I saw this Accent Vlog from Trina today and I just love it! The whole purpose of this meme is to see if people think you have an accent. Even though I’m in South Carolina, Trina’s Alabama Southern accent is just too cute for words! Just so you know I tried pretty hard to get Scott to get on film. He’s the one with the REAL Southern accent but it was just a no-go, as you’ll see. Also, I tend to talk like people that are around me so after listening back, I feel like my accent is a little thicker since I just listened to Trina 🙂
The instructions are to say these words:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
And answer these questions:
- What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
- What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
- What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
- What do you call gym shoes?
- What do you say to address a group of people?
- What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
- What do you call your grandparents?
- What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
- What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
- What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?
You can see all the other fun accent vlogs here.
We had a clicker, too!! And apparently I’m some kind of brand-name junkie because I call almost all soda ‘Coke’ and never refer to mayo, I always say “Duke’s.” ( the only real mayonnaise.) 🙂
Yes, that is Southern. Scott is Duke’s all the way but my Northern roots love the Miracle Whip!!
Loved it! Especially the girls in the background. And the the 4 wheelers…..did you pay them to do that!!! Perfect timing….so South Carolina! Love it here!
I love the South Carolina accent, you are too cute! We called it a clicker and now a remote, too. And when it rains when the sun’s out, that’s a sun shower. 🙂
I should do this to prove that the New Jersey accent is a myth… but I’d have to get in front of the camera! Eep!
Sarah, do it! 😀
Thank you and yes!! Do it!! Easy and fun blog post 🙂
The New Jersey accent is totally NOT a myth! It took me years to change from saying wooder to water…
And as I read the instructions all I see is you have to say the words, nothing about being in front of the camera while doing it 😉
Cracks me up when people say PEE-CAN. LOL
I’ve not heard too many people say granddaddy longlegs. Lots of people were saying just daddy longlegs.
Amy you are so beautiful and I love your voice! So glad you did this too!! 😀
Thanks so much, Trina! I actually do switch the way I say pecan sometimes.
Amy, Remember the Fudge family? Especially Elaine and Charlene’s southern draw? The first time that Elaine said she made a “PEE-Can” pie, my brain was like “did she mean to say pecan pie?”
