3 and 7.  In between, you can have one of their little chocolate “morsels” or a handful of almonds to keep your sugar levels up. Oh, and you also have to down the water like crazy.  Some because you are hungry but they do tell you to drink more than your normal amount.

How I Feel

First off, that cleansing drink is nasty.  Not as nasty as their “ionic” drink you have to take every day but at least that is only 1 oz.  I figured out though that it is easier to chug the 4oz of cleansing drink rather than try to mix it with 8 oz of water like it suggests.  That was pure torture.  The almonds and chocolates helped a bunch.  I found I didn’t get too hungry at all until my normal snack time around 2:30.  The rest of the evening I found myself on the light side of hungry.  It was hard to fix dinner for everyone and not eat.  But I wasn’t to the point where my stomach was growling and I was just about to faint with hunger…which literally happens with me even normally.  It’s just that feeling…I really could eat something right now but not starving feeling.  I wasn’t tired though. I thought without a good meal I’d be really tired but I wasn’t.  I even went to bed a little late last night and easily woke up this morning.

The Results

The numbers are looking good…I’ve lost a total of 2 lbs since last Wednesday when I started.  I went down 1/2 lbs over yesterday.  As I’ve said, I’m not really doing this for the weight loss but if I get down another 1/2 lbs, I’ll be at that “magic number” I’ve always had for myself and I haven’t been at in about three years.  I can DEFINITELY tell a difference that I’ve lost.  Scott has definitely noticed which if you read this, that means a lot.  And according to another rough measurement by my iPhone cord, I’ve lost at least 3/4″ in my waist–which is where all my weight gain always goes!

TMI

Most people want to know about what’s coming out….besides running to the bathroom a lot because of the water, nothing else was out of the ordinary which means for me, going 1 time a day.  I thought for sure I’d be in the bathroom all day. I don’t know if this has something to do with the fact that I had switched to all natural products for a month before doing this or it’s common or what but I always assumed you’d be going a lot during a cleansing.

Anyway, that’s about it.  Today I feel more hungry than yesterday.  Technically I haven’t had a meal since Sunday at lunch since I chose to do my second shake at dinner on Sunday instead of lunch.  Not really good planning there on my part.  I’m already planning my meal for tomorrow.

I do wish there was a way to tell if this has helped clear out the toxins in my body.  Honestly, I do like seeing the numbers on the scale changing but my ultimate goal was to get cleansed and unfortunately I don’t know!  Anyone have a clue?

BTW, Isagenix’s site has a bunch of info on what I’m doing.  Let me know if you are interested though b/c I think I do get credits or something if someone uses my referral.  NOT why I’m posting this though.

Funny convo

September 22, 2008 by Amy 2 Comments

Scott: Are you going to take a shower today and get ready?

Amy: Um, I did.  Can you not tell I did my hair and makeup??

Scott (smiling and speechless for once): Uhhhhh….yeah.

*Amy picks up a pen to throw at Scott while they both laugh*

He better be glad I have a sense of humor.
