Not Me Monday

January 26, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

This is my second week of participating in Not Me Monday and I did NOT spend the week thinking of things I did NOT do to add to this post.

  1. I did NOT  get a bit miffed when I found out Scott drank 2 of 3 Starbucks’ Frappucinos I got at CVS yesterday.  I love sharing.
  2. I was NOT woken up by a call from work this morning at 8:30.  I get up super early and do…early morning stuff.
  3. I did NOT put a pair of semi-clean underwear on my daughter the other day when she had an accident and there were no clean ones left.  OMG.  I would NOT do something that gross.  Especially since I am ALWAYS on top of the laundry.
  4. I did NOT look up my first crush on Facebook and then giggle a little when I got an email that said he had confirmed my request.
  5. I did NOT get myself a bowl of ice cream and try to sneak it by Lexi sitting at the computer.  I also did NOT groan when she caught me and asked what I was eating.  I love fixing food for my children.
  6. I did NOT spend 6 hours sitting in my bed watching Pride & Prejudice this weekend.  That would be such a waste of time.  I also did NOT think it was really good.

Delurking Day means everyone who reads this gets to comment on this post and let me know they read my blog.  Even if you comment every day or have never commented.  My feed readers says there are at least 80 people reading this so come on, let me know you’re out there!

Amy the Writer

January 7, 2009 by Amy 1 Comment

So I’m slowly, slowly, slowly making progress on my non-novel.  Melissa finished her novel along with all the other “National Writing Month” winners, writing 50,000 words in 30 days.  I wouldn’t commit to that but I’ve been slowly writing since the end of November.  I think I have about 25,000 words.  Half the words in twice the time!

Melissa sent me a link to someone who had classified the different types of writers and thought it’d be interesting to post which ones I thought I could relate to.

Ahead-of-Themselves Worrywarts: People who are way too worried about what publishers will accept, and whether they’re going to get in legal trouble for some part of their story. Can I use names of real people? Is it okay if my character blows up a McDonald’s? Can I use X word in my YA novel?

I Would Do NaNoWriMo, But I Want to Put Real Thought into a Story: This wrimo-er isn’t exactly a real wrimo-er! You tell them about NaNoWriMo, and they say ‘Oh, I would LOVE to, but I want to put real thought into my novel.’ They watch your wordcount increase and they might read your NaNo, then you might get it published and it might become a bestseller, but that story that they wanted so badly to put tons of thought into just never seems to get on paper.

“My Characters Won’t Obey Me” NaNoers: whose imaginations run wild to such a degree that their characters become uncontrollable. Then they post a lot of threads wailing, and begging for help with keeping their unruly plots on track.

Obsessive Researcher Authors: who ask oodles of questions for verisimilitude and surf Wikipedia for hours, but it takes them forever to actually write their novels.

My Future Blogging Career

January 7, 2009 by Amy 6 Comments

I’m realizing almost my entire future blogging career could change based on news coming up soon.  First off, the role of Jac0b Black is supposed to be announced from Summit this week.  Heather and I have created a fan site devoted to Michael Copon (we haven’t technically launched it yet), one of the actors in the running to replace Taylor Lautner.  Things don’t sound good for Michael right now but if by some chance Michael does get it, that could become a very popular blog.  Or not so much.

Secondly, OTH actors are in negotiations right now for Season 7.  From what I gather, the network wants a Season 7 but the contracts all expired after 6 years so they have to make sure everyone they want is on board.  I think there might be a few of them that want out but we’ll see.  It would be tough to lose any of them and I’m not sure if there are any must-haves the CW is counting on.  My guess is if any of the core 5 don’t sign, we don’t get a Season 7.  Anyway, obviously if there is no Season 7, that blog slows down a lot.  I would guess I would keep up with the actors and future projects but I’m sure it wouldn’t be the same.

As for my Privileged blog, it’s limping along.  I’ve been sticking with it, not wanting to get behind if it lasts past a first season.  No news on a second season but numbers haven’t been stellar.  OTH never had stellar season 1 numbers either so I’m not taking that as the only sign.  I guess we’ll see what happens but I’m hoping for the best!

Search Terms

December 3, 2008 by Amy 10 Comments

I’ve always enjoyed reading people’s post where they take search terms people have used to find their blogs and then blogging about them.  Mine have never been very interesting but I’ve found enough to have a little fun.

does david cook have an accent – No, but oh my lord, I wish he did!  Maybe he’d pretend for us a while.
deanna and jesse website – Sadly they’ve broken up and Jesse has taken over their blog
dry iphone in rice – I did it and mine still works!
rob pattinson kristen stewart – Nothing to say here.  I just like seeing their names
what is a clean freak – My husband

Book Meme

November 25, 2008 by Amy 4 Comments

Did someone say Twilight?  Oh, I think Sarah did when she tagged me for this book meme!

The directions on this one are very unique directions: find the book closest to you, turn to page 56, and type in the fifth sentence plus a couple more after that.

She guessed I would have Twilight closest to me but in fact, I had Stephenie Meyer’s other book The Host closest to me (well, TECHNICALLY I had a stack of about 10 children’s book closest to me but they have no page 56).

So I hope I don’t spoil myself by reading this since I’m still on page 1

Laughing at me.  I turned my back to her and concentrated on calming myself. I tried to pretend she wasn’t there.  That I was all alone in my austere kitchen, staring out the window into the little patch of night sky, at the three bright stars I could see through it.

Oh, I just love Stephenie and all her tiny details!

Tagged!

October 29, 2008 by Amy 3 Comments

Jeauxdi tagged me for this one!
Here’s the RULES:

Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules in your post.

Share 7 random/weird facts about yourself.  I’m so bad at these!  I already share SO MUCH stuff on here it’s hard to come up with weird stuff.

  1. I weigh myself every morning and feel weird if I don’t.  Usually I can guess how much I weigh according to how big my belly feels.   Yeah, that feels weird to say.  The bad thing is I’m usually right.
  2. I have a belly button ring I got last September.  I’ve sort of kept it under wraps but it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me anymore.
  3. I usually never eat the last bite of anything I’m eating.  Unless it’s dessert.
  4. I don’t drink much with my meals.  I usually never require a refill at restaurants.
  5. I have really messy handwriting.
  6. I like to doodle during meetings and church services.
  7. I have a tendency to pick up phrases from the people I’m talking/chatting with.  If they type with a lot of exclamation points, I’ll start doing it.  If they say awesome a lot, I start saying awesome a lot.

Tag 7 random people at the end of your blog and link to their blogs.

  1. Heather
  2. Melissa
  3. Sharon
  4. Stacey
  5. Jen
  6. Wendi
  7. Elaine

Let each person know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment in their blog.
