Vampire Diaries Episode 7 Review

I keep talking/chatting about Vampire Diaries after last night’s episode and I think I’m just going to have to ramble here for a bit to get it all out.

First off, if you remember at the beginning of the season, I was very hesitant about this series.  Real vampires?  Eh.  Not my thing.  But after last night’s episode, I would put this series in my Top 3 show right now.  Maybe 2 if I would be really honest with myself.  Here are just a few reasons I love it:

• The filming is just gorgeous.  It has such a rich, dark beautiful quality to it that I just love to turn the lights out and enjoy the view itself.
• The people are beautiful.  Seriously, all of them.  Damon is my favorite though.  But Bonnie and Matt are my other favorite to uh, appreciate.
• It’s dramatic.  I can’t get through the commercials fast enough to see what happens.
• It’s got great music.  The first few eps were a bit questionable but the last few eps have done well.
• There are love triangles.  Yes, more than one.
• There’s a good vs. evil theme to it.  And sometimes you see the good being evil and there is a glimpse of good in the evil.

As for last night’s episode, here are some comments:

 

Damon wiping his hands off on the robe hanging on the door.

WHY did Vicki not suggest having sex with Damon when she said she was bored?  I mean, hello?  You’re by yourself and uncontrollable.  Did it not even occur to her?  (Sorry, normal morals do not count while watching a show about vampires).

“Why do I have to pee?  I thought I was dead!”  And not to mention Christina’s “I want to HAVE to pee.” line in Grey’s I was wondering what all the pee was about last night.

Damon’s “Uh, my bad.” when they lost Vicki

Damon with the cougar was fantastic.

I was absolutely shocked they killed Vicki.  I love that it was Stefan that did it though.  I heard it was going to be Jeremy but you wouldn’t feel nearly as bad for Jeremy afterwards and plus, Stefan is more of the good guy.  I wasn’t a big fan of Vicki so I’m not upset she’s gone.

Damon telling Elena to get away.  We all know it’s much more than the necklace that keeps him from killing her.

I felt really, really bad for Jeremy.  It’s almost like OTH Peyton’s Everyone Leaves.

I still feel bad for Matt.  He’s worried.  And let me tell you, they’ve got gold with Matt.  I know him as Cash in Friday Night Lights and he’s number 1 – hot and number 2 – a quality actor.  I really hope they use him more in the future.

Jasmine Guy as a GRANDMOTHER?  Sweet heavens, I’m getting old.

 

Not sure how I feel about erasing Jeremy’s memory.  I mean, they can’t just go around zapping everyone.  Won’t someone say something to him when everyone else finds out she’s dead or are they going to leave a note from her saying she left town? That being said, it was a fantastic moment when Damon said he’d do it for Elena.

 

So yeah, I liked last night’s episode.  I just hope it keeps getting better and they’re able to keep up with the level of drama.

 

And I have no idea why I decided to do a full-on screencap review post.  And NO idea why 75% of it is of Damon.  Nope, not one clue.
